The Crab Spot - Johns Creek
Drove all the way there from Braselton to a completely closed building, even after making a reservation on Open Table!!
This establishment was not open for business which was very disappointing after driving for 50 minutes to get there
Made reservations. Arrived on time and location was closed!
If I could leave a negative star, I would. Although our waitress was nice, the food was less than mediocre. The crab legs and shrimps were well over cooked, and the seasoning was bland... I could still taste the ocean on my food. They still advertised an all you can eat special that had been expired for months. Horrible restaurant with horrible cooks and poor management.
Great spot to take a date.✅
Sat for hour to place our order but never got taken
Absolutely terrible service. It seems as if they are constantly understaffed. The food was good, but for the price and service we received it was awfully overpriced. Will not be back just solely off the service we did NOT receive.
The music was way too loud!!! You couldn't hear the person next to you much less the waiter. The food order was wrong. I had hair wrapped up in my linen napkin. The waiter was waiting on too many tables at once so getting anything from him took a long time. The food was dropped off at the table with out any cocktail sauce, tarter saice, or ketchup. It took a long time to get some condiments from the waiter to start eating. The bus boy was walking around with ear buds in, couldnt here you ask him for help, and he couldnt bring you anything with out asking the waiter who was too busy also. I asked for a plate and was told to use the basket the food was served in. I am from Louisiana and was excited to try a restaurant who advertised New Orleans cuisine and eat seafood. But it was like eating in a bar with too loud of music playing. The band and DJ whad the music cranked up too loud for the small space. I was very dissappointed.
My husband and I had reserved a table for 6:30 we didn’t get our food until after 7:30! Yes we waited a hour and no waitress came to our table . Finally we stopped a young man name Arthur and he took our order, he did apologize for us having to wait so long. He was really nice and we weren’t his table but he took care of us. Now I ordered the snow crab leg bag and my husband the red fish. My husband said his food was good but mine wasn’t. The crab legs weren’t fresh they had a very nasty after tases. The manager name Mike came out and replaced my food and our drinks. The food I received the second time was a lot better still not great. But I can’t say enough good things about the manager and Arthur they made what was about to become a bad night a very pleasant one. We also had the crab bites, now they were really really fresh and delicious. The band came later in the evening playing good music and I enjoyed them a lot. The selection of songs was right on point because there was a mixed crowd and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. So at the end of it all we had a really nice experience at the Crab Spot and I would recommend going on a Saturday evening when there’s live music. The drinks were good but I wouldn’t recommend you ordering the snow crab legs if you know good seafood. The manager Mr. Mike went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. I will be returning for the crab cake bites and drinks and entertainment .
The music was too loud for a 6 pm dinner. We had two people serve us, the gentleman who seated us and a lady, the guys was super friendly and the lady must have been having a bad day. Overall the food made up for it.
I was really surprised and disappointed. We have come here many times since this restaurant opened. In the past the atmosphere was vibrant, music was great, and the food was delicious. Yesterday there were two people, a man that didn’t know much, and a woman running the entire restaurant. They would disappear from the floor for long periods of time which made it seem like that were needed to help in the kitchen. Finally the man with the dreds in a ponytail arrived but it didn’t help. The crab legs were AMAZING but the Whiting was gross. The batter is now thick and crunch.y. It use to be a lighter batter. My husband had the Whiting and Shrimp and he was up all night with an upset stomach. It was the only meal he ate yesterday so we know that is why he was not feeling well. It appears that either they are going out of business or they have all of their staff working at their new restaurant. Either way it is sad to see because we really use to like this restaurant. It use to be one of the few places in North Fulton to serve good seafood.
This restaurant is supposed to be a crab place, but they ran out of king crab because it was the end of the month!
I believe this place can be a great place to come relax and have fun. They just have major staff issues. The food is excellent and the DJ and live band keeps me coming back with friends.
The waiter was terrible, the staff needs to be trained properly. The entertainment & food was Outstanding. I would definitely visit again, but I will Not tolerate terrible service!
Great food, great DJ and server Daysha was excellent.
The place was empty, the food was horrible. I ordered a side noticed that I didn't receive it and when I inquired my server said oh they didn't tell me we ran out. Interesting since the place was empty. I do not recommend this place.
Was a nice spot with GREAT Food and service. JOY is a great waitress with great service!!
We went around 630pm on Father's Day. They were out of blue crabs, out of corn and potatoes. We ordered sweet tea, they were out of that. I ordered the shrimp and grits, they sent out grits that were in 3 big chunks. I was told they only had one cook and server prepared my meal. I sent my meal back and nibbled off of my childs chicken tenders. Gratuity was included in the bill which is probably why no one cared to provide great service or food.
It was supposed to be a Fathers Day dinner with my family visiting from NY. We were on time for our reservation and waited at our table for an hour before the server informed us that they had several call outs and only one cook on a very busy day. We ended up leaving and going to the “ Fat Crab” up the block. I will never set foot in the Crab Spot ever again. Horrible Service!
The food was great and hot! The decor was dated but flowed with the theme of the establishment. The service was sub par as it took over an hour to get appetizers. The live music was good but because of the long wait times to be seated and order taken, the music went unheard for the most part. It could have been just a bad night, but first impression is everything. I may revisit in the future.
Wonderful food and dj. I reserve the table for my coworkers and I for a farewell party.
Choosing this restaurant was a BIG mistake. The music was painfully loud that we even took half our food to finish at home. Hubby & I had stuffed lobster & everything was cold. The others in our party were not pleased with their meals either. Food is flavorless, service was nonexistent and she didn’t ask once how was it or if we needed anything. They also tack on an 18% gratuity for a party of 4. I guess since they know this they figure they don’t actually have to provide service. Food is also way overpriced.
