We had some apps, masala chai, and two entrees. They were all amazing and piping hot! The chicken pieces are large and perfectly cooked, very juicy. The blend of seasonings is spectacular and moist rice a great complement. We only tried one of the naans and look forward to trying more in the future. Thali does a wonderful job at doing what they do best!

I enjoyed the food, and it was very quiet. I went on a Saturday night- it was quiet, and that were quick and able to accommodate the large group that I was with. Overall, awesome experience.

The food and atmosphere were good. Our only problem was how spicy it was. We requested most of our dishes to be "not spicy" and even though the waiter said they were not spicy, some of them were.

Have been coming here for years and they have come a long way in , elevating their standards in menu development, pricing and crowd attraction. We were there on a Saturday night; it was very busy and they were overwhelmed. But, service was friendly and our meals very good.

Thali's food and atmosphere are a cut above the typical Indian restaurant, but the prices are a bit higher as well. We went for a pre-theater dinner on a Saturday night and were glad we got there at 5:45, beating the crowd. By 6:30 it was packed. We liked the minty Palak Pakora "chat" for an appetizer along with a spicy cauliflower dish. The Coconut Saag Lamb Curry was also very good. The service was attentive and prompt. It is in a trendy neighborhood and we found street parking easily, although there is a public garage next door as well. We like Heirloom the best but it is impossible to get a pre-theater table there on a Saturday night unless you plan ahead, something we are not very good at!

The food here was entirely mediocre. I had heard good things but was ultimately disappointed. The temperature of the food was slightly more than warm, I even wondered whether the samosas were just poorly reheated. My daughter requested that her dish be spicy but it was mild. The only good thing was that it was quiet enough to talk but I suspect that was because it was not full. I would not return unless I had no other option.

Just great Indian food coupled with superior service. The lamb biryani was delicious and filled with lamb and the chicken tika was outstanding! The nan was piping hot and the lassi was creamy and flavorful. Whenever we're in New Haven, it's a must stop restaurant that offers consistently excellent food!

My husband and I have been to Thali about 20 times in the past two years and the food has been consistently excellent whether it's a meat or vegetarian dish. The spices are distinct and flavorful but not overpowering. The Gobi Manchurian appetizer makes you forget you're eating cauliflower and their lamb chop is pure heaven. Select any of the biryani dishes and you will not be disappointed. In addition, the wait staff is extremely courteous, helpful and attentive.

Indian food is a favorite of mine when done well, and everything here was done well. We went for an early lunch to just catch up and enjoy the afternoon. This place was perfect. Service was good without being intrusive. Everything we ordered was delicious, and easy to share. The wine was delightful. Would definitely do this again.

Had an excellent dinner here with my girlfriend. We went for a date night and had a great time. Everything was excellent as noted by the five stars. Biggest tip is that on Sundays they do a lunch buffet where the whole menu is available to sample. We will definitely be back because everything on the menu sounded worth eating. I will also not the service was superb, attentive, and the staff was very attentive.

Based on reviews, I expected to be wowed. I wasn't. I liked the buffet more than my husband did (he would have given 2 stars). Waited forever to get water. And the naan came after we had finished our meal. This despite the fact that there were several servers. Will not return.

Great food and they have an amazing list of adventurous cocktails. Went to celebrate Father's day lunch buffet. There was a huge selection of food and lots of wonderful dishes but they did run out of some items rather early in the buffet time frame. I saw some disappointed customers. I was fine since what they had was already enough. I guess if you want to be sure to try everything, go early. But considering what you get, the lunch buffet is super for those who want to try out lots of different dishes. Dinner prices are much higher.

We haven't been for Indian food for several years and tried Thalia after the Best of CT magazine came out naming it #1 in CT. It was excellent, the waiter was very helpful, explaining various dishes, and making my wife's entree slightly less hot. Nice wines by the glass and beer list. All around enjoyable.

The curry at Thali still feels like it has a regional flavour - it's not overcome by cream or sugar, it's full of carefully constructed spice and tastes absolutely wonderful. Everything we ordered on New Year's Eve was wonderful. It may be more spicy than you're used to, so avoid the dishes marked as spicy if you're averse to some heat! We will be back to try more of the menu!

Our meal was good to very good: baked spinach (served cold) for a shared appetizer, chicken curry and duck (missing the taste of the tandoor oven in which it was reportedly baked). Service was extremely solicitous and pleasant. Wine list was up to the job. Ambiance was reminiscent of Hayes Bickford cafeterias and sort of a downer. A six-block walk from the upscale neighborhood around the Yale Art Museum on Chapel Street into an increasingly downscale and sketchy neighborhood on Orange Street.

Thali is our favorite spot for Indian food! The flavors are subtle and unique from dish to dish, and we always have a hard time identifying a favorite. Our party of three started with Jaipori chicken kababs and Ragda patties to accompany our creative and delicious cocktails. We then moved on to shrimp biryani, Kori Gasi and lamb vindaloo, of course accompanied by raita and naan. Every dish was absolutely delicious. There wasn't a drop left when we were finished! If you think all Indian restaurants are the same, think again. Eating at Thali is a unique treat!
