Room cold. Hard cold chairs. Was sat in awkward place (gangway between 2 rooms). Ate dinner in coat. No non alcoholic drinks on site. Food was ruined and drowned in a mass of salty sweet sauce - should had been separate in jug. Was asked for drink order before sat down and hadn’t looked at wine list. Felt uncomfortable and rushed.

BIG portions and excellent food. Even though it was VERY busy staff were prompt and friendly. The only slight issue was the table was a little small for 4 people. But otherwise excellent.

I ordered the fish n chips after previously having it at the salhouse lodge ( same group I believe) my main came and the plate was swim with more frozen garden peas than I’ve ever seen ..then a huge pile of oven chips that we awful ..the fish was not fresh ( definitely frozen) you could see that once the batter was lifted ..not much taste at all ! Our table was right by the door ( table of 4) although only 2 of us and my nephew was knocked so many times he moved round ..in doing this he was sitting in an open fire place !! To many tables crowed in ..very close together and because it’s a dog friendly pub ( which is great ) the experience of dogs around your table isn’t for everyone .. one table had their dog sitting on their lap at the table ! The staff we vet pleasant and welcoming..would I return !!!! Maybe just for a drink outside .

Very high quality and tasty dishes.Very pressured staff . We visited Saturday lunch over end of Easter fortnight adjacent National Trust property . Reasonable prices considering. My wife had sardine starter and trout main.I had soup and chicken breast main.Just beware if you are not into pork, chipolatas were hidden under chicken ! There are veggie options.
