The Boon Fly Cafe
Named for a Carneros pioneer named Boon Fly, who planted orchards and vineyards in the area in the mid-1800s, our café is a homage to local flavor.
Boon Fly, descended from settlers of the early New England Colonies, was part of the great tradition of wagon trains that brought many of the early families west. He was drawn to the farmlands north of the city and settled outside of Napa on a property that would become known as the Fly District.

What a great meal with perfect service
Good was amazing and our server was extremely kind and funny.
We are going back tomorrow! Wonderful fun and service and food
Loved our server - she was amazing!
Unique building with great family style American cuisine. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the ambiance.
Always love coming to Boone Fly Cafe'. Their staff is always friendly and courteous and the food is delicious. My only comment is, bring back the Root Beer Old Fashions!! They were delicious!!!
Alway enjoy going to Boon Fly! The fried chicken is to die for and everything else is good too. Friendly service and awesome food!
We loved it and will definitely be back!! We had two salads which were the best we ever had!! I had one of the flatbreads and my fiancé had the burger . Outstanding !! And the donuts are to die for!
Excellent food and service. The flatbreads are superb. I travel extensively internationally and, the flatbread we had is for sure among the top 3 we have tried. Thank you.
Casual atmosphere, great salad and onion rings. Drinks were interesting.
"Smashed" potatoes were cold. Kale looked unappetizing and was spicy. Fried chicken had little flavor. Carneros Garden Flatbread was good. Ice Cream Sandwich was massive. Overall a lot of food and very nice service.
Fried Chicken can't be beat! Must have donuts for dessert AND breakfast!
Excellent service, delicious food, a memorable night out!
Excellent food and service; will definitely be back!
I thoroughly enjoy Boon Fly Cafe, but was a little disappointed this time. Was looking forward to their Root Beer Old Fashioned, in fact I took mom there specifically for it, but they don’t make it anymore. I understand that things change. On the other hand I was exceptionally delighted with the vegetarian flat bread. So delicious! We’ll definitely be back!
You know, I have to be really picky to find fault in our dinner the other night! The staff, service, food (the salmon flatbread was incredible!), all made us plan to come back. Thanks for everything!
Was hoping they still had outdoor seating but only inside seating was an option. Food was ok. I realized that Boon fly cafe is better if you get takeout as its indoor area is too small for ambiance.
Shrimp and grits were very tasty!
Food was great; service was proficient and polite but not enthusiastic or very personable (both hostess and waitress) and we were there at a non-busy time. Good experience, not outstanding or memorable.
Danielle is the best server ever! Friendly and knowledgeable!
Nice selection of entrees and sides. Great service and a vibrant energy. Fun place with a relaxed diner ambience.
Disappointed in the service . Cute place. Wish they read the notes that we were celebrating a birthday
Great place for a light meal on the way home to Napa from San Francisco.
Sitting at the bar for a meal is very pleasant also.
Their salmon flatbread is delicious. They also have great root bear floats, and more.
Flys every where.
A really fun experience. The service staff was a hoot. The food was terrific. Tried the fried chicken - super crunchy but a little dry. However, the potato and greens with it were phenomenal. One of us tried the special choppino and was blown away. Tried the donuts for dessert; dipped in chocolate sauce, it was the perfect ending. Saw some great burgers being served at the table next to us. We will have to go back.
We just had dinner at this place for a friend’s birthday. We ordered a variety of plates and were deeply disappointed with the food. Biscuits were burnt, chicken dry, no seasoning… one good thing was the mashed potatoes and the kind waitress. Each plate was around $28 and there was no quality or pride in the food the chefs were cooking.
Our waitress was amazing!! Great recommends, welcoming and accommodating for us to sit outside since we had a dog with us. Food came out quick and we would return
Amazing fried chicken and donuts. Not a health meal. 😀
Great service and setting a few minutes from Napa.
Boon Fly was a little disappointing. The set up in the parking lot is done as well as can be expected, but the tables get a little forgotten by the staff being so far away. Service was therefore pretty bad, which is a bummer at such a highly recommended establishment. Drinks (on-menu cocktails) were also pretty disappointing, especially compared to our experience at Boon Fly this same time last year. They seemed like well drinks vs. the craft cocktails we'd expected.
We made reservations. They took us right to our table. The waitress was very accommodating. We walked around after we ate because it was so interesting. The front porch swings were so homey.
My excitement to dine at Boon Fly Cafe was easily deflated. Unfortunately the pork chop entree was overdone and dry, the carrots were cooked perfectly and the tarragon based "salsa verde" too was a nice complement. The parmesan polenta cake was the most scrumptious item on this entree dish - perfect flavor and texture. The fried chicken entree unfortunately was also overcooked and lacked seasoning. The smashed yukons side was good, but it's not difficult (or is it) to mess up such a side; the braised garden greens could have used a boost of flavor, perhaps braising with whole garlic cloves or pork fat would have enhanced these greens; the king salmon was cooked perfectly and was delicious; however, the blackeye peas were undercooked just slightly. The southern fried calamari was the most outstanding dish, fried perfectly and accompanied by a delicious chipotle sauce. The warm artichoke dip with its star ingredient, pablano peppers, was also delicious. The original margarita cocktail was top notch, but the wine list a bit lackluster, but then again it is a cafe! Our waitress was warm and friendly and provided us great service. The outside dining area was a bit disappointing, but then when you are with friends, it's all about the company. I would like to try brunch at this cafe, but most likely will not be back to dine at dinnertime!
Excellent Food and Excellent Service.
The homemade doughnuts are awesome. Exceptional Food.
Food was delicious, especially the fried chicken and service was great.
Very good food. Gumbo, fried chicken, and doughnuts. Are you kidding?
Wonderful! Came here twice yesterday; once for breakfast and again for dinner. Both were great experiences. Breakfast was much busier but nonetheless excellent service and excellent food. For breakfast I had the chicken and waffles, then for dinner had the shrimp and grits (my favorite between the two!) Also had a watermelon mimosa for breakfast which was a treat as well. Coffee was very good. Love this place!
We had dinner here, which came recommended, though the staff seemed listless and slightly silent. Perhaps it was the end of a busy weekend, but the interactions were monosyllabic and uninterested. It was also odd that the music played by the chefs behind their open-air counter was audible throughout the whole restaurant and it clashed horribly with the music piping through the general speakers, intended for the patrons. As I said before, this indicates uninterested management. The biscuits here are amazing and you can come for them alone. The roasted pork chop and the salmon were okay, if slightly underseasoned. So, overall, we expected more. Brunch looks fun -- perhaps meals focused on the biscuits, like many brunch items, are the safe bet.
I made reservations and when we arrived they were peeping the table. Most of the food was delicious but the Mac and cheese was bland. Salmon and fries were fabulous , biscuits with honey butter and preserves were also. The service was crappy and the focus was not worth the wait.
Came for a birthday with some friends, service was great! Flatbreads were delicious and crispy. The rhubarb empanada was incredible, the lemon glaze with it was *chef kiss*.
Will be returning!
Food was excellent but we were a bit surprised when we walked in. The decor is extremely casual but don’t let that fool you. The food is incredible!
Crispy calamari very good flavor, salad was large but could have used more veg and less lettuce. Donuts were delicious.
