This place is spectacular! Great location, amazing food and drinks and relaxing vibe. I’ll defiantly be coming back!
Great food, and our server *was* good, but maybe not quite as attentive as he could've been. We sat on the "wine bar" side which has a similar but slightly different menu, and everything we ordered was delicious! However, my partner and I were there for our anniversary, and they ended up seating a group of 6 next to us, at a table that was meant for no more than 4, and so they were practically spilling into our lap. So, more the host's fault if anything, but I would still recommend the food highly. The "wine duo's" were also fun.
Appetizers were very good. Entrees were barely room temp and in some cases cold
Nice place, cool location. Very loud if you want to be able to hear your people. Drinks were great. Food was below seattle average.
Food and service was fine. A little expensive for what you get however. The problem I had with this place was that they added 20% gratuity on a 3 person bill without letting us know beforehand.
I don't work in Tech, so I found the prices - including happy hour - were too high for not only the amount of food, but also the quality of the food. The $19 Crab cakes were small and did not taste very good.
Also not that great:
- Onion dip - Almost flavlorless. Trader Joe's makes better onion dip.
- Fries - Run-of-the mill
- Chicken wings - OK, but lots of gristle
The food was edible but not the least bit special and not worth the price. Also, the bill comes with an automatic 20% service fee, which I found to be a turnoff, even with the explanation of what it pays for (employee benefits, etc.)
Thackeray was fantastic - for a Sunday busy brunch day, the staff was attentive, accommodating and very pleasant. Food was a bit SLOW on delivery, but patience is the key during busy times. That's really the only drawback. Thanks for your attention to staff and customer relations - that can make a break a restaurant!
Felt it was good but nothing outstanding. Very noisy environment with industrial style ceiling, nothing to absorb sound. Service was good, not outstanding. Prices average to expensive for what you get. Wouldn't choose to go there again.
Food was very good. We started with calamari, and then had fried chicken, burger, and steak salad. All delicious. I will say that it is very loud in the dining room and hard to hear people at your own table. It's a large room with no soft finishes whatsoever to deaden noise.
Thank you soo much for accommodating our larger group, the staff helped us set the table without blinking an eye! Food always amazing!
Nothing special about the food; crab cake too oniony; the lamb chop blackened and pea vines too vinegary.
Fortunately we arrived early in evening; by time we had finished, we could not hear each other over the table.
Do NOT go for restaurant week. The lamb entree literally had only 2 bites of lamb and very stringy/weed-like greens. I left hungry after a 3 course meal. Good service and atmosphere, and cornbread was great, but the entree ruined it for us.
I judge a place by its breakfast potatoes... and these are now tied for best I’ve ever had. Add spicy chicken and pancakes, and it’s a place I’ll hit for brunch regularly.
I’ve been to Thackeray several times and have always loved it. Service was very slow - from ordering, waiting for our food - long wait - to getting our check.
Incredibly loud and hectic. Eggs came out lukewarm.
This was our first time dining here and it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very cozy!
Good vibe. Friendly device. Love the decor. Sat at the bar which was fun. Food was delicious—nice mix of flavors which blended well together. Will def go back!
Good menu and value. Food felt slightly over seasoned with a lot of fat added to the dishes.
Went for brunch. All good. Pleasantly surprised to see full range of seattlites there.
Excellent service and ambiance! Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere, great service. The restaurant felt cozy and the food was delicious. The lamb chop was absolutely to die for. We also had the cornbread, calamari, and bolognese. Would recommend all those menu items. I would go back here again for another date night!
Food was good but overshadowed by how loud the dining room was and how rushed we felt with the server stopping by every minute asking for our order.
Great brunch spot.
Everything about this restaurant's food is good.
Problem: They force customers to pay a 20% Service Charge (regardless of quality of service).
This practice is not right. In addition, they says 100% of this will go to the staff. And yet they break this down as 20% going to the restaurant to help them pay for wages (or pay for costs to operate their business). THIS IS GOING TO RESTAURANT. If you can't pay for you team's wages, then you should not be in business. Build it into your profit margin ... your food prices.
