Loved the ambiance, menu was spectacular and friendly staff!
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return Ashia!
Server was having a terrible night. Forgot items we ordered. Wasn’t attentive to our table at all. Was very disappointed because service is always great.
We are truly sorry for your servers missteps. We will be having a meeting today regarding the issues you had. Apologies again, as we are always trying to deliver perfection.
What an amazing find! Open Table did not disappoint!
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return Matt! We are glad you found us!
The food was absolutely lovely. I love that the restaurant picks a country and presents its cuisine for 90 days. It’s a bold concept and is executed surprisingly well. Will definitely go back.
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return Meowater!!! Turkey starts July 1st
Staff was kind and accommodating food was flavorful and not like anything I’ve recently tasted around Atlanta. The ambiance was great, love the decor and secluded location.
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return! We try hard to offer what the rest of Atlanta does not! Thank you for seeing the details.
Very creative, extra yummy!
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return Michelle!
I come every 3 months to try something new. This place is amazing. Great small plates, drinks and a really fun funky ambiance.
Rikki, we are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return!
New favorite spot in Atlanta.
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return!
Loved the ambiance of the restaurant; the variety of food was great. My girlfriends and I really enjoyed it.
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return Samone! We feature Turkey next!
The Consulate offers great food and cocktails in a fun atmosphere- our server, Christopher, couldn’t have been better. Unlike many tapas restaurants portions were generous for sharing and everything we tried was delicious. We will definitely be back.
Kino, we truly thank you for your visit and feedback! Chris, thanks you as well!
The consulate was an excellent choice for my birthday dinner! The waiter was attentive and although there were a couple of hiccups, he made sure that everything was corrected. I’ll definitely be returning.
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return!
inadequate waitstaff. Slow confused service. Powerball cocktail was outstanding. Casino Royale cocktail less so-acidic and thin. Cuisine was ambitious in design, but so so in execution.
Hello James. Our waitstaff was short one team member on the night you dined with us. Our third server had family emergency that we allowed him to tend to. The TWO gentlemen that handled the entire restaurant did an outstanding job considering. I see you did not enjoy our food OR ambiance? ...As we have always known, we are not for everybody.
The Consulate NEVER disappoints. The new Spain menu is absolutely delicious and Chef has once again proven she is a brilliant creative! The service is always stellar. Chris is best server in Atlanta and his recommendations are spot on and his pairings are exact and perfect! As always the Consulate exceeded my already high expectation and gave us another wonderful dining experience. It’s still my favorite restaurant in the City.
If...by any chance, we slip, please let us know. We are all trying hard everyday to be perfect and we look forward to your return! Thank YOU.
Food was outstanding. Server was extremely knowledgeable and made appropriate recommendations but not in a forceful way. Cocktails were excellent and creative. We will definitely be back.
We are glad you enjoyed!!!
Server, Mariah (sp?), was absolutely fantastic and other staff offered excellent service.
Robert, we are glad you enjoyed! We all - and Mariah, thank you!
Adored this place! What a gem! We were late for our reservation and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! The menu was incredible and our server could not have been more knowledgeable. To top it off the atmosphere is unique and comfortable!
We are glad you enjoyed your stay Heather! Thank you!
Cozy, fun atmosphere....lots of interesting books, drawings, etc. on the walls. Flavorful, creative dishes. Like the small plates. One of the best martinis I've ever had. Very friendly staff & the owner is very personable. Will definitely return.
We are thrilled you enjoyed Sally! The whole team is trying hard to be perfect! Thank you!
The Consulate is the most interesting restaurant in Atlanta. We love that a part of the menu changes every quarter. Each quarter the menu is changed to represent cuisine from another part of the world. Favorites are always left on the menu as well. The team at The Consulate does an excellent job. This is most definitely the best place in Atlanta for interesting cocktails. The Consulate is decorated with an International theme. I always feel like James Bond is about to walk into the restaurant while I am there. If you go once, you'll be back. Be sure to check out the "gun locker" when you're there.
We are grateful for diners like you that look for the details. And thank you for the support and visit...We look forward to your return!
