THACKERAY is a neighborhood restaurant and bar with a warm and inviting atmosphere that combines welcoming service with an eclectic interior.
The menu is seasonally inspired and bold in flavor. Mezze spreads, braised meatball subs and lemon-anchovy charred broccoli are just some of the features in our shareable category. Main plates include dishes such as mussels and prawns with a Pakistani curry broth, Ethiopian spiced fried chicken, prosciutto bolognese and a house burger. We serve lunch and dinner during the week and feature a brunch menu on the weekends.
Drink offerings were developed by Heavy’s Spirits Director, Casey Robison, and Wine Director, Chris Horn; and will feature a wide assortment of spirits, cocktails, wine and beer. Highlights include a Spanish-style Gin & Tonic menu, as well as a focus on Aperitifs, Amari and sipping Vermouth. Rotating taps will feature local beers, cocktails, and kombucha.

Thackeray Ratings and Reviews
Positives were great food and fun atmosphere, nice ambiance. Negatives were high noise level and very slow cocktail service. Plus watching our drinks get delivered to and consumed by the table next to us. If you go on a busy night ask to not be seated on the end near the bathrooms, you will listen to the metal bathroom/hallway door slamming all night long. I will return to Thackeray but I will sit at the bar. The bar seats are nicely cushioned and have high backs on them. Hopefully cocktail service will be a bit quicker there.
Really surprising how good it was for being a neighborhood spot.
Smashed potato is not to be missed!
We will be back here and soon. Great spot for brunch to celebrate a birthday with a group of friends. Attentive service, great crafted cocktails, unique spins on traditional brunch fare.
Delicious and inventive menu. Great interior design and a phenomenal staff. We stayed a long time to chat with our friends (and yes, we bumped up the tip as time went by), we never felt rushed.
An outstanding experience overall with great food and friendly service. The chicken wings were so good, we ordered another round. With 3 of us, we shared small plates tapas-style. The food was excellent, although the kitchen was rather slow that evening. Since we weren't in a hurry, it didn't matter. And the manager comped us those 2nd round of wings!
Excellent service and great ambiance. But, very little food selection if you're not a meat-eater. And, pricey for what you get. Plus they upcharge if you exchange one type of sauce for another, fruit for focaccia, etc. Wish I could recommend them as a great eaterie, but I can't.
It was a little bit noisy so hard to take my older friend.
Food tasted like it was cooked earlier in the day and heated to order. The fried chicken skin had a sponge like texture. The brisket tasted just awful-I can’t even describe it. Food was a perfect reason as to why the restaurant was maybe 30% full on a Saturday evening. A disappointing birthday dinner and $175 wasted. I will never return and would most definitely not recommend.
Server was really nice though.
Cool new place with good food and nice ambiance. We’ll definitely be back to try more of their food
Amazing food and best service in town. Highly recommend the Shakshouka or the fried chicken
Loved our server - and the great deal on corkage. Great big salads and probably the best fried brussels sprouts i have ever had. But the sound and the noise made it hard to enjoy my friends - or even hear them right next to me. The ceiling does not have any insulated fabric or boards - so when it is a full house (as it was on this Saturday night) it can be loud!
The Basil Pesto dish was very salty!
Food was very good but a few things were on the salty side
Had a great time on a date here. Really nice ambiance at night. Energetic crowd. A little loud, could use some baffles on the cement ceiling. Food was great. Nice special cocktails too. Definitely try the Chile Lime Mule.
Wife and I had an exquisite day downtown and wanted to end it with a good dinner. Thackeray was a great choice. The food was excellent (Brussel sprout appetizer was a standout). Our waiter was perfect, informative and thorough, but left us alone as well. Recommended.
Great food, cool restaurant, slow service. Took some 15 mins to get our bottle of wine once ordered.
Our waitress, Eileen, made this meal super special. She was helpful, friendly, funny and a complete delight. We were there for restaurant week lunch, and both our meals far exceeded our expectations - they were delicious and appropriately portioned. We will definitely return, and would highly recommend Thackeray Café and Bar to our friends and families.
Food was hit and miss. Sweet brunch dishes were better by a mile than the savory ones. E.g. the fluffernutter and pancakes were great, but the bacon and veggie hash was very disappointing. Small portion, lazy execution and lacking in flavour.
Coffee was good, service could be better.
