I'd heard great things about this restaurant and was somewhat disappointed. Some dishes were remarkable (the drunken noodles) and others were lack luster (The Penang curry did not have much flavor). The service wasn't very attentive, perhaps because we got there so early (5pm). I'm on the fence and would like to try it again.

If you’re gonna allow reservations at 9, well don’t close the kitchen at 9:30 and ask us to move to the bar/give us explanations. I’d cap reservations at 8:30. Didn’t get the chance to eat, decided to leave because people in our group were concerned with the kitchen closing and didn’t want to have anyone waiting on us.

The Thai restaurant is above a British-themed restaurant and the two are connected by stairs. Somewhat strangely, you can order off either menu. However, no one told us until the meal was over that the British food from downstairs often takes much longer than the Thai food upstairs. I was finished with my meal before my friend's even arrived. Fortunately, my choochee salmon was delicious! The service was somewhat slow and seemingly amateurish. It was about 15-20 minutes before our drinks order was taken. And the servers seemed to lack confidence and experience, but were very friendly. Would return in a pinch, but wouldn't seek it out.

We enjoyed our first trip to Thaiverse. We went around 6 in the evening and chose to sit in the "streetery" set up in front of the restaurant for all the restaurants on that stretch of road. Great ambiance, eating on a beautiful evening with a festive atmosphere. Service was attentive and good and pleasant. The entrees were excellent. We had drunken noodles and massaman curry beef. We also liked the fried oysters (which came from the Childe Harold menu shared by Thaiverse). Two small points off: I suspect that my happy-hour frozen margarita, which I drank on a mostly empty stomach but which produced no buzz, had little alcohol in it. Also, the "sweet and sour calamari" consisted of calamari breaded and fried to within an inch of its life, accompanied by a tiny container of sweet and sour sauce. Honestly, it was so flavorless it was hard to believe it came from the same restaurant. We won't order the margarita or the calamari, but we will go back.

Really was looking forward to Restaurant Week and trying Thaiverse. Overall food was ok, with the exception of the duck which was very good. Cost was very high - 3 people w 1 alcoholic drink was $182 with the mandatory 20% tip. Bill was also $20 over and I had to correct it. I do typically tip 20%, but service was awful. To give a feel, the food came out in this order for 3 people: 1 appetizer; 3 soups; 1 entree; 2 appetizers: 1 entree and then 20 minutes later the final entree which they forgot to make.

This is a really nice looking and quaint atmosphere. We rate the food only about 3-3 1/2 stars though. Had chicken pad Thai and it was sweet and sort of bland. We “may” give it another shot at some point, but overall sort of disappointed.

Average Thai food in DC. Nothing special. Service was poor. We ordered our food via some app and we had no eating utensils. I had to asked the "waitress" because she was too busy looking at something and assumed since we ordered via the app we were all taken care of. I will not be going back.

We loved everything about our visit EXCEPT the lighting! Goodness, the place was lit up like a cafeteria for dinner on a Saturday night. Definitely detracted from the experience. Too bad, since the food and service were excellent; the lighting was so harsh, we will not return until it improves. Fortunately for the restaurant, that is an easy fix!

The food was excellent. Best Thai food I've had in a while. However the server asked us to leave because they were expecting other guests. It was really vey peculiar. Weren't loud or doing anything unusual. Ordered several drinks and food. Paid for it all no problem. There were plenty of empty tables and other 4 person tables. The place wasn't even full. Thaiverse had revived my interest in Thai food until they asked us to leave for no apparent reason, unless of course they didnt like that two in our party were black. Dont get it but now I'm not inclined to go back.

I had lunch there this week with two friends. We shared two appetizers and an entree. All were delicious and the portions were a good size. The restaurant is lovely and it was quiet. The service was excellent.

The good was good, but on-par with any Thai place. The "Thaigaritia" cocktail was bitter and not very good. The servers used digital tablets to take orders and it felt very robotic. The servers were not very attention to when you wanted to order your entree or pay your bill.

Great new restaurant on Dupont Circle. Original location is in Middleburg, VA. Very friendly staff. Upscale decor in a historic townhouse. Food was excellent. Best Thai in the city. Great drink menu as well. Highly recommend!

My husband, 3 older children, and myself went to Thaiverse as a last minute decision, we were blown away by the quality of food and service. We ordered several items to share and they were all amazing, the Drunken Noodles and Fried Kimchi were especially brilliant. I would I recommend giving this place a try!