What a cool place ! I took my husband there recently for his birthday. We enjoyed the selections from Spain. We thought the snapper was fabulous with the chermola sauce as well as the Thai okra. The shishito peppers will also a treat.l as were the potatoes bravas. We skipped dessert and savored our wine instead while we took in all of the cool decor and art. Highly recommend. The neat thing is the menu changes every 90 days with a new country to enjoy. However they keep some of the favorites from other countries on the menu for further enjoyment !
We are glad you enjoyed and look forward to your next visit!!! Turkey is next...starting July 1st!
My girlfriend and I ate here for an early dinner before a comedy show at The Fox Theatre. We ran a little late so I called to let them know. The host was really polite and said no problem.
We took an Uber and got dropped off at the Marta station because that’s where the address says it is. We couldn’t see the restaurant from the street or sidewalks so, I called again and they told me it’s directly behind the Marta station on the left. So that is good to know if you have never been.
We had a warm welcome and very sweet young man who was the host and seated us.
Our server was awesome and had tons of personality! Wish I remembered her name. She knew the menu very well! She then explained her favorite and most popular dishes. My girlfriend and I shared that we don’t drink alcohol after she started exposing the wine menu and cocktails. Her response was awesome and she smiled and said, “We could get the bar team to make you two some ‘mocktails’ if you like.” We said that would be great and she quickly brought us a refreshing fruity version of a Moscow mule.
We went with the oyster mushroom dish, the Ethiopian lamb tips, prosciutto crustinis, korean duck confit, and finally the bubble tea box for dessert. All of these dishes were to put it simple, outstanding! The ticket times on receiving our dishes was Quick. Everything is family or tapas style so it was cool we could try four or five dishes and be comfortably full for two people.
The food runners did a great job of bringing the dishes and saying the name of each dish as they sat it down on the table so we knew exactly what they were. Our water and s. Pellegrino glasses never went empty. Our empty plates were pre bussed almost immediately.
The ambiance and overall style of the restaurant is something we have never seen before. The half booth table we sat at was very comfortable. The artwork / instruments hanging on the walls were beautiful.
After ten years of working in the bar biz: a MUST bucket list!
Thank you for your feed back and for making us a part of your fun filled night!!!
Amazing as always
We are glad you enjoyed!
The menu theme was Spanish inspired. Honestly, the food was not great. Did not enjoy the texture/flavors of some of the dishes. The cod was dry. The empanadas were too doughy and not great flavor with the inside mixture. The olives were the best part. For the amount of money being charged for the food, I probably would not go back anytime soon. Service was good. My gin and tonic was good as well. this was my first time at this restaurant as well.
Perhaps Turkey will be more your liking. The Turkish menu starts July 1st!
Great food and great service in a casual, but elegant setting. Mariah was a great server, good recommendations and just made the meal a great experience!
We are glad you enjoyed!
Excellent surroundings, service & food. Will be back.
We are glad you enjoyed!
Consulate has great decor and a cool vibe. And it’s super close to home. So I REALLY wanted to like it. However... the service was slow and not good. Took almost 20 minutes just to get a drink delivered, food was dropped off and we had no cutlery and they didn’t bring clean plates for the main course. The food was just OK. Not bad, far from great. But the most frustrating experience was how the reacted over a drink I ordered and didn’t like. I asked to exchange it after 2-3 sips and was told it was “policy” that they don’t take anything back. I got the same response from the server, the host or manager AND the owner. The owner even told me they they have “the best mixologists in the city.” Which kind of implies there is something wrong with me that I didn’t like the drink. Seriously?? I have never heard of a restaurant with this “policy”. Normally the restaurant does everything they can to address and correct the problem and make sure you are happy by the time you leave. I could have overlooked the so-so food and the other issues and given this place another try. But I’m not willing to overlook this very non-customer friendly policy.
As I replied to this EXACT review you posted on Yelp. - the night you dined with us you say the food was great but were unhappy that you could not exchange your cocktail for a glass of wine. I stated that we "had the best mixologists in the city" meaning that that could adjust your drink to something you would enjoy. You said you wanted something sour and they could have easily done so. We cannot operate smoothly if we allow guests to order items just to taste and then request something else.
Food and drinks were very good. Service was slow.
