The best kept secret in Utah. Such a good place to eat
Great anniversary dinner at Swens. Food was great and service was fine. Not rushed. We had spare ribs and halibut. Both were delicious. Craft cocktails were outstanding!
Menu was different than what they had on their website, so that was frustrating. The food was sub par for price and there were bugs flying everywhere…landing on our food, in our drinks. We kept having to bat them away.
I was able to make a reservation on Open Table for 2 at 11:00 am only to get up there and find out they are closed during that time. Nobody bothered to let us know. The girl at the front desk was rude and snarky when letting me know they are closed during that time. Hopefully nobody else drives up the canyon to have that happen. Terrible experience.
Had reservations. Drove an hour to get there. First they said we didn’t have a reservation. I showed reservation. Manager laughed at us and said 2 hr wait even with reservation. I said can you just sit us down as there were a lot of empty seats. He laughed and said too bad. What a rude place. I’ll never go there again.
Buffet was not stocked. Never brought out new bowls. Food was okay. Way overpriced for what you get.
They are been out of food two times I’ve been here . They don’t seem to be keeping up with the people coming back After covid . When they only offer a few things on the menu , they should be shifting .
Very slow food arrival. Dirty water glass. Skimpy bread serving and very slow. It appeared that the restaurant wasn’t ready to open….unprepared.
This was the worst food I’ve ever had. My first bite into the egg hash was met with a mouthful of eggshells. The rest of the food lacked flavor. The shrimp tasted like rubber. My teenage son who will eat anything said it was the most disgusting food he’d ever had. I never leave reviews but I had to on this one. I still can’t believe I paid $50 a plate for one of the most disgusting meals of my life. I will never go there again.
Wedding - the venue was beautiful the good great .
Loved our experience at Swens. Beautiful atmosphere with awesome views, excellent service from our waiter Conner. The food was delicious, we had the halibut, smoked brisket and steak dinners and we loved every bite of each. So good!
Great ambience and beautiful views. Except if you have kids under the age of two I would not recommend because you will be charged kid prices.
We have been here a couple of times now while staying at the resort and service is consistently slow. It’s better at dinner than other times of the day, however. Don’t expect to be offered refills or checked on at all. At breakfast this morning we saw our waiter one time when he took our order and once when he brought the check and it took 35 minutes to get our avocado toast. Food is pretty mediocre for the price.
Swens has amazing food and a beautiful view while eating. One of our favorite places.
Mother’s Day brunch. The service was great as was the food!
Great service, food, fun getaway from the kids for a few hours.
The service was excellent by Mary Elizabeth. The dood
Really amazing food and great atmosphere. Would 10/10 recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We hope to see you again soon!
I had never been back up that far in Alta before and this is a real gem! We had Valentines dinner here and everything was great. The food, service and setting were all on point. I would definitely go back!
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant! We are thrilled that we could make Valentine's Day special for you. We look forward to serving you again soon!
Very classy, but rustic atmosphere. Excellent food and service. Great dining option for Little Cottonwood Canyon.
We are glad you enjoyed your experience at our restaurant. We hope to serve you again in the near future!
realy great food! great service! Great atmosphere!
We appreciate you taking the time to review our restaurant. We look forward to serving you again in the future!
As usual the dining experience at Swen’s was special. The hardest part on a 3 day stay is selecting each evening from the amazing menu what to eat Too many excellent choices!!
The pasta dish is definitely a must-have, as is the Snowpine Greens salad too. The berry cobbler was our favorite dessert of the stay....and there’s always another day on the ski slopes tomorrow to work off the calories :)
5-star service and cuisine all the way!
Thank you for your compliments on the Swen's menu! We look forward to your next stay at Snowpine!
If you’re looking for excellent food prepared by an amazing staff of chefs and served by attentive servers then there’s no need to look further. Save room for dessert. Great experience and looking forward to coming back soon.
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are very glad you enjoyed your experience. We hope to serve you again soon!
Always a great spot!
Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We hope to see you again in the near future!
Love the atmosphere. True lodge feeling with beautiful view of mountains.
