Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The food was really terrific, and we had a great server. It was hard to hear him over the ambient noise and bumping music. The food prices are pretty exorbitant, but the cooking methods of everything and flavors are terrific. The food was pretty spectacular with so many ultra authentic Peruvian dishes. The decor is okay, the fixtures are dated. I remember when this was THE hot spot, so it was kind of interesting seeing it in a new light. I would definitely go back for the food - but I would reconsider booking a business dinner there in the future. Just a little loud and not quite a replacement for a steakhouse.

Food just ok, female bathroom dirty and floor is sticky. The personal super nice but believe they may be understaffed because it was some wait time. Also, some warm dishes were cold, had to sent back.

First night in Chicago, booked Tanta a couple of weeks back before leaving the UK, have had Mexican, Argentinian and Brazilian food in each of the those countries and Peruvian seemed like a good idea, it was. Service was slick, polite and unfussy, explanations of the various options were clear and easily understood. The Pisco Sour was top drawer, just the right balance so as not to destroy the palate. The Cebiche cured fish was perfect, not over cured it had integrity and bite, served with toasted grains, corn, red onion and chilli it was Delish. The grilled Veal Heart was another great dish, perfectly cooked, still pink in the middle alongside potatoes with a piquant and mildly spicy sauce. The Empanadas selection was also top drawer, often the pastry let’s them down but these were light, crisp and filled to the brim. A couple of glasses of Chardonnay washed things down. All in all a great night. It’s probably not the cheapest option in town but the quality of the ingredients, expertise in cooking, presentation and overall experience were definitely worth it.

The food was too expensive for the quality and portion. Good environment and the customer service was good. Just disappointed because I spent so much money there. However, I enjoyed the food better in other less expensive Peruvian restaurants in DC and NC.

A real live human answered every time I called the restaurant. Such a rare thing that I appreciated a lot! They were very accommodating. The food was sooo good. Very fresh and flavorful.

I’m usually a huge fan and have been to Tanta many times. However they were a bit off this visit. The ceviche just didn’t seem as fresh as normal and had a lot of tough pieces of fish. The octopus was good but the portion of actual octopus for the price was underwhelming. The chaufa aeropuerto rice was good and hit the spot. I’ll always enjoy Tanta and will be back in the future, but this was a fairly average experience.

Although this is a rooftop it is only one floor up so the street noise can be heard. Since it was such a hot night we were trying to get above the heat to enjoy our special dinner with friends. The food and drink was delicious, but very expensive for the 6 of us.

Not much options if you don’t eat sea food. Our meat we did get was over cooked. They ran out of chicken around 9pm .. so e we couldn’t get that either.. Would not go again..

We hadn't been here in a few years, and I was really looking forward to it. I have enjoyed the food in the past, and honestly everything has always been fine. Two women greeted us when we reached the top of the stairs (please note - according to them, the downstairs does not open for brunch and the elevator was not accessible), the one who actually checked us in was very pleasant, but the other who sat us just seemed annoyed to be there. Once seated, we ordered our food and drinks. Our drinks came out quickly followed after a bit of time with half of our order. We were doing tapas style dining so that was no big deal. Unfortunately, the remainder of our order went MIA. We finished the first round and about 10-15 minutes later the waitress apologized stating the kitchen was overwhelmed because they were so busy. She said the rest of the food would be right out. No worries, things happen. Unfortunately, the food did not come out. We flagged the waitress and she said she'd check on it. The manager was on his phone behind us -- where he'd been almost the entire time. I mentioned to the others how it seemed odd that he was not more involved if the restaurant was so slammed with business that it couldn't keep up. Suddenly, our waitress told us the manager was now involved & the food finally appeared. A food runner brought it up on a portable table, but then walked away. After waiting a couple minutes, we decided to serve ourselves. Throughout this experience we had asked for hot sauce from 3 different people 4 times. The man who bussed the table was the last asked and the first to deliver. What was funny is two more cups came up after we were done. Not a huge deal, but the compilation of issues makes this a restaurant we will skip in the future. The food is still good, but there are too many great Chicago restaurants offering better dining experiences. Note - They did comp us some empanadas & a dessert we told them we did not want -- the dessert came anyway, go figure!

At 11:00am, the place had music blasting like once is there to dance rather than to eat. I was impossible to have a conversation without having to yell. Very uncomfortable. Food is really good, but the noise has become a major problem of this otherwise very good restaurant.

The food was very good, a little pricey. The wine list is off the charts marked up - similar to many downtown corporate restaurants. Tanta would benefit to take a wine lesson from Michelin Star restaurant Goosefoot and make good wine available at reasonable prices.

Thank you for a wonderful experience with your team. From the moment of entering the front door, we were met with stellar service with an authentic smile. We had a reserved space on the outdoor (uncovered) rooftop and it was perfection. The noise level was as expected for a downtown hot spot but nothing unbearable - we were able to continue our conversation with no bother. The team does not allow a lot of standing around from folks near the bar so being at at the tables was perfect and no bother. The food is amazing, fresh, and quick. I had one of the Wok dishes and it was cooked to perfection with the egg, shrimp, steak, and veggies - came straight to the table in the stone fire bowl- kept the temp especially with us being outside on the rooftop for a handful of hours. Now, I can only speak to the Pisco Sour drink that I had 2 of. They were perfect and refreshing. You will see me again. I've been trying to find the time to get here for years and used a business dinner as an excuse to get here. We had a time and I will be back before rooftop season comes to a close.

It felt loud and busy. The menu was a bit hard to break into. The ceviche was outstanding. The piece sour was great, if a bit sweet. It all seemed expensive. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, but I probably won’t be back due to the overall ambiance.
