   The steaks here are top notch, fire grilled in front of the customers… and the Brussels sprouts side dish was absolutely killer…. Hints of ginger and soy it will make any brussel sprout hater a believer!!!! Service was also excellent, and I have never been in a restaurant that has such atmosphere!!! Definitely will go back every time we visit Orillia!

   Common stove was wonderful. The portions were just the right size and the food was delicious. The halibut was cooked very well with the skin on and they burger and fries were great as well. The server was fantastic english guy was good to deal with and not overwhelming at all

   Ridiculously loud to an uncomfortable level. I reserved a table, I was asked on the form if I was celebrating anything... I said yes, my 25th wedding anniversary... not a single word was mentioned to us at the restaurant... what's the point in asking? $45 for a small steak that only came with soft mushy French fries... are you kidding? No vegetables? Sat like a stone in me, needed some acid to balance the dish. My husband got the half chicken, very bland, needed seasoning and also some acid to balance. $15 Cocktail was served in a aperitif glass - so tiny. Very disappointing to say the least. Will not be back.

   Visited for Sunday Brunch/Lunch. Had a seat near the open kitchen where we could see the preperation of our Porterhouse steak which was wonderful. Steak was cooked exactly to our liking. All food was of excellent quality and served by knowledgeable and courteous staff. desserts were delightful. the wine list has a selection of quality wines. Beside a little mishap we all enjoyed our meal tremendously. We look forward to visit again soon. Best restaurant in Orillia by far!

   The Common Stove has a welcoming staff and great food and atmosphere. The owner was at the door to greet us and was very busy making sure things were just so all evening. A top spot to dine in Orillia.

   This was my first time in the restaurant and my husband’s second visit. It was a 50th bday celebration for me and my sister surprised me by bringing an extra 2 people than expected. The staff at the restaurant were so gracious about adding an extra table and seating for them and made our dinner experience so wonderful, even bringing out a sparkler/chocolate treat for my birthday. The food was absolutely delicious (and my sister runs her own organic farm/catering business and is an exceptional cook and raved about it as well). The restaurant set up/furnishings/ambience were very stylish and I liked that the tables didn’t feel too cramped. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return. Thank you for the lovely evening out.

   Overall the restaurant has a great vibe and nice open atmosphere. The kitchen being fully open to guests is always a nice touch and the fire grill was mesmerizing at times. The server who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming and took note of my reservation request for a “lovely table”. Our server was friendly and gave us an initial overview of the way their steaks are aged and cooked. We both ordered the filet (which comes with fries) and a side of the carrots. In discussing our side choices, we learned the fries are cooked in the same oil as their peanuts, so other patrons with peanut allergies should be aware of this as I don’t find this to be a common practice. My recommendation to the restaurant owner(s) would be to include this in the menu and train the servers to mention it when discussing menu options. We also ordered some cocktails to start (Edmund Fitzgerald and another - I can’t recall the name). The steaks were cooked to perfection and delicious, like butter in your mouth at times. The only feedback I have on this is the salt level was pretty high on the steaks (and I love and use a lot of salt). The fries were delicious and my daughter opted for a side salad instead of the fries (due to her allergy), which was an extra charge. Our server forgot to order our side dish of carrots which was a bit of a bummer but I understand he likely got sidetracked by the fries/salad swap. He did offer to order them but by that time we were halfway through our steaks so I passed on the request. Overall recommend The Common Stove to anyone who loves a good steak in a friendly atmosphere.

    A very pricey dinner. The food was excellent but for that cost a basket of bread or rolls should be included and I would also suggest a small chocolate from the local chocolate shop would be a thought at the conclusion of the meal. Fabulous heirloom carrot dish and fillet. Halibut was done perfectly but the meal was only tepid. Our server was friendly but did not bring one item until reminded twice.

    Very nice ambiance and open concept layout. Comfortable seating, good decor. Appetizers were good, drinks were good too. My son and eye both ordered rib eye steaks that were in the bottom 25% of steaks I've ever eaten. Lots of grissel and fat, not much edible meat, and what meat there was was tough. My wife and daughter ordered filet of beef and they were great.

    Amazing food, drinks and ambiance. Steak was cooked to perfection, fries with dip and broccolini were so amazing. Had the scallops to start… also so good. I had the Edmund Fitz lemon gin drink, it was perfectly sweet and tart. However as a younger guest with only myself and a friend i felt we were focused on a little less than other tables with older adults. We were also leaving a cash tip of over 30%, but seemed as soon as our server saw the machine receipt come up with no tip he said just basically thanks and walked away.. no have a great night thanks for coming or anything at all. Definitely left not the best taste in our mouth after having such a delicious dinner. But we’ll still be back for sure!

    AHHHHHmazing dinner. Fantastic steak, up there with the very best I've ever had. Great Fries and the garlic aioli sauce was SO yummy. For my own budget this wouldn't be a restaurant I could frequent often but it's absolutely a Perfect spot for special occasions for us. Excellent food, service, atmoshphere, ambience!

    This was our second time visiting Common Stove, we loved everything about our first experience that we knew we had to book again when visiting family in the area. Our waiter started us off with some great drink recommendations. Although we still loved the food we were disappointed that 2 of the entrees requested weren't available and then when ordering the Sunday Roast special, there was no mention of substitutions to us but we didn't receive the Yorkshire as listed on the entrée. Our waiter also disappeared during our meal and a different server cleared and took care of desserts and bills. It was just a very different experience than our first visit. We will likely book again, just disappointed by the food service.

    Our server Dennis was excellent. We started with the fire roasted scallops and they were delicious. For our entrees, I thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday roast dinner, and my wife had the lobster pasta, enjoyed it very much but would have preferred a larger portion. We added a glass of wine—hers a Chardonnay and mine a cab-sauv—both excellent and recommended by our server. We finished with the kindred chocolates, coffees and liqueurs. A very satisfying meal and experience. Thank you Dennis!

    Very nice restaurant with an inventive menu. Really high quality of food, taste and preparation. Small knock of the physical space that when it’s crowded like when we were there it can get a bit loud. Still a top notch experience and I would easily recommend it for a tasty meal.

    The Common Stove was even better than we imagined! The vibe, the energy, the friendly staff… it was all so exceptional. And my goodness, do yourself a favour and order a steak! My husband and I shared the 16oz Ribeye with chimichuri, and it was the best steak we’ve had in ages. We’re so glad we listened to everyone who recommended it to us. Definitely worth a second, third, fourth, fifth visit and more :D

    All of our steaks were tasty, however, all 4 orders were overcooked. Additionally, the brussel sprouts were very over cooked as well. We have been here on 5 previous occassions and this is the first experience we have had like this. The rest of our appetizers, sides, and desserts were excellent and on par.

    Amazing steak. My grandson called it " meat heaven". Drinks and sides were delicious as was the sticky pudding. Nice little buzz but certainly not noisy.
