With a bustling location in Lincoln Park and another in River North, Taco Joint brings the different flavors found throughout the streets and marketplaces of Mexico to Chicago. The menu includes a selection of tacos made with braised and grilled meats, housemade salsas and handmade tortillas including; Barbacoa from Central Mexico, Cochinita Pibil from Yucatan and Carnitas from Jalisco. Other street fare includes flautas, tortas, tamales and quesadillas. The cantina features a variety of specialty margaritas and cocktails, Mexican and craft beers plus Chicago's first tequila cages. The interior combines natural wood accents and iron along with colorful distressed walls and murals to give you the feel of a small town in Mexico nestled in the hustle and bustle of Chicago.

We went to Taco Joint before a show at Park West. We had 6 in our party - 4 high school students. Their basic sauce is very spicy. The waitress did not give us a warning on how spicy it was or that there is a mild option available. Two people could only eat a small portion of their food before the spice became too over powering. I personally love spicy food so I enjoyed it, I do think a warning should be given by the waitress or at least the option of a mild sauce should be mentioned. The restaurant is VERY loud. We had an incredibly noisy group behind us. I couldn't hear the people at my own table. We will not return.

Thought we had a reservation we had to wait in order to get a table in the main dining area. Food came out extremely quick and drinks were yummy. Would definitely go again but not on a Friday night. It was extremely busy and was hard to talk with my friends

Overall food was great. Not a fan on their regular salsa but the corn queso dip and guacamole made up for it. Al pastor taco was fantastic, barbacolla taco was too spicy for me, my mouth wad burning! Overall good experience, will be back.

My favorite consistent spot in the city. Always great food, and for a very reasonable price. Only areas of improvement for the restaurant is they should have a better beer menu, and their service can be spotty.

Very cute place located a few minutes away from DePaul’s Lincoln park campus. It wasn’t crowded for a Tuesday night. The food came at a decent pace and was quite good! The El Pastor tacos were delicious as well as the guacamole!! I definitely will be coming back again.

We had great chicken tinga tacos, but the sides were just ok. The rice was bland and the street corn was a little overwhelming with too much of whatever the spices were. Our server wasn't very attentive and we had to track her down both to order and to pay. But I would for sure go back and get the tacos again! Plus the prices were really reasonable.

A very robust crowd for a 7:30 reservation for which we were seated early (which was great). Not Taco Joints fault, this place caters to all, and some patrons were just too enthusiastic for the space.

Taco Joint was awesome as always! We were in on a busy Friday night, and the hostess could you have been more accommodating. We didn't sit at the bar like we normally do, but the service was just as excellent at the table! Despite being really busy everything was incredibly fast, fresh, and delicious. One of our favorite restaurants in town for a reason!! Thanks guys

Taco Joint is a great place for authentic Mexican. It's a very young, very loud crowd and most seats are backless stools. I'll go back, just likely not on a Saturday night!

Server was so friendly, and service was so fast! Food was amazing. Only downfall was chemically smell from kitchen, at least we knew everything was super clean! Will ask to sit further from kitchen door next time.

Taco Joint is amazing! The bartender will make you a jalapeno margarita if you ask (and you should) - tacos are delicious, atmosphere is great. Wish they didn't allow people to bring kids in here....

Baja fish tacos are delicious.

Reason I would not recommend to a friend is it is too noisy to have a discussion. Realize that's probably due to the construction configuration but regardless, it's an issue.

Staff and service were great. Food was marginal, at best. Had the fish tacos -- brittle/burnt shell so much "filling" fish was difficult to find--let alone taste. Guac was delicious. My husband's tacos were, as he said, tasteless. Very disappointed as our first visit was very good! Maybe just an off night.

Taco Joint's street corn was ahhhh-mazing! It had a hint of lime and wasn't too overwhleming with the chile powder used. Had a total of five tacos between the two of us and the hands down fav was barbacoa. It was very tasty. I thought it was very unique for the menu to have the taco of the day.

Everything was delicious from the guacamole to the chocolate pecan pie. It's a little noisy, but we were expecting that. I miss the sangria they used to have, but the margarita was good. For those who complain about the size of the tacos at other places, they are a good size here.

We came for Nation Margarita day ($5 specials!). The guacamole pair we got was really good, tradition and rojo. Our waiter was so nice and energetic. He made a great recommendation when I ordered my tacos. He recommended the cochinita and I also got the al pastor and barbacoa. They were all amazing. It was a little too loud but it was national margarita day after all!

Restaurant and food are great. They claimed they don't take reservations/open table when we arrived... until I showed the email. Luckily we were early and they could accommodate our reservation, but could have been an issue if we showed up for our 4pm as scheduled. The staff claims they no longer accept open table, probably something to look in to..
