I think this is my new go-to place in the Market! I love the ambiance here, the food is great, and the servers have been good. My only complaint - get some more local beers on tap!

We arrived and after having a reservation for about a week and not requesting being put at a high top table they wanted to put us at a high top at the bar. We pushed for an actual table and the final made it work. We were fine finding somewhere else to eat…there a ton of restaurants in the market…so it was either going to work or not. The bar would not be my top choice - our server, who was also the bar tender, was average, at best. The food was okay - appetizers were the best part - but the pizza was pretty much flavourless. My husbands burger was just okay. The fries were yummy. Walking away at $110 before tip we would gladly choose another restaurant in the area, despite the fact the building is beautiful and the ambience is nice.

I arrived on time for my reservation but the host said that they didn’t have my table ready yet, which I thought was strange because there were several empty tables and I had booked a reservation on here and he confirmed it to me that it was in the system. We had to wait at the bar for close to a half hour before we were seated. Super weird and no one could explain why our reservation wasn’t being honoured and no one could give an estimate for how long we might have to wait. I’m not that fussy and I get that it was busy but no one was apologetic or attentive, and there were larger parties coming in after us and being seated at the booths. Yet my reservation was just being ignored? So strange. When we finally were sat, the food and drinks were fantastic, but I’ve never had a reservation ignored before, and would have liked a “sorry” at the very least!

The food was tasty, but… We were served steak with no steak knives. My friend couldn’t cut part of her steak even with the steak knife. We ordered a starter that was clearly not enough for 4 people — advice would have been great. Another friend ordered the cod and she said the breading didn’t seem cooked. We were each served one drink — at least 3 of us would have had more but we were never offered more. I tried to catch the eye of a sever a number of times with no luck. We’re hoping it was just an off night.

Great cocktails! Food was okay. Ordered the trout which was cooked perfectly but the veggies underneath were overcooked and hardly tasted puffy wild rice. Friend ordered the cod and chips, and really liked them.

Fantastic spot in Byward Market - one of my new favourites in Ottawa. Happy hour runs until 6pm and has especially good deals. Lovely formal ambience for a business meeting or even a date. Would highly recommend and will be coming again soon!

A go to spot and food doesn’t disappoint. Overpriced for brunch in my opinion. $18 for an English muffin is steep. The staff and ambience are great though. I’ll return but maybe not for brunch.

Food was excellent; I had the niçoise salad and the tuna was so fresh, done to perfection (and I am very picky about fish!). Very nice servers. Music was too loud in bar area, but just right (quiet) in the "back room."

E had seen the dining rm earlier in the day & loved it, made plans to have dinner at The Clarendon that night, 8:30. We sat in the “barrel” shaped booth in the bar room (exactly where we hoped!). At some point, every staff member was doing something at our table: the order, drinks delivered, appetizer and dinner, plates cleared. Every one of them were so nice! The ambience was cozy, too. We had the KFC cauliflower app (yum!). Hubby said the burger was a 4 star, not 5. My little beef pie was insanely yummo. GO!

Always a great place to go. Wonderful building and great staff. Friendly, efficient, never rush you and good food. Menu changed and still some of their familiar staples. Will miss the curry though.

Decent food quality but exceptionally disorganized staff….no one really seemed to be serving us. Initially, the bartender approached our table stating that he would be looking after us and was the one to take our orders. When our food took an extraordinary amount of time to be served, we asked him and he went to check saying it would be out momentarily. After more than another 10 mins we asked him again and he through up his arms and yelled from the bar…”Wish I knew…I am bartender!” When I called out asking if he was not our server he responded with “this is why I have runners”. When he came to table later, I told him this was inappropriate and unacceptable, he did apologize. Overall, bad first impression for people who just moved 100 feet away in Byward Market.

Love the vibe here and the patio is great. The food though is mediocre. Had the tuna poke bowl and there was not much flavour. Tuna had zero taste. The trout was ok but very small portion. Love the patio and the style of the bar.

Restaurant was almost empty inside yet we were seated at the far end from bar… no one else there so not much ambiance. Took a long time for waiter to come to us even to take drink order. Never came to check on us once food arrived. We even had to get up and find a waiter to get us salt! Food okay. We were there using a gift card our daughter gave us for our anniversary… they love the Claredon.

Delicious food, the beef brisket was incredible and the cocktails were delightful too. We had a very friendly and funny server which added to the experience. Beautiful terrace and environment. We lounged there for hours as the food took some time but it was worth the wait. Highly recommend!

All fine, but couldn’t get passed the service, 1/2 hr to,place our order, had to chase the food,. Staff was pleasant but hard to find. To pack away extra pizza to take ( because had run out of time) , server just dropped the box on the table and we slid it off the plate ourselves. Food was good and price reasonable but I won’t go back.

We made a reservation (7 hours in advance) however when we arrived at the restaurant, they didn’t have a table for us. So we were told there were two tables to choose from one by the entrance and the other table in the lounge that over looked into the dish pit. The server took a while to come greet us once seated but she was pleasant. The beef was good but my friend had ordered the pork chop which came very overcooked and the meat was dried out and tasteless. The server didn’t come by to check on the food. She kind of just disappeared. Finally the bartender came over and asked if we wanted anything else. Which we didn’t and he brought us the bill. Overall, it wasn’t a great experience. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere for that price in a place with better food, better service and better ambience.

We waited almost an hour to get our appetizer, which only came after I went and asked someone about it. They did comp it and were apologetic and attentive after that. The place itself it really cool, food is fine.