Food was very good. Service was spotty at best. Acoustics are terrible (loud and cramped)
The ambience is to die for. Beautiful indoor and great decor! We ordered pancakes, shakshouka and brussel sprouts. The portions were really huge and delicious!
Food is really tasty, but unfortunately none of our hot food was hot. Lasagna was the biggest miss on temperature because Luke warm lasagna is just not so good. The kitchen is clearly talented and the service was stellar. They just need to work on timing - maybe getting servers out more quickly. I’ll be back to try one more time.
The space is large and beautiful, and very, very noisy. We found ourselves leaning in for conversation, and still needing to talk loudly. It would be a great place for groups, and you could definitely bring the kiddos without worrying if they would disturb anyone. The food was extremely tasty - the dessert portions were on the smaller side, but everything else was generously portioned. The food menu is small and cultivated, the drink menu is large, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Went there with some colleagues/friends to enjoy the special price of restaurant week. It was our second time trying a new restaurant during Seattle restaurant week and we were all disappointed my the minuscule portions that we got. I had the mushroom soup, porchetta sandwich and sea salt caramels. The porchetta sandwich was about 3x3 inches and when I received the caramels and saw two tiny squares on a plate we all laugh out loud. Even at the restaurant week price, this was not good value.
This is the second place I've been here and it was better than the first. This time, I was here for restaurant week. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the smoked trout spread in addition to the ethiopian fried chicken. This restaurant does not disappoint and I will definitely be back!
Lovely restaurant and great service. We came for brunch to celebrate my brothers birthday. Had a fantastic time! My family, who live far up north, ran late and arrived 30 minutes after our reservation. While I waited at the table, the waitress stopped by several times and was very kind. I will be back again!
The hosts were very friendly and kind to us - a great first impression! The menu was full of traditional, quality breakfast items, some with a spin on it. We loved the ambiance and atmosphere the restaurant offered - a great brunch spot! Would certainly recommend!!
Service at the bar was great. On the floor, we hardly saw our waiter. My friend ordered the shrimp roll type entree, and said the roll was stale. Wasn't too happy with the dish. I liked the prosciutto pappardelle; others said it was too salty. The popcorn snack was amazing.
Food and service was phenomenal. I had the fried chicken and apple crisp, some of the best food in seattle.
The restaurant week menu is limited and not really showing it's best.
Whatever you do, get the Ethiopian chicken and waffles. They were life changing. This place is really cute in ambiance, friendly in service, and delicious in food. A great win.
Decent food, but nothing to write home about. Nice atmosphere, ambiance and lighting was nice. Service was good, but not amazing.
Dining for a birthday dinner on a high recommendation from a close friend. We were seated in a dining area with no other dinners at a table in the middle, which was strange. The pleasant bar tender waited on our table, but the service was really slow and the kitchen was even slower! It took was an hour before we were served our main course.
Of our four meals, 2 were under cooked and one was actually really burnt.
Needless to say it was a really disappointing dining experience!
A handful of friends and I went to Thackeray for brunch and had the greatest time! We each got something different and everyone loved their meals. The atmosphere and service were great too. Glad we all picked this place as our new brunch place to explore! Also very happy they take reservations because sometimes that is hard to find in Seattle, especially for brunch. I hope to come back again soon!
The menu is eclectic as in global cuisines. We ordered lots of dishes to share and enjoyed everything. Will definitely come back.
Quality of meat was very good. These guys know what they're doing when they treat their meats. The servers had a decent knowledge about the recipes and ingredients. Make sure you check their brunch and dinner timings. Brunch menu goes all the way to 4pm and there is no lunch menu. We'll be going back for sure.
Really loved the food. Our server (Noah) was friendly and did a great job. Ambience - very loud. It would be great if there was some fabric (or something) to deaden the noise.
A group of us went there for a friends birthday. The food and atmosphere was perfect. The service was sub par with having to wait 20 minutes or so for our drinks and not seeing our server
For long stretches
Great open style restaurant with A LOT of room. Great for groups. Really great menu and we really enjoyed the food - especially the street corn! Lots of different environments within the restaurant as well. A super cute wood swing with a table - would be good for a date. Great service too. Not super cozy, but open and nice.
Interesting menu, excellent food and service.
We did the brunch, numerous choices based upon what you feel like having to eat.
