Not usual for me to be so positive but wow. We were there on half price wine night and that made all the difference. Our server was also so nice and have great suggestions. I will be going again.

EXTRAORDINARY meal! The leek gnocchis are incredible must have. All the parrilla items are amazing. The papás provenzales outstanding. Fantastic service.
Julian and the Tanto team never disappoint. Great dinner where we let the staff take the lead in making a special dinner for 4. Tanto is the best of a very cool scene around Queen West. Very highly recommended and will return frequently.

My husband and I went for dinner on a Friday night. The staff were accommodating and moved our reservation from 8:30 PM to 7:30 PM when they got a cancellation. We ordered a beef and a smoked ricotta empanada - I thought both were good - not great. My husband, who has spent time in Argentina, liked neither. By their own admission, beef is from Ontario - not Argentina. The grilled cabbage dish was very good. The calamari was not. The sweetbreads - which was one of the dishes we went for - had been taken off the menu days before. Wine was expensive - $78 for a bottle of Verdicchio. Cava was served in a regular wine glass and was not good. Ambience was fine. Very disappointing overall given what the reviews led us to expect.
Ambiance is pretty good - kind of too cool but not too noisy and tables well spaced - good lighting for dinner.
We ordered three apps to share and all were very good: the beef empanada, the morcilla (excellent!) and the manchego. The sauces for the above were so excellent, we requested a half-order of bread, which came w/ tallo i.e. whipped beef fat. This was unsurprisingly fairly gamey and not nearly as good as the aioli, olive oil, etc. that came with the other apps. Then we shared the hangar steak, which came cooked perfectly with wonderful roast potatoes w/parsley garlic sauce (oh, yes, you do want these!); we also ordered some roasted pequillo peppers, which were fine but nothing to write home about. Finally we shared a desesrt of whipped chocolate and peanut crisp/brittle which was generously portioned and quite excellent since it was not too sweet. Do give this place a try...
We came for NYE. The ambience is great, nice and relaxed. Every dish we has was really good. Nice tapas style with a lot of variety. It would have been nice to have been walked through the menu a bit as it was our first time there, but our server seemed busy, which makes sense because it was NYE. Good Value, really nice staff. I’d try it again
The food, particularly the meat and the octopus, were outstanding and the service could not have been more spot on. Would definitely recommend.
Hands down one of the best new restaurants in Toronto.
You have to love meat although other options available. Service was pleasant and every course came with explanation as to what we were eating. Would return for tapas as well. Fantastic!
The food was good, but the portions are very small. Between 4 of us, we got 8 plates and were starving by the end (even with a $250 bill). I would still go again, but with different exceptions.
The temperature in the restaurant was cold and every woman was wearing a jacket.
We highly enjoyed our experience at Tanta! The server was so friendly and knowledgeable and guided us through our tasting journey. She even paced out our dishes so we could enjoy our wine and relax and have little tasting dishes in intervals. It was super romantic, the food was extremely impressive, and such an enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend for romantic date night, or foodies looking for an Argentinian experience in the city.

We had a wonderful meal with fantastic service. Could not decide what to order so opted for the "let us cook for you". Wow! Especially enjoyed the back ribs, bavette and the tuna....but everything we had was great. One of our party is a wine maker from France and i have to mention that he was really impressed with the extensive wine list and the knowledgeable sommelier.
Every dish was delicious and uniquely prepared to perfection. Especially loved the grilled squid, beef epanadas, and flat iron steak!
Food was expensive with small portions, but overall worth it. I never enjoyed having to essentially sit with two other tables after performing a balancing act to get to my seat- realizing this is just a reality for small downtown restaurants across Toronto.
Great spot if you're a meat eater! The steaks are mouth watering and cooked perfectly!
Fabulous. Great food, great room, great service. Loved all of it and would come back in a second.
We went for an early and quick dinner and, by choice, sat at the bar. We tried several menu items - the squid, the tongue, the sweetbreads, the sourdough bread with tallow - and were impressed with every one.
The service (Conor, our bartender, and Madeleine, the sommelier) was absolutely perfect.
We definitely will be back when we can spend more time.

My husband and I enjoyed an excellent meal at Tanto. The menu was surprisingly unique and every dish perfectly executed. The sommelier Madeline help pick the prefect wine to go with our food and Connor at the bar kept us entertained. The decor could use a refresh but the open kitchen with its wood burning fire is the spotlight. We will definitely be back!
This was a special dinner,celebrating the 20th anniversary of our oldest son who is married to an Argentinian lady(this is an Argentinian restaurant), and the 3rd anniversary of our youngest son. I booked the reservation on Open Table but called the restaurant to give them this information. Service was helpful & attentive. They presented us with a plate of cookies and a candle at the end of the meal - which was an O.K. gesture. I felt that they could have made a little more of a celebratory effort, especially since it was a very expensive meal.
However everyone thought that it was excellent and we had a great evening !
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw Bone Marrow butter on the menu as I browsed Tanto's menu online. What I was even more pleasantly surprised with was the warm and unpretentious atmosphere, and the friendly and professional service. The food is outstanding, the cocktail serving generous... the only annoying thing for me was to have to pay for 4 slices of bread. That was the only negative thing for the evening. The space has great lighting and is vibrating with energy. It can be super noisy and so, not the best place for an intimate dining experience, but the flip-side of it is that you will definitely come out of feeling energized and not sleepy. Highlights were the smoked ricotta empanadas, the grilled tongue, the braised rabbit, and the sweetbreads. The bavette was also over-the-top delicious! Definite recommend!
Was quite disappointed that several items mentioned and recommended in almost every review of Tanto were removed from the menu. Namely the grilled cabbage, potato churros, bavette and banana and dulce de leche milhojas. Therefore, we were forced to blindly order new dishes. Sweetbreads were tasty. Ribs were extremely tender. The star dish was the grilled squid. The flavors were phenomenal, but the portion small. Overall, the prices I found were a touch high for what you received. Pleasant meal, but nothing spectacular.
The restaurant has an amazing atmosphere with friendly knowledgable staff all happy to assist. Let them guide you through their incredible menu and you won't be disappointed. Truly the best dining experience start to finish!
The restaurant has a “let us cook for you” option which I LOVE. Decor is beautiful and lighting is relaxing. Servers are professional and intelligent.
Our server Sam was amazing! All the food was absolutely delicious but definitely on the pricey side. Some dishes could have been bigger. Overall had a wonderful experience.
We were celebrating a birthday in our group of 6. Food and drink were great, we would go back for sure. Took stars off because of 1. Fruit flies everywhere which can be a bit unappetizing and 2. We felt a bit rushed from our table at the end (really should figure out a way to balance encouraging good paying tables to stay and not kick them out vs maximizing turnover!).
Fabulous meal and even better service by staff. Items came to our table in a very timely and organized pattern. Tanto started our evening out perfectly and was one of the highlights. Thank you.
