An unexpected refresh of our culinary past. The cuisine is derived from historical menus, executed with a contemporary twist. The graceful restaurant setting is redolent of the building’s architectural pedigree, courtesy of the original brick facade, factory glass windows, a stained wood bar, and a statuesque wine cellar featuring a robust selection of extraordinary wines.

Best place in the city for bottomless brunch mimosas! Service is great - staff are friendly and attentive. Only down side is that the food portions are a little small, especially for the price.

This is the third time I've been to the Civic for brunch.
I thought I'd give it one more chance because I love the place and the environment.
Sadly though, every time (including this one), the service was slow and poor.
The servers were lovely, but not on the ball. We waited 15 minutes just to get drinks and when they arrived, they were all wrong except 2 (out of 6). The food was just ok for the price. One of my friend's asked for a few changes to her meal, but they brought her the wrong thing.

It's a great venue, but I think attention to detail should be addressed.

Great experience. Drinks @ the Rooftop Bar watching the sun set followed by dinner downstairs at The Civic. Lovely meal, wonderful service and a great vibe. Would return in a heartbeat!

Had a great time at the Civic at Broadview Hotel with my mom yesterday! We enjoyed that the section we were in had great natural light, it offered a really bright and cheery atmosphere to accompany our time together. Our server was very friendly and attentive; I had to order a gluten free meal and he and the kitchen were very accommodating.
Highly recommend the bottomless mimosas!

Loved the renovation and we had so much fun. Great wine selection. Unfortunately our eggs Benedict was cold, pea meal bacon overcooked. Will try to roof top patio in the spring.

Amazing service. Food was great, only complaint is that our ribeye steaks arrived cold at the table.

The service was top notch as were the beverages. The food, while delicious, was nothing special or unique. That being said I had eggs Benedict, how unique or special could it have been? I’d gladly return.

Great food, love that they taking bookings as so many places don’t esp. for Brunch. If you’re in a hurry though this isn’t the place to come. Always busy and always slow service

We had one prior excellent experience at the Civic (two years ago) but were hugely disappointed this time. There were two main issues: the restaurant was filled with a smokey stench from the kitchen and the new pasta dish was rubbery and flavourless. Hopefully these issues are only temporary. Service was impeccable.

Ambience and service were good. Food was alright. Nothing spectacular. Sourdough bread felt a day old. Shaved fennel salad was slightly too acidic, the blue cheese didn't complement it, and overall a bit bland and boring. The rib-eye wasn't cooked to my specifications, so I couldn't enjoy it all, but it was alright. The brussel sprouts lacked the bacon that it offered (or maybe we didn't see any?) and it tasted like it was deep fried in the same fryer as the fries, so they were just ok...

We had a celebration lunch for my brother’s 60th birthday. Went for the Winterlicious lunch and it was GREAT! An array of butternut squash soup, kale salad, pan fried salmon, melt in your mouth gnocchi and ...sticky toffee pudding!!
The service was attentive and the Civic Room is so well done, Eclectic, cozy and a respect for the past. They even added a candle to his dessert! Well done Kelly, our server.

We came for warly dinner and the ambience of the bistro was pleasant. The winterlicious menu is enticing, and the portion was great. The baguette that comes with the beef tartare was more of croutons consistency, which i wish it wasn’t. Other than that it was delicious. For the slow cooked beef short ribs, i could not really taste the red wine reduction. The short rib itself was very tender, it just lack taste a bit. The buttermilk panna cotta was refreshing and delicious. Overall, i am pleased with what i had.

Came to this place for winterlicious (dinner) and it was a total disappoint. I would really do not recommend this place to anybody.

It was almost $200 dinner (considering 53$ pp + beverages + gratuity + taxes) and the food was simply terrible: cold, salty, over cooked, Terrible!! I would say the soup was microwave re-heated.

Don't waste your money here please. We had a really bad experience and now reading the reviews I can see I am not the only one. Most of the people had similar experience.

It is a shame and I really hope they take this in consideration and try to make it better.

The service was the only good thing and the ambiance as well.

We absolutely loved EVERYTHING that came out of that magical kitchen!!!!!! Winterlicious is a perfect opportunity to try places new to us. The mussels and fish were cooked to perfection ( aka not overcooked) and the short rib melted in my mouth .... awesomeness.....

The food was not bad but nothing special. The presentation of the food far exceeded the taste. The potatoes were undercooked and all of the food was under seasoned. The service was good and although the space was nicely decorated, it is loud and lacks ambience.

Place was way to Smokey. Something was wrong with their air circulation. It felt like you were standing right in front of a Smokey BBQ.

We ate in the bright room because we love how full of light this room is. Bottomless Mimosa was a hit and my fried chicken sandwich was delicious. Eve memorised all of our names and was a so attentive.
We had a great time, all 6 of us and did not have to worry about our food after we ordered. Perfect Sunday at 1pm. Good coffee, good food, good service, good friends.

The dining room was beautiful and the service was good. However, the food was less than average for brunch. The kale and chicken salad came with a processed type of chicken on top but the rest of the salad was acceptable. My friend's scrambled eggs were a florescent color and we didn't know why but she said they didn't taste right. The coffee was really good.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll pass your comments to the Chef. Worth noting: our chicken breast is sous vide. This method requires less oil, fat, or salt. The end result is more uniform in texture. We're sorry if it came across as processed. The eggs have no additional ingredients, other than salt & pepper. The color and taste can only be attributed to individual yolks. That said, we're glad you enjoyed the coffee and we hope you come back soon!
