Taris on the Water
The food was great and the service was very friendly.
Unable to make 5:45 reservation but they accommodated us (8 people) despite being busy. Much appreciated. Food presentation and taste is outstanding and service was excellent. Highly recommend Taris on the Waterb
Food was good.. what i ordered was not what I expected but it was still pretty good.
The restaurant was clearly understaffed. The food was excellent and beautifully prepared but it unfortunately did not make up for the other short falls. We had to ask for water to brought to our table a number of times, and one of the meals for our group came 5 minutes after the other three had arrived. Other tables were waiting even longer just to have their order taken. When we had to pay their system had gone down and the only solution they offered was to take our cc info and input into an app on the owners smart phone. A very unsettling experience. Their tone was unapologetic and rude. Not sure I would recommend or return which is a shame because the chef is very talented and deserves to work in a restaurant that treats the customers as well as he cooks!
Atmosphere is elegant, service was friendly and courteous, food was OK.
This is one of our favourite places to dine. Have never had a bad meal. The wait staff are all very friendly& eager to accommodate. When you don’t feel like cooking, it’s a nice place to go, relax, enjoy the excellent food & beautiful scenery.
Great on all counts! The staff are knowledgeable, personable and attentive but not overly so. The food was beyond delicious! The ambiance was warm, airy, and a the terrace is a fabulous place to spend an hour or an afternoon. So appreciated that there are Gluten Free items on the menu.
The meal was generally very satisfactory. One guest could not eat the flat steak as it was too tough.
The restaurant ended up not charging her for the meal. Overall the rest of the meal was good.
We enjoyed a great meal at Taris. It's a busy place and people are coming and going a lot. Service was also very good. Great place to eat a relaxing meal on the water.
Wonderful dinner from start to finish! A great gem that we’ll definitely visit again soon! A new favourite...great meal & fabulous spot!
Had a wonderful dining experience at Taris! Would definitely go back again.
This is a hidden gem. The food, the location, the service! You have eat there!
I went for my birthday lunch. It was excellent and I was treated to a dessert on the house. Staff was attentive and food was delicious. Definitely going back!
We got there and got a drink at the bar then proceeded to the patio where we were seated in one of the igloo bubbles. It was about 0 degrees C outside and warm enough inside to eat comfortably. The food cane and was good value for what you get. We had amazing food and some drinks for around $100 per couple. Service for an outdoor igloo was phenomenal.
This is a jewel of a place to go to. The food is fantastic. The service is top notch. The whole staff welcome you back.
They have little igloos on the patio for the winter for you to have a special dinner with someone or with another couple. Can't wait to book an evening. We don't know of any other restaurant in Welland that can compare to this beautifully decorated location right on the canal bank. Well worth the short time to get to Welland.
Service was very good. Food was good but the menu is a little limited but this would be expected from a bistro style restaurant.
All in all a nice evening.
We had a great meal here. Shared the fried chicken dinner for 2 and a nutella cheesecake. The food was delicious!
Wonderful restaurant. Great view and focused menu. Our local and regular.
Would highly recommend it to anyone. One of the nicest restaurants in the Region.
Food quality and presentation has always met if not exceeded my expectations.
Fantastic Valentine’s day dinner
Service was fantastic!! Lovely meal.
Such a nice setting, and the menu has something for everyone. Prices are very competitive and reasonable! An adult setting which is appreciated.
We have been here numerous times with very good experiences but this one was not good
Great food and always friendly staff. A lovely place to meet friends for lunch. Love it!
Great dinner. Can't wait to go back. I had the steak. Next time the lamb.
Great food. Great view. Great atmosphere. Owners who genuinely care about the experience you receive. What more can one ask for???
Best Restaurant in Welland! Have been here many times for dinners or lunches. Recommend it!
Our first experience with Taris, on our anniversary, was generally quite favourable. Ambiance was pleasant, and service was quite good. My main complaint was the escargots I ordered as an appetizer. Although I even asked for them with additional garlic, they came with what seemed to be none at all. It's a high price to pay for a dish which costs little to prepare, but has little effort given to preparation, and they won't be ordered again. My seafood bowl, although tasty, contained far too many chick peas (not my favourite), and not quite enough seafood. My wife's mussels appetizer and chicken main were reported as being very good. A shared chocolate dessert was delicious, and appreciated. Overall, it was a reasonably good dining experience, and although we'll be selective in what we order, we'll be back again.
