Went here for a get together with a friend.
Ambiance was amazing, we sat at the patio, it was nice and quite.
However, I’m quite quite disappointed as the quality of food is poor, (I gave it a chance even although I’m not a huge fan of the Harvest room restaurant as well)
We ordered the Baja Halibut Tacos and the Kitchen board (both from all day menu). Taco fish was dry, kitchen board consist of a simple huge blocks of parmesan and padano cheese, sourdough toasted bread, 2 kinds of cold cuts and grapes, no proper cheese knife provided, we were given a steak knife. It lacks presentation- something that most customers would want when they go to this places knowing that it’s one of the supposedly”nicer” hotels in Edmonton. Service was ok, but I was not impressed with the food option and the quality.
We are delighted that the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is open again. The service and food were wonderful and the bartender sure knows how to make a fabulous martini!
Love the experience and the ambience! Great food and great patio!
Fantastic service and food!
Carmen is awesome!
It is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy good food, a beautiful view and receive excellent service.
Food and service was amazing! Pricey dish but good quality and quantity of food! Good bang for your buck. The patio was gorgeous!
Service was great. We appreciated the constant supply of ice water on that hot day. We like the new patio furniture. The view was as amazing as always. If we may make one suggestion, more items on the menu would be appreciated, at least a nice club sandwich :)
Food was ok but needs improvement. Would not go back for the tea as not worth the money.
We waited almost 15 minutes past our reservation time. The patio is a beautiful spot, but the food was barely average. The service was fair. I would recommend it for the ambience, but there are restaurants with far better food and service in the area.
Meeting new family
Favorite place in city
Slow over hour and half to get food, waiter seemed overwhelmed, overpriced for quality of food, it was my 50th birthday got a silver of a cake with no dazzle, dry and blah....definitely disappointed.
Lunch ended up being a beautiful day on the patio under the covered roof. The food and service were very good and the view of the river valley is outstanding. A perfect place for lunch on a summer's day.
Great view, comfortable seating, impeccable service. The salad was good, but I expected more for the price, there was really nothing special to it (ingredients were good quality, but it was bland and a little dry).
Everything was perfect for my wife and myself. The patio setting is the best in Edmonton with the beautiful gardens, and panoramic river valley view. The dining options were excellent considering the “new” circumstances. Carmen is such a wonderful, knowledgeable, and personable server. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. What a wonderful experience. We will return soon.
Celebrated our 1 year until our wedding! We were greeted by a pleasant host and a glass of champagne as requested. We were checked regularly to ensure we were enjoying our experience and the weather on the patio was amazing! Never been there before but would definitely celebrate another occasion again. The price is high as you would expect at a Fairmont hotel but definitely worth it!
We have a tradition of going to Fairmont for our anniversary. Usually it’s Edmonton as it’s local and the view and food is great. This year the view and refreshed patio were great. But the service and food did not meet the level expected. I ordered the steak at 43$, and it was flavourless. We started out the meal with our 20$ fish tacos which were cold and small. I usually rave about this place and understand they are adjusting to post Covid requirements but you still have to serve good food at that price. We left with a 150$ bill and both agreed next year will be the first year we don’t return on our anniversary after a decade.
The food was like cafeteria food. No other option for a side but the fries. We are easily pleased but it was awful. The steak was more like dried BBQ. The appetizer was worse. And the meal was $44 each entre. Dessert was dry and extremely expensive. Not worth it at all. We won't be back.
Over priced and you had to wait a long time
Beautiful set up; attentive, friendly and engaging service; excellent ambiance. A lovely afternoon on the patio with the best views in the city. Looking forward to coming back.
its our happy place! jsosem is absolutely outstanding! he has every asset as a manager to b a leader! his personality, customer care, attention to detail and infectious smile are worth every penny! true professional the fairmont should b proud of!
What a beautiful patio - honestly the best in the city.
However, there are some fundamental issues:
- The staff are EXCELLENT, however, they are run off their feet. There are not enough staff to serve even a half capacity patio. It took over 30 minutes to put in our drink order, and there were plates sitting on empty tables for long periods. The staff were so apologetic and literally running to serve, so it was 100% not their fault, but they really do need to hire more people.
- The tomato burrata appetizer is one piece of toast with tomato and cheese on it for $18 :/ Cocktails average between $18-$23, so do know that you're in for a hefty bill but would say it's worth it if they were able to up their staffing.
- I believe it would be beneficial if the newly installed awning could be drawn back, as it seems to entirely block out the sun, and the area that isn't covered doesn't seem to get the direct sun at all. Having such a short summer season, I think a lot of people would appreciate the option of 'sunbathing' while having a drink :)
All in all, we still had a great time, but please - help out those servers and hire some more staff!
Food was flavourless. Drinks were watery. Service was unbelievably slow. Just disappointing altogether
Very good evening although it was busier than expected for a Wednesday. Our waiter was very busy but provided courteous service
Smaller menu, very busy and only two servers... was very slow. But considering second day open since covid I would try again at a later date
This is our favourite patio in Edmonton. The view is spectacular, the service impeccable and food superb.
