Very good food and excellent service. The main front dining room is lovely and soothing as always. Brunch menu essentially the same as dinner menu except for a couple of items - a starter salad and "second course" pasta are plenty for a nice lunch. Bonus points for having some local Maryland wines on the wine list!

Outstanding food. Flavors so well crafted, interesting and new. Service very nice: polite, friendly, attentive. Server actually checked on us so often it was almost intrusive, but I would rather that than the alternative. It was a slow time for them and I think they were just trying to err on the side of caution. Overall was great way to celebrate a special occasion.

Chris our server pushed way too much food on us despite our many - probably annoying - questions. The sheer volume of food actually affected negatively our enjoyment of the entire experience. However, what we were able to consume was excellent! Same for the coffee - terrific.

We’ll be back for sure (now that we have learned how to order!). Next visit, we’ll probably just sit at the bar and snack.

Service was excellent. Food was good. Room was empty, and we were seated right by the room entrance. There were many other better tables, and we could have been given a better one. Only 2 other tables seated while there. While I could have asked for a better table, I don’t like to do so..

Sadly we did not get to eat here on New Years because they were closed. However, no one from the restaurant or open table reached out to let us know so we showed up ready to eat only to find out the doors were locked. Luckily we were able to find somewhere else to go. But overall just disappointed that no one took the time to contact people with reservations on a night like New Years

The food is absolutely outstanding. However, the service leaves a bit to be desired. In my opinion, for these prices, I want better trained and educated staff. The timing of the dishes could be better. The second course came out while we were still eating the first course. The pastas and the scallop dish are incredible.

We dined here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was totally full but we never felt cramped or that we were ever waiting for anything (food, drinks, service, etc) Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and the food was fantastic. We placed our four courses at the same time and everything was timed perfectly out of the kitchen and was so good. We’d recommend the Halibut and Lasagna. Can’t wait to come back.

PS: We ended up grabbing a drink at the bar after dinner and saw that Bryan was there working that night but mingling at the bar. A really cool surprise to end the night with.

I was disappointed with the food overall especially after loving Volt. Shrimp and scallop apps were good. 2nd course mushroom bolognese lacked flavor and ravioli was ok. Halibut was dry for main course and I wasn’t a fan of the olive sauce. Dessert ice cream sandwich was good. It was not worth the price. Bummer.

Our second visit to Thatcher & Rye was as delightful as our first this past August. It is well worth the two hour drive from Lititz, Pennsylvania. Clark was our main waiter, again, and he does a great job. The entire staff is super. Food is superb and memorable. It is a restaurant where you can have a conversation with ease. The experience is so well planned and executed to the tiniest detail. We will be back!!

A shadow of it’s former self, Volt (even Family Meal). Hit or miss. Cocktails very good. Seafood tower very good except lobster, mediocre. Halibut good. Lamb good but sides, pâtés,foams, were actually unappetizing. Nothing was excellent except cocktails. Desserts mediocre. Not bad but not a good value for the quality. $390+ for 2 people. Decor is very bland and total lack ambience. Decor matched the meal. Will return…but only for cocktails.

We were late due to downtown traffic. We called and they were very accommodating. Menu was explained well. Everything was delicious. The smoked trout was so good. Honestly loved every bite.

Quite amazing experience. Food, service and atmosphere were exceptional. We started with the Little Gem salad and then we each had two Second Courses, we each had the lasagna and then the Ravioli and the Truffle Risotto. And the ice cream sandwich to close!! The lasagna matched the best we have ever had.

T&R hits it on all levels. The wait staff is effective and enthusiastic - and open about recommendations. The atmosphere is both elegant and a little funky (very old and historic building, and much of the original interior preserved), the food is wonderful, and the menu options consider just about any appetite. Frederick is about an hour drive from my home in NoVa, and T&R makes it well worth the trip. (Added bonus - I stupidly left my credit card and got a phone call the next day. Thank you!)

The food was amazing at Thacher and Rye. We loved every appetizer entrée and dessert that was delivered to the table. My overall review was poor because I had a $500 gift certificate which I was told in advance would be applied to the bill, however when we got there they said they had no way to validate what it was worth and would give me no credit for it. This was not an appropriate response and an embarrassment as well because we were treating our friends. I hesitate to go back or to go to any of the Bryan Voltaggio Family of Restaurants until this issue is resolved.