My wife and I both started with the butternut squash soup. I really didn't know what to expect but I almost fell out of my chair it was so delicious! I could have eaten a much larger bowl! We just returned from a 5-star cruise and this soup was better than anything we had on the ship. Excellent. We ordered the steak for main courses. Frankly, I make a better steak at home on the barbecue. It was a little tough and not well seasoned for my taste. The potatoes were very good, as were the other vegetables. Desert was a very good crème brule and a caramel cheesecake. These were excellent as well. It is a limited menu that I wish was a bit more extensive but overall a great dining experience.
Overall a good experience. My wife's steak and my seafood were very good. Two minor negative comments. The wine list was somewhat lacking in terms of high quality local NIagara options. I also felt that the restaurant was a bit warn and and a refreshing of the furniture etc. would add to the experience.
That said will return as the food and view was great.
Would definitely come here again if racing at Welland Intl Flatwater Center. You can sit outside by the Welland canal next to a bridge that it lit in the evening - very nice ambience. Food was not cheap but delicious and worth every penny (we tried the pakora, bruschetta, salads, grain bowl, porcetta, butternut squash ravioli, and ribeye). Service was fantastic and it was just a nice, relaxing place to eat the evening before our regatta. A few really good veg options, too., for the vegetarians among us! Good job, Taris. We have been telling our other team-mates about this place and we will definitely be back next time we are in town.
As always a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious and our server so attentive and with a great personality. It was a beautiful evening so we were able to eat outside on the deck looking at lit Bridge 13 (in white light this evening) with the sparkling reflections in the water.
Wasnt quiet impressed with taris was first time dining there. My main was good but very oily and brown butter sauce wasnt what i thoughtmy boyfriend's ribeye mushrooms and sauce tasted burnt and the "green beans" were completet black on one side and flat. I cook for a living and eas very under whelmed as well He waited at least 15min for another drink
We went there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Food was average. Service was okay. The lady (with red hair) was super kind but our waitress (blonde) wasn’t very accommodating. Parking is very hard to find and the community is unwelcoming. Beware: if you’re ethnicity isn’t white, you will get a lot of stares and racial slurs. But the view was great.
The best restaurant in Welland if not the entire region
The occasion was to celebrate my 68th birthday with my daughter. We requested an outdoor sitting. The initial introduction to our table was pleasant and we were able to converse quietly. However, two very satisfied customer decided to share their wonderful experience with the owners, who were sitting behind us. It was so very loud and intrusive, we eventually had to move to another table further away. Their conversation continued loudly, much longer than necessary. Seriously, we both spoke in loud voices to hopefully get their attention. No luck!
Finally the customers left and we had the most amazing evening. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Cocktails before dinner, wine with our salad and delicious, perfectly cooked steak. The final treat, compliments of the house was a celebratory bubbly glass of champagne. A perfect ending, that diminished our initial discomfort. Will be sure to return! The sooner the better! :)
By the way, the initial overflow of loud noise was to express to the owner, the fact, that, "His hamburger was the best he had ever had!"
Wonderful for sitting outside next to the Canal. Food was so-so. Staff was very friendly and funny.
Would go again, but mostly for the atmosphere.
Lovely location and amazing food. Would return without hesitation.
As a Torontonian originally from Niagara, Taris on the Water is a terrific discovery of the new regional offerings! In step with the gentrification of Welland, this thoughtfully designed venue hits all the right notes. The wine list and menu have unique local highlights. The staff are charming and informed. A view of the Old Canal along with its historic lift Bridge 13 are inspiring. Although I was only there for a get together with friends, I did noticed that the Merritt Park amphitheatre was in full swing, which would make Taris a great after performance gathering place. Looking forward to my next visit. Tip: be sure to try the Calamus rosé.
It was a great evening . Good food great service. It was a bit loud but everyone was having a good time.
