Swift & Sons Ratings and Reviews
Great for a first date
Food and service was excellent. Decor was really cool. Music was great!
Best restaurant in Chicago, hands down. The service and the food is an experience you will never forget.
Very very nice. We had a great meal and a great time
Outstanding service, food and venue! Highly recommend Swift and Sons!!
It was fantastic as usual the food, the service, everything, was fantastic. One of the best steak houses in the country.
The meal was well paced with satisfactory portion sizes. On Valentine's day we didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave. Excellent all around.
Went to Swift & Sons for husbands 50th Birthday. Food was very over priced and average. Had the Beef Wellington. Filet was well done on ends and rare in middle. Kansas City Strip was served at room temperature. Bok Choy side dish was also served cold and lacked flavor. Overall, very disappointed!! I spent 400 dollars on dinner for 3. I did not want to complain in front of my husband and ruin the meal but it was awful. Very disappointed!!
The service was great. The atmosphere was good.
The food was very average. There are better places for steak in Chicago.
Great dinner. Service was outstanding. Bone in filet melted in my mouth. Several people split beef Wellington which looked fantastic. John the magician was incredible.
Second visit here, I gave four stars to moderate their overall review as the current 4.8/4.9 is a tad overrated. Staff is smartly dressed and unobtrusive. The charcuterie is unique and highly recommended. Steak options are outstanding. Although my go to is ribeye, I had the filet mignon on my first visit and the beef wellington at second visit. I wish they had more options than 22 oz bone in ribeye and tomahawk. A twelve to fourteen ounce ribeye would be welcome. Cocktails and wine options are excellent with respect to pricing, with entry level to premium options available. Only negative criticism are the sides and unless things change would recommend avoiding and enjoy a salad for vegetables. First visit asparagus was thin, overly charred and over cooked. Second visit sunchokes were variably crisp or mushy. Noise level is very loud.
Our dinner was spectacular...from the attention (ADAM was incredible) to the food, wine, dessert and ambience...perfect! One of our best experiences in Chicago in 8 years. We'll be back! Thank you!
The experience at Swift and Sons was amazing and I would recommend this location to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion. My only complaint is that the hostess seated us in the busy, loud bar area despite the fact that I made a reservation for a special occasion.
We informed our server and we were promptly seated in the dining room.
Honestly, one of my favorite restaurants I've ever been too. Impeccable service, food and cocktails. Fine dining without being stuffy. Great interior design. Warm and welcoming.
If I were you, I would order all the Old Fashioneds + the lamb shank
Great restaurant. We will go back. Shrimp and the brussel sprouts were fantastic.
Swift was my boyfriend's choice for his birthday. I hesitantly agreed because I'm not a fan of steak and also because we'd just visited a steakhouse the week before which was on Chicago's top ten list and it was horrible. Swift was a pleasant surprise. From the moment we walked in we were greeted pleasantly and everyone that came in contact with us wished my boyfriend happy birthday. The food was beyond excellent. The cocktails were great as well. They have a great selection of wine and just the Elegance of the place is is outstanding. You can go here for a business meeting, for a date, or just a night out on the town. You will not be disappointed. By the way I tried his steak and it probably was the best steak that I've had in my life. It was not chewy and it was cooked to perfection.
Our service was perfect! And the food was amazing. Truly a highlight to my birthday. Thank you guys !
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Swift & Sons. The NY Strip was tasty and GIGANTIC! Loved the beet salad too. Martini could have been a bit more substantial. Service was fantastic. And finally I really liked the atmosphere and the physical space itself.
The comment in Open Table’s notes about Vegetarian options should be removed. This is a standard steakhouse menu and fortunately my wife eats fish. We expected something more based on it being called out in the description. The sides were very good and is a good space but the steak did not stack up to many other steak houses in Chicago.
Arugula salad, filet and fingerling potatoes were all amazing
NY strips prepared perfectly throughout. Sides of mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were very good.
David Cohn Cab was priced well and paired well with the steak.
I eat here regularly for business dinners frequently. Something was off this time. I arrived early and despite many tables being open we were sat in the worse seat in the place. A seat that shouldn’t even be a table. There was no light as it was way in the corner and the booth was barely wide enough for two People to sit in it. I ordered my regular meal however this time it was poor quality. The beet and goat cheese moose was not prepared properly, the goat cheese moose was more like foamy water. Each time I have ordered it in the past it’s been delicious. The 8oz filet was tough and appeared to have been reheated or aged improperly. The delicious Van Duzen Pinot Noir I always order by the glass, was only poured as a 3oz pour and not the typical 5oz pour..
Something was up this night with the good and staff that was off. I’ll probably wait a few months now before I go back and hopefully they’ll have these issues resolved.
Steak was perfectly cooked and I was pleasantly surprised by the oxtail marmalade. The staff is top notch and they made sure I had a great dining experience. Will definitely go back again.
Service, food, and decor were all great definitely would return.
We had a wonderful time at Swift & Sons. We were celebrating an anniversary and they were so attentive and it was excellent food! Our server was wonderful.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Food was good albeit salty, but overall very nice experience.n
Quite literally one of the greatest meals I've ever had! Thanks again!
Great meal and great service. Very accommodating
Amazing. Treated so well and and will be back.
Everyone at Swift and Sons made my family celebration amazing---from the women at reception who were kind enough to hold our table considering an unexpected delay, to the wonderful server who both had fun with us and made sure we were taken care of... to the chefs that prepared an amazing meal. Everything was excellent.
Ask about the Wagyu sampler - great value and DELICIOUS!
The food was outstanding. There were 4 of us and we all ordered the Beef Wellington. The entree was large enough for 2 to share. We also had the mash potatoes which were excellent also.
Our group of five had a phenomenal experience at Swift & Sons! Michelle, our server, was amazing. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, you could tell that she really had a passion for her job. Service was outstanding, and we absolutely loved the magician that came to our table. You can't miss the chocolate trolley for dessert and I highly recommend the gin & jam cocktail. This was a very memorable meal, and worth the splurge.
Swift & Sons takes care of you from beginning to end - simply amazing. The service, the food, the experience, the ambiance...all were tremendous. Outside the box experiences like table side cocktails, Beef Wellington for 2, and a chocolate trolley made this among the most positive dining experiences I've ever been party to.
Ive been here multiple times. Always top notch service with people willing to go above and beyond to help. The food is incredible. Have never had a bad item. Always prepared well and comes out in a timely manner.
Service and food was exceptional
Lively environment, solid wine list, incredible bone-in fillet and killer brussel sprouts!!!
My husband and I ordered the 18oz Kansas City Dry Aged Steak. It was not tender in fact my half was very chewy and did not have any flavor. The meat looked solid almost ham like. I had the French Onion soup which was good. My husband had the Caesar salad which was very good. We shared sides of mushrooms which were a little dry and sweet potatoes which were tasty. The three tiny sauces served with the steak for the table of four to share were just okay. I was really looking forward to dining at Smith and Sons since it is rated by Chicago Magazine as one of the top ten steak houses in the city.
