   What a rush..! You got to put your whole order at once. They do not take your appetizer order until you tell them your main course order. We got a $100 bottle of wine and the waiter was rush serving the wine even the glass was yet full. It feels they are pushing you out. Not a place to have a special occasion. And the waiter, as cold as the weather. I have been visiting Tao for more than 10 year, and I have seen how the food and service quality have decreased.

   Lovely place. Service was good however looks yo be under staffed. The food was very average Asian food. Nothing worth the $$$ charged. Go for the atmosphere, not for food.

   Anniversary dinner while visiting New York (from London). It was our first time at this location and the experience was wonderful. One of our favourite restaurants, sensational food and impeccable service as at other locations.

   Service was an issue. Attentive enough but seemed as though we were bothering the server. Made everyone at the table uncomfortable and they were so excited to be there from out of town. We weren’t offered the lunch specials which are clearly on. The website…and we ordered some.

   This is a great place for lunch, especially if you can choose the lunch specials. You can visit comfortably, as there is a feeling of spaciousness. Service has always been excellent.

    Tao is one of those "popular" places that is still worth visiting. Often filled (especially late) with "beautiful people", the food is always competent and often superb. Shabu-shabu (Wagyu) is not to be missed. Shishito peppers in the same category. But many dishes just a cut above. Worth the trip and the late crowds if looking for reliably good pan-Asian cuisine.

    I was really disappointed. We came in all wet, our coats were soaked from the rain and they guy at the entrance told us he didn’t have enough notes to check in all our coats… sounds kind of weird… why not just make sure you have enough notes? When we got in we noticed that the music was way to loud. Our waitress forgot some of our drinks and requests and the main dish took more then 30 minutes after we had finish our first course

    Wait staff was amazing! Proactively asked about food allergies before I brought up to them. Food was excellent and arrived at the right times. Still crushing it after all of these years.

    It's a nice semi-quiet (not too loud) place with great Asian food and an extra-dimensional environment. All the food has the correct balance of seasoning and flavors. I ordered the Miso Bass. It was moist and had an interesting blend of tastes. It kind of made me want to learn how to cook this for home. Went with some friends, and they enjoyed it too. It's a good place to go if you have a special occasion or if you just want to get out of the house.

    We hadn't been to TAO for years, and were reminded of what a lovely atmosphere there is for a midtown restaurant. The food, however, was quite bland, overall - perhaps we could have requested more spice, but noone asked when we ordered. The portions were generous and prices reasonable, and we enjoyed our experience overall, but wouldn't rush back in light of so many other choices.

    Had a fantastic evening, the restaurant was very busy. Our service at the bar while we waited for a table was very friendly and personable. Our server for dining was on point, quick efficient service. Great recommendations were also given by our server.

    Lower rating simply because there is still a $40 charge on my credit card for the reservation that was only to be applied should we no show. Clearly was there, checked in at the front desk and specifically asked about the $40 and the lady who checked us in stated clearly this is only if you didn't show but you are here...quote un quote...frustrating that restaurants even do this given you spend about $500-600 for 4 people...

    Sharing the experience of bitter hospitality received by Tao Uptown Manager. Despite carrying valid ID Card , i was forced to get the passport from my hotel which caused me inconveniences along with stress followed up by lowly gesture with the business associates. The manager was negligent & behaivour was rude to the extent that i have cancelled by other Tao reservations booked at other locations owing to this experience. Condemning such gestures by Hotel management & sufferings to the guest coming to have a good dine time. Eventually Unhappy with the services :(

    We celebrated a bday! Our server was fantastic and really made the evening super special! We ordered the gigantic fortune cookie with fruit and it was beyond delicious. Festive and fun! Great vibe and well managed restaurant.

    Poor service. No accountability for issue and over talked us and did not accept their error. It was a birthday meal and very disappointed to have poor experience. No offer to put right or recompense us. Arrogant and won’t be coming again.

    I have not been here since 2007. Have to be honest, didn't even know it was still open! Has the same awesome vibe and food! Had a wonderful time celebrating my wedding anniversary with my husband last night. I like that they have upbeat music on in the background but you can totally have a conversation without having to talk loud. ( I can't stand that lol) We will definitely be back! Food was excellent and so was out waitress. She was great!
