Our waiter was rude at the beginning. I'm assuming he was annoyed that we hadn't decided what we wanted but we were a table of 8 and it can take time. Further, he didn't share with us what the "soup of the day" or "pasta of the day". The only reason we found out was when we saw them hidden on a sheet inside the menu and ended up inquiring. Midway through ordering one of the guests hadn't decided what they wanted so he said he needed to attend to another table and left abruptly nowhere to be seen. Our food took quite awhile to come and when it did our pasta dishes were cold. When we said so, he responded saying that this was impossible as they had just come out of the pan. Odd considering the 5 out 5 people with pasta all had the same issue.
Great Italian food, consistently served, however the arrogance associated with the restaurant is a bit much - dont ask for any small changes or additions to your meal. I made the mistake of asking for some balsamic vinegar for a dip (bread, calamari) and was told "sorry but no" by the waiter; the chef would not give it to me ("they didn't have it in the kitchen as it wasn't consistent with the southern style cooking in Italy" was what I was told) - which was a flat out lie because it was used in the Funghi Assoluti salad I ordered. I get authentic cooking, but come on, get over yourselves. That said, they do have the best pizza I've tried in Toronto so I applaud them on that.
Tuesday and It was very busy! Good place for a date night!
Always reliably good. Properly prepared food served up with extreme expedience. Great for family dining or small celebrations.
Great, attentive serve
Food was very good, although a slightly larger portion would have been nice on the pasta dishes. The olive oil was FANTASTIC and served as an excellent base for the bread and even dipping the calimari into. The espressos at the end, arrived cold but when pointed out to our server, were replaced.
Very nice Sunday brunch! No stumbles anywhere - food and service get a TWO THUMBS up!
Amazing as always!!
Always awesome! My favorite place!
4 of us were there on a Saturday evening and it was jammed packed. I guess that was the reason that we had to wait for the server pretty long, but the food was served in a decent time. Our pizza was burnt badly and my salad had a tuna and the green been just out of the can. The pastas were fine, but nothing special. I asume they have a better service/food at a less busy time.
First time. Brunch was first come with no table reservations. Two of the staff clearly did not want to be there (one forgetting some ingredients and cutlery; and the other liked to slam dishes on the table). Overpriced and underwhelming experience.
Had a great meal, would definitely come back. Minor gripe: personally I do not appreciate when the payment machine is set to have an 18% tip as the minimum default tip. Prices have gone up, and tips are a percentage of that, so why is 18% now the suggested default for good service? Further, tipping is now calculated on top of tax by default. I'm not cheap and am happy to tip for good service, but all of the above just further relieves restaurant owners from paying their staff properly and shifts the responsibility to customers. I don't like it.
Worst attitude I have ever experienced in a public place. I just cannot believe how people go to this place and being treated like that by a group of snobs. Unbelievable !
Always a good bet
My main was forgotten and showed up after everyone else’s. Waitress made zero eye contact. Restaurant was off its game
Fantastic dinner. I enjoyed the gluten free menu and had a great pasta and warm chocolate lava cake dessert. The bathrooms playing Italian translations are adorable. It’s quite busy and chatty so I’d say more of a nicer family vibe place than romantic. It was perfect for celebrating an occasion with my uncle and cousin. The service was quick and efficient although the personal connection wasn’t there service wise.
Food was to die for. Service was outstanding. Great menu and wine list. It’s a younger place, bright, hip, and loud. Music was disco and 80s. I’m an older guy so I would have preferred quiet, dim, and Sinatra. But all kidding aside, the food and service makes it an amazing choice. I’ll definitely be going back. Great experience - truly enjoyed it.
Lively and fun for groups.
Food was alright.. I had heard great things about this place but was disappointed.
Went early on a Saturday evening, and it was packed. Tables are close together and small. Our server was nice and efficient. We ordered a pizza (foca meu - delicious!), pasta (ravioli - meh), a glass of rose, chocolate cake and 2 lattes. With tax and tip came close to a hundred bucks. Not worth it to me, mainly because I don’t enjoy being in a cramped and noisy space. Go to Bar Centrale downstairs if you want an evening of quiet conversation.
A good reliable staple. Great atmosphere and fun vibe. Service needs a bit of improvement. Had to flag down the waiter two or three times for pepper, Parmesan etc. My child’s pizza came out five minutes after everyone else’s food.
I will always recommend Terroni to a friend! It always impresses me with the quality of genuine service, authentic ambiance, casual Italian touches, and how quickly you get your food! The make-your-own gin & tonic option is one of the best with a great selection of International and Canadian (Aviation!) gin and flavoured syrups. Despite how large the restaurant spaces have become, and how busy they can get, they remain one of my absolute favourite restaurant spots all around the city! The new Yonge & Eglington location is going to be absolutely FABULOUS when it opens! Just remember to make a reservation at least a few days in advance for any larger group-It doesn't surprise me but this place has become a high demand destination restaurant in Toronto city.
Food was very good however bright the wrong dish and recreated it poorly
Wine red repasso excellent , would have liked it soone with a chance to breath maybe decanted
Awesome. Great selection of vino
The food wasn’t up to my expectations. The pizza and pasta was definitely not worth my carbs on my cheat day!
I've visited Terroni for many years with friends and my family. It's always a tremendously popular spot. My wife ordered the lamb agnoletti, which was superb, as was the pizza. I had the seafood linguini, which was disappointing -- it had only a light garnish of seafood on the top. They've also gotten rid of their Italian draught beer, which is sad. We'll try this location again, but my feeling is that they are slipping.
I will be returning!!!! I visited once last year and thought that my meal was ok, but on the second visit, I am hooked!
Great atmosphere, great food, good service a little loud but expect for a Saturday night. Reservations a must
Food was not as good as usual. Waitress spilled my glass of sparkling and did not replace it. She asked us if we would like another bottle which we would have to pay for and did not offer me what she had spilled.
Went here for a Friday night dinner with my family and we enjoyed the food very much, the grilled calamari was spectacular albeit simply presented.
Consistently poor service . Food is good but the servers seem untrained with a don’t care attitude .
Food came out all at once (appetizers & main course) and we were forced to eat everything immediately. Also food came out very quickly and made us wonder whether everything was already pre-made. In future, patrons should be asked whether they want appetizers served first.
I’ve been dining @ Terronis for 15+ yrs .... food, service ~ everything - Such was not the case this time!
Generally my experience here has been great. This time around, during a work lunch, my guest's marguerita pizza came with one piece of basil on it and my pasta lagged 7-10 minutes behind the arrival of the pizza. Not a great experience.
Good service and very attentive. Good time had by all
Delicious and we had a terrific server.
It was great except we were seated at a weird little table that was basically in the fireplace. It was way too hot - should not have a table there!
The food was absolutely great - but our server was quite short and curt with us, dismissive. I'd also requested a candle for my friend's dessert because it was her birthday, and that didn't happen.
