Sweetwater Tavern and Grille
Located on Michigan Ave. in the heart of downtown Chicago, Sweetwater is a 200 seat restaurant with over 20 flat panel TVs, a private dining room, oversized booth seating, and a large bar with community tables. Sweetwater provides an ideal atmosphere for almost any occasion.
Very loud, food took over 40 minutes to arrive. The waiter was annoyed we didn’t order drinks and the impossible burger was not appetizing
The salads we ordered as our dinner were mediocre, which is a problem because they were also expensive. And regrettably the beer was warmish by the time it was served. I probably should have said something about that to our server - who I'm sure would have addressed the problem - but frankly the whole atmosphere was very noisy and we were not interested in dragging out our time in the place.
The service wasn't quite as stellar as we hoped (had a hard time finding a serving to order a bottle of wine), but the food was fabulous, the atmosphere is fun, and overall it was a fabulous experience! It was fun to find a new place downtown.
Our waitress was very attentive, service was great and food was amazing. We had a wonderful experience.
Great place and the food is terrific as per usual!
We went to Sweetwater Tavern to watch the Bears football game. Lots of TVs and the DJ was great. Bloody Mary was delicious
The manager was too stupid to know how to process the OT card so we had to pay the entire bill. On top of that she was annoyed with US!!! Won’t be visiting again...ever!
This was my first time eating at the restaurant. There was three in our party. We were seated in an one sided booth facing the bar. It was hard to hear the conversation with individuals that I was with. I had the fish tacos and they were terrible. The fish was dry. The tortilla fell apart. I ended up having to eat the tacos with a fork.
Server was excellent
We stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday. I ordered the eggs benedict. Standard english muffin with the thinnest slice of ham, only 2/3 the size of the muffin, and the eggs were poached but the yokes were cooked through instead of runny. The hollandaise was good but overall it was simple and underwhelming. The place was causal and nice, large beer selection and tv's with multiple games on. Good atmosphere but brunch wasn't anything exciting.
Convenient location on Michigan Avenue. We had a slight problem with our calamari order, but the staff was very attentive and apologetic. They replaced the item quickly and took the cost off our bill. Food was delicious and very hot. Great drinks!
Food was fantastic...best Halibut with Couscous I've ever had!
Made a reservation for 4 people at 5PM and asked to be seated in a booth upon arrival. The hostess would not allow it and booths sat open around our table for the remainder of the evening, which was a little frustrating considering this was a client dinner and sitting in the middle of the room was noisy. Food was a good value at the price point and our drinks were well made from the bar. Server did a good job as well. Being told "no" when asking for a seating preference, despite making a reservation ahead of time, was a bit rude and really the only knock.
The quality of food was a let down. Drink selection was very good.
Table was ready immediately for our reservation. Lots of options for a sports bar and food was great!
Made a reservation for my husbands birthday. I emailed the restaurant the Friday before our reservation to advise it was his birthday and could they get balloons and also secure us a table near the TV's for the football game.
They never responded to my email.
When we arrived they did not have balloons and also sat us away from TV's I had to ask for a better seat. Also when we told the waitress why we were there nothing happened. Usually you will get a free beer or a piece of cake. Not looking for him to be sung to, but some acknowledgement that we chose this place to celebrate would have been nice.
Simple - Basic food
Food was prompt and delicious. Service was excellent!
Good for sports watching. Quite loud for normal conversation. Window seats have nice street view. Waiter is attentive. Price is reasonable. Location is superb. Walking distance to Millennium Park and Chicago River walk.
We LOVE going to Sweetwater! It is one of our "go to" places in the Loop! Food and service is always GREAT! Look forward to our next visit!
Service was absolutely wonderful. We were visiting Chicago and it was our first time dining in Omar our server did not know this but his service madr our experience that much better. The burger was so good...cooked just the way i asked....and the DJ music was good.
They were playing the original versions of some songs though. I just say if taking your kids be prepared for that. My husband and I had a great experience and we would surely return when back in Chicago.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was disappointment. It was almost as if the server didn't want to be there and was only going through the motions. If you didn't want to talk beer with him, it's almost like he turned off. He (Casey) couldn't have been less interested in serving the table. Really took away from the whole experience.
Good place for watching whatever game is on. Food is not great.
While it was busy due to College Football and the Mag Mile Parade, service was incredibly slow. Our water had to be flagged down anytime we needed anything and even then it felt like he was avoiding us, for simple things like more beverages. The food was just ok, especially for the price. I don't mind spending $15 on a sandwich but I would like it to taste better than a $5 one I could get elsewhere. I want to say that this experience was due to the crowd but I highly doubt that is why the food was bad.
Our food came amazingly fast. We had our appetizers within about three minutes. And the food within 15 minutes of walking in the door.
Sweetwater is right next to my office. I don't even have to go outside to get there. It's a great place for lunch with colleagues when you need a quick reservation. The turkey burger is a favorite!
We ate here before going to the Chicago Theatre. The food was very good. Dutch Mules were excellent. Fun environment. Walking distance from the theatre. Wide variety of food choices on the menu. Would definitely go back!
Overall good food and drink. Convenient for downtown meetup and theaters. Music too loud for conversation in dining areas.
The waiter was amazing. The food was good but really greasy. I would recommend this spot for a drink and a quick bite
Burgers were good, excellent beer list; good location if you're in the loop or shopping michigan avenue
Good food great beer selection
Service was amazing. Great food and great beer on tap. Will go back when I am in Chicago next.
It was okay. The cocktails we ordered were tasty. My steak was cooked exactly as asked and the chimichurri sauce was pretty good, but a little too salty. Server seemed frantic - we saw him when we placed our drink order, placed our food order, and when we paid. Music was not great, and was quite loud. While it was fine, I wouldn't recommend it with so many better options in the same area.
Crazy prices for casual spot, especially drinks...$300 for 3 people. And yet, with the exception of the host, the waiter service was terrible and practically non-existent.
Food was very good. High energy place lots of tvs. However, music was too loud. You could not really talk to your companions.
Visiting Chicago from out of town and ended up at the Sweetwater Tavern and Grille. When we arrived, most folks were there for happy hour. We were promptly seated and ordered a chopped salad to share along with our entrees. Shortly after digging into our salads, my husband pulled a long hair out of his mouth that had been unknowingly in the salad. We both immediately dropped our forks! The hair was placed on a bread plate and our waiter was informed. Soon after taking our salads and the plate with the hair, he returned to say the there was no one working in the kitchen with gray hair and never even offered an apology. It's important to note the my husband is balding and I have brown hair. Finding someone's hair in your food is rather disgusting and completely ruined the entire meal. The cost of the salad was removed from our bill and that was it - I must say again that no apology was given and the female manager couldn't even be bothered to visit our table. Do NOT go to this establishment unless you have no problem finding other people's hair in your food!
Pretheater find. Great salmon salad and flatbreads. Peanut butter snicker pie a definite favorite!
Amazing burgers. Attentive staff, good service. A little pricey, but for downtown Chicago, you can't beat it.