DO NOT FORCE A TIP ONTO YOUR CUSTOMERS, this is not acceptable. Next, are you going to charge for cleaning your restaurant or tables or kitchen?
Sadly, I may never go to this restaurant again (AND any restaurant that does this). I go to many restaurants in Seattle, approximately 150+ meals a year. Restaurants who force this will NEVER have my business.
Horribly slow service. Took 45min to get 2 sandwiches, a soup and a salad. Felt bad for the family who sat down before us and still hadn’t gotten their food by the time we were paying our bill.
Yes, it was restaurant week, but we sadly had high expectations when we previewed the fixed menu online. The dessert we’d hoped for wasn’t available. We both chose the replacement offered by our wait staff, only to find they didn’t have enough fo both of us. The two desserts that arrived at our table looked as if they were afterthoughts.
All I have to say is Crispy Brussel spouts. They are amazing. Beside that amazing dish, the drinks were all excellent. Main’s were solid, it’s the small plates/apps that shine.
Service was attentive and on top of it but the food definitely took awhile. We went on a Thursday and restaurant wasn’t full. Not sure what the wait for food would be if it was bustling. It was very good and I would definitely go again. Even though the menu is small, there is something for everyone no matter what your food restrictions are. Very well thought out!
The food was great! Eileen’s service was top notch. A little overpriced for quantity and quality but still great food.
Service was almost non-existent. The bartender doubled as a server for half the restaurant so if anyone ordered a cocktail, he would be gone... for a really long time. At some point, the hostess stepped in to bring some drinks to the table but just overall, a hot mess. Really wanted to like it since the food was decent but again, once they set it down, you never saw your waitstaff again. Took away from the entire experience.
Overall good experience, but burger was overcooked and the entrees in general were a little cold.
It's a place to try out, but I don't think I'll be going back for the reasons mentioned below:
1. We've made a reservation for 11:30, but were not seated until 12. This already was not a great start for us. Waiting 30 minutes to be seated when I had made a reservation was a complete waste of our time. That being said, I do understand that sometimes things happen, but , that being said, I also believe it's crucial to communicate to your customers & update them every once in a while when there are delays.
2. To remedy the situation, once we were seated, we were given a cinnamon roll on the house. To be honest, neither me nor my boyfriend wanted it. We did try it, but as suspected, it was way too sweet for our taste. This nice gesture only ended up being a burden for us ; since we didn't want to throw away/waste food, we ended up taking it home....
3. Food I'd ordered was ok. The Ethiopian chicken was very flavorful, but the crust ,in my opinion, was too thick & hard to enjoy . Pancakes were ok as well-seemed it maybe had too much baking soda? (didn't like the aftertaste).
I do want to point out some positive aspects :
1. We had a very pleasant server.
2. I liked the interior design of the place, although it was a bit too loud.
Service took too long, food was terrible and bad value for prices charged
The food was good. My clams and linguine was a bit too much on the clam side... meaning strong clam flavor. Could have had more garlic and wine to balance off the clams. Our waitperson kept asking us what we wanted to drink... 3 times in less than 5 minutes. We didn't want to be rushed into ordering. We finally told her to wait until we asked her. Clearly too concerned with turning the table. Still... I like the place but wished they wouldn't be in such a rush.
Our seventh time there. We loved it. Look forward to visiting again soon.
Brunch with our one year old was great! Enough noise for his babbling to blend in with the atmosphere. Lots of high chairs. We ordered him a meal off the kids menu which in retrospect was way too much food. I think next time I would just get him a side and share my meal.
We had good service but I was highly disappointed with my burger, ordered medium, it was well done and dry. The cheese was not melted, onions were not really grilled, bun was cold. The fries were cold and wilted. It shouldn’t be that hard to make a good burger on a good bun-or not have it in the menu.
I definitely would not return to Thackeray. Too many other good restaurants out there.
Bad day Eggs not cooked. Food severely delayed in being served.
Regular visitors to Thackeray. Their brunch is amazing. Check out the Benedict and chicken with pancakes.
Good neighborhood spot for brunch. A few Mediterranean ingredients here or there but mostly New American style.