Swens is a lively and fun place to eat. It has the best combination of ambience, good food and friendly service to be found anywhere in the Alta/Snowbird region.
We had a great dinner. Food was amazing and creative.
Our service was great. Nice Birthday dinner but this place is great for all occasions. Casual but elegant.
Swens is the best place to dine in the Alta or Snowbird region. Great ambience, delicious food and extremely friendly staff.
Very good. After 20 years with the same group every year at Shallow Shaft we went to Swen’s. We will stick with Swen’s. crisp, clean, good food and we will go back.
We had a 7:30 reservation but our table was not ready until 8– not upsetting or unusual in itself. Our table wasnt ready when we arrived.— no room at the bar to wait. We sat in the lobby to wait where the coffee table was covered in dirty dinner dishes. It was pretty awful looking. We sat in the lobby because the bar was full and loud with people having dinner— it certainly seemed that everyone there had settled in for the night. At 8 pm we were finally seated.
We ordered cocktails which took 35 minutes to arrive and came with salads we had ordered. Our dinners finally arrived at 9:10. By that time all had filled up on bread and drinks— we were ready to go home— or take our food “to go”.
The dinners were very good for the most part but we wAitedso long to get them we didn’t pay a lot of attention.
I do want to commend our nice waitress Sarah. She was great and appropriately apologetic when we jokingly complained about the wait. We only saw one other wait person in the room— hope there were more but sure didn’t seem to be.
As we had so much time to sit and critique while waiting for our dinner we decided dimmers on the lights, perhaps a candle or two on the tables might help the atmosphere a bit!
Value? Had the service been wonderful we wouldn’t have batted an eye at the prices; as it was it felt overpriced and disappointing.
Hopefully Snowpine is going through growing pains and will work all of this out. We won’t be back until we hear things have improved.
Fresh ingredients, great atmosphere, attentive staff. We loved it!
Not great menu choices.
Pizza was mehh
Not what I would expect from an otherwise spectacular lodge
Very glad that this restaurant is here. It provides a welcome alternative to other restaurants at Alta/Snowbird. It has great ambitions. Pros: cocktails were good. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Bussers were great. Venue was beautiful. The cons are related to how well the food and experience were executed at this price point:
-- noise: lots of wood and metal = NOISE. They should add simple sound baffling (even if just under the tables) to cut down on noise and echoes
-- food: steaks were overcooked, mushrooms oddly sweet and most of food was underwhelming, particularly at that price point.
-- service timing: it took a LONG time to get drinks and timing between courses was off. I'm assuming our plates were under a heater waiting for a long time and that's why they were overcooked. We had our dishes cleared, then entrees brought before we had new sets of silverware.
Overall, if they can get these kinks out, it could be a nice and welcome addition to the restaurants in the area. But need to figure out getting the food quality and cooking better, work out the service kinks and find ways to cut back the noise so the servers can hear customers and we can hear each other talk.
Worst service by our waitress I have ever had. My pasta tasted like spaghetti-Os. They have a lot of work to do.
They couldn’t seat us for more than an hour after our reservation
Burger was totally over cooked.
Chicken entree was ridiculously small. Spinach & rice side was watery with no flavor. On the bright side, great service & wine / beer selection. Nice ambiance
We have dined here several times in the past but this time the food was just ok and the style of cuisine not so imaginative as before.
Went to Swen’s for Thanksgiving dinner. Quite a disappointment. The restaurant is very nice, but food was awful. Especially at $73 per person buffet. Seafood made the restaurant smell weird. Why seafood for Thanksgiving? Should have stuck to traditional Thanksgiving food. No cranberry anything. Store bought pies and no whipped cream. The turkey breast was so salty almost inedible and beef was too rare. Not busy at all due to winter storm, but food service was not great. Snow Pine Lodge is very nice and good service, just not Swen’s.
Very nice . We were there for the thanksgiving dinner. There were a few glitches like no tinny crab picks to remove the meat from good crab legs crab you had , or no cranberry sauce but otherwise it was very good