We are glad you enjoyed Jesse! Yes, our team has been stretched to the max. We are currently hunting for new talent to join the team so that we can keep up with our demand. We look forward to your next visit!
Awesome food and spectacular space!! Great bar. A special place for a really special occasion!!
We are glad you enjoyed! We hope to serve you again!
We are glad you enjoyed Ken!
They closed early because we were the only ones there. But that’s ok.
We are glad you enjoyed! We close at 11 each night. The kitchen closes at 10:30 nightly. We have never closed prior to that, so I am perplexd! We look forward to your next visit!!!!
Wonderful experience! Took my wife for our 1 year anniversary. Loved the delicacy, drinks and interior design. There was a lot to love about this restaurant!
Michael, we are glad you made us a part of your special day! We are honored.
Fabulous for cocktails, happy hour or a glass of wine. Don't bother going for the food. Very disappointing.
Monica, we glad glad you enjoyed your cocktail. Sorry you did not enjoy your choices with dinner, as so many others have. We find out Friday, what is our focus after Spain, and perhaps that will be more to your liking.
Fist time experiencing The Consulate and it was AMAZING!!! The ambiance was remarkable!!! The food and service was outstanding!! One of the owners came over to insure our visit was going well!! The Consulate is on my top 3 of Atlanta list!!! We’ll be back soon!!!!
Tia, thank you truly for your feedback and visit! We all are trying quite hard to be perfect! Spain is here!
My husband and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary this past weekend. Looking for somewhere new laid back. We were a few minutes late for our reservation because we could not find the parking garage. I phone the restaurant twice that we were coming and that we were a few minutes late due to our inability to find the parking lot. We were told not to worry and that our table would be waiting for us. When we arrived, the hostess had a nasty attitude - which was shocking - as she scolded us about being 12 minutes late. I mentioned that I'd called and spoken with someone at the restaurant twice so she decided to "find" us a table. The restaurant is very nice and the vibe is amazing. A friend had recommended it and we actually loved the Zambian menu choices. Our server was helpful and nice, for the most part, but honestly he seemed annoyed by our constant questions about various menu items that we weren't familiar with. The highlight of the evening happened when the owner came out and said hello. He was friendly and even offered to take our photo for us.
Overall, I would recommend this place as we simply CHOSE to overlook the condescending attitudes of those few staff so that we could enjoy our experience. Maybe they both weren't having a great evening...who knows!? The restaurant provides a cool vibe, nice drinks and tasty dishes!
I am so glad you enjoyed overall. Please feel free to let me know of any missteps or verbage that is not welcoming so we can correct it on the spot. We will read this and all reviews during line up so we can be even better than we were yesterday! Thank you truly. I hope the picture I took did not have my thumb across it, I'm all thumbs!
Sad to see the Nambia menu come to an end but am looking forward to tasting the food from Spain.
We hope to see you soon! Spain is here and AMAZING, but we are keeping the Zambian Oxtails and N'hima on the menu!
Great food, vibe and experience
We are glad you enjoyed! Spain is here! ( April 1st- July 1st)
This was our second visit this month. Only negative is that our friends couldn’t see the sign for the restaurant from the street and they didn’t know where to park. Better exterior signage, please!
Also, the email link on the website doesn’t work also.
Excellent servers and fun menu!
We are glad you enjoyed Allegro! Yes, we can be hard to find the first go around. But honestly, we intended our signage to be on the discreet side. A tad speakeasy-ish. We will double check the link on the website. Spain is here and we hope you will travel with us!
Great location and ambiance. The food was good. Very good flavors. Service was great as well.
We are glad you enjoyed! Spain is coming! Hopefully you will try us TWICE ! ( April 1st- July 1st)
Food and service were very good. Particularly enjoyed the Zambian beef dish, Thai okra and Cuban egg role. Full of flavor and nice spice level
Steve, we are glad you enjoyed! Many Zambian dishes will be missed, but Chef Lin's versions of Spain is outstanding! We hope to see you then! ( April 1st- July 1st)
Great food, awesome service!
We are glad you enjoyed! Spain is coming! ( April 1st- July 1st)
Office happy hour
We are glad you enjoyed! We hope to see you during Spain! ( April 1st- July 1st)