So let me start by saying worst restaurant experience I have ever had! As a previous waiter of 6 yrs I am always patient and understanding. However this place simply sucked! I originally came for lobster Mac and cheese but decided I wanted to order Oysters as well. I was informed that they no longer had any and had not had any in awhile. So I just ordered the Mac and cheese and my spouse order the Mardi Gras pasta. Both dishes were disgusting and I am almost positive they used the same sauce on both. I tried adding salt and it could not be fixed. I thought maybe it was me until the woman next to us complained about the same thing for the pasta and a woman across complained about the Mac. To top it off they were out of certain drinks on the menu, out of dessert and it was 8:15 on a Friday night. It was not packed and people were complaining around us left and right! I saw a comment on here from a man who sat next to us who was served the wrong fish and when the manager finally came over he was yelling at the customers as he was a woman and her husband when we entered the establishment! All the signs were there not to sit down and not to order and we ignored them so I’m saving you the time. Do not eat here!
Really enjoyed the snow crab. I had the boil with the "jazz it up" seasoning and it was tasty.
Our server was good, we had one mistake from the bar which she corrected quickly and without incident. She was friendly but did nor hover, etc I we appreciate.
Only complaint is that there are TVs in the dining area. This is a personal turn off for me as they can be distracting.
The food is excellent! Service was very slow.
From beginning to end was AWFUL!!! Showed up to confusion and an awkward reception, with a reservation! Took over an hour for appetizers to come!! Another hour plus for entrees and we ordered entrees and apps together. One member of our party was served bad oysters, that smelled horrid. Two members of our party were sick for 2 days. I called the restaurant to talk to them the following day and have yet to hear back!!!! OVERPRICED, DIRTY, STAY AWAY!!!!
We were so disappointed. Went early (5:30), waited 10-15 minutes for drinks order to be taken, then had to ask again for the beer (felt lucky when we could even see our waiter on the floor). Manager finally took our order at about 25 minutes. At about 50-55 minutes, told manager that we were getting ready to leave if we couldn’t have our food. About 10 minutes later, our waitress brought it out, but forgot the coleslaw. To add insult to injury, seafood was so - so. Oh, and the floor was sticky.
Was seated by an indifferent host, sat for 15 minutes next to a table that was full of the previous groups uneaten food and garbage. Used Open Table app to make reservation next door at Ari Korean. When the waiter finally came by after 20 minutes i showed her the greatness of Open Table and left with my party of four and spent my $250 with a restaurant that appreciates customers. Overall the Crab Spot cant last with this service.
We came early to beat the Mothers Day crowd and still waited an hour for 1 appetizer for party of 2. Place was nearly empty, only 3 tables of customers. Their staff came late one by one after they opened at 11am. This is during one of the biggest weekends - Mothers Day but the place was ill prepared. Why not just open later in the evening. It's a shame coz the food was good but poor service.
First time at the Crab Spot and had a great experience. The food was served promptly and the service from our server Janae was excellent. She was very friendly and responsive to our needs. Great music headlined from a really good vocalist. The band backing her up was good as well.
It saddens me to write this review but I must. Fair is fair. I've been to The Crab Spot SEVERAL times, for dining in and take out. This visit was the worst. The service was slow, the orders were not complete or correct, and there was no DJ or live music. The most disheartening is, when asked by the manager/cook,/owner (not sure which because he seems to wear several hats), what (alcoholic) drink do I want, I responding by asking if he had a non-alcoholic (virgin) drink. He said no so I asked for water. No big deal right? Wrong. He went on pressing me about having JUST ONE drink. Finally my mother had to step in and say "she CAN'T " have a drink.... No thank you should have been enough the FIRST time. Also. We were there (6pm reservation) to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday and was disappointed that there was no DJ or band as advertised on the website and on social media. Needless to say, I won't be back.
Bizarre vibe - food OK - don’t think I’ll be back - just a really strange set-up, dark, and I suppose it’s supposed to be like eating under the water.
Live and and singer was really good.
Went on All-you-can-eat crab night; and we really enjoyed the Dj, along with the music trivia. Just didn’t like the small crab legs and the fact they came in a bag. Server would only bring two clusters at a time and again they were small. The fried shrimp was banging via taste, size and portions! Our server we were handed off to was the ultimate professional.
Food is great, but the service needs improvement. Entertainment is refreshing.
Excellent service, great atmosphere, food and drinks. The live band was a nice added touch. We celebrated a birthday party for two friends. We will be back. Thank you.
If you like it spicy, this is the place for you. I got my crab legs mild and they were still so spicy my lips were burning. My husband got the grouper and shrimp. It was really good. Large portions of food. Left before the band started, so I am not sure how loud it gets.
We went on a Friday night and there was a live band and DJ. The food was very good. We opted not to get one of the New Orleans Boils which seems to be very popular, many othet tables indulged. We ate the calamari which was very good and I had the grouper shrimp plate baked. The potatoes were a great add as a side dish. They were just potatoes but we couldn't get enough of them. People were dancing, drinking and eating it was really a good time. The drinks were great I had their version of a Moscow Mule and it was just right. I would definitely go back.
I would give it a 3.5 star overall. I loved the group Soulfood performance and the food tasted good. It was a pleasant experience.
I was there for my Honey's birthday. The band and the female performer was AWESOME.. Would definitely go back and recommend this place on a Friday night. The food was ok and value was definitely not work it. I believe this place should go up in the portion size for the amount you pay for your food. Also, most definitely have to pay attention to your receipt because you will double up on tip was it's already included on your receipt. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and ambiance.. I loved the entertainment!!!!!!!!!!
Food is always good. Servers nice. I went for the first time when the live band, Soul Food, was playing. The band was great, people danced a some. Great time!
