The Diamond has been one of my long time favourite places for drinks. Their old food menu had sushi and other crowd pleasing options, but now they have changed their whole menu to have fewer options and no sushi. Our table sent back 3 plates because the taste was unbarable. It’s a shame they don’t have better food options as it really is a great spot in gastown.

Simply amazing heritage room, great cocktails and innovative small plates.

My experience at the diamond was a good one, having shown up on time for the reservation I requested, I was promptly seated by the window, that of which had a great view of the gastown lantern lit square , beautiful people were hosting as well as frequenting . The food seemed reasonably priced, though I had none. I tried a mixed cocktail, a creation from the bar that was different and complex in its flavor profile , though not overly presumptuous or layered . The host / general manager was a pleasure to speak with briefly and a vision to behold; as were all the staff I were fortunate enough to engage with. My friend was unable to come though I was accommodated as though this wasn't the slightest inconvenience. I thoroughly enjoyed myself in these intimate settings, and highly suggest a visit to "the diamond" if you've ever had the curiosity to know what it feels like to be guest somewhere as comfortable in comparison to the inner sanctum of your own home while still maintaining the allure and ambiance of glow of candle light.

Cheers

Had a good time overall. Enjoyed the food. Service was ok, could’ve been more friendly vs “functional”. Two of us had cocktails that tasted very strong (intense flavours), but not so tasty.

Creative cocktails, tasty but not silly. Diverse tapas that are reasonably priced & good for sharing. Service was a bit hit and miss, but friendly when it happened. Entertaining view over Powell/Abbot St.

We loved sitting by those big, open warehouse windows with the summer breeze rolling in, watching night fall on Gas Town. The cocktails were creative and delicious. We are still talking about the duck pate tapas. The Diamond looks a little rough from street level, but you'll find a gem at the top of the stairs.

Great spot, busy place, (Fri night). Had cocktails and a bunch of appies. Very good service and wonderful view with the window table. A little pricey, but then so are a lot of places in Vancouver. I'd recommend it.

Good food and service, but the noise level makes it very hard to carry on a conversation.

I was told that the Diamond had expanding to a back room which was nice and they had a new menu worth trying. I took my wife there with some friends for her birthday. There was disappointment around the table.

The short rib dish was fairly small portion and unexciting and the chocolate cake can only be described as mush.

We very much enjoyed our dinner, the service and the ambiance. Cocktail specials were great value. As vegetarians, there were a few options we could choose from but it would be great to have a few more.

Fantastic cocktail choices and a great decor. Food is so-so but the excellent drinks and the great views make up for it.

A pretentious, overpriced dump. Despite having made reservations and the place being empty on our arrival, we had to fight tooth and ail to get a window. While tasty, portions are ridiculously overpriced for the portion size, the pates arrived at different times, so half the table is eating or finished when yours arrives, the plates are being pulled out from under you while you're still finishing, and the music s so loud you can't hear yourself think. A terrible experience.

The Diamond has a great range of unique cocktails, and a delicious menu. It would be even better if the dinner portions were bigger, but you can share different plates and try a few.

Average food but great service and ambiance. More a cocktail lounge with munchies than a restaurant that serves drinks.

The food options were a little too out there so we settled on the bread and olive oil and we received six tiny slices of bread, if was hardly enough for one person. The drink list was better but nothing really caught my eye. The service was good and the environment was nice but I will not be coming back.

We had a great evening but we had to carry my mother in a wheelchair up 2 flights of stairs. I’m not sure if it makes it clear on website that it is not wheelchair accessible....? But everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

We celebrated a birthday here. It was a wet windy west coast evening but, we were warm and cozy inside. The building itself is very beautiful and the ambience in the restaurant was very nice. Good lighting, beautiful view, good food and great cocktails!

The Diamond is a really loud bar/pub setting with a few items to snack on. I was shocked to see the menu mostly Sushi items, mediocre sushi. Nothing resembled tapas at all. Drink menu was good, music they played was good although all one had to shout to be heard less than a foot away.

I was not impressed that I was charged for the slice birthday cake. I've never had that in any restaurant before.

The hostess was quite rude and on a power trip when we arrived a little late (I tried calling to let them know ... but they don't have a phone number). Turns out our table was still available so there was no need for the cattiness. However by the time we sat down and were being served by a waitress - she was great.

Come for ambiance and great people watching. However, be ready to say good bye to a large chunk of change because drinks and plates are over priced for quality and quantity ($10 for a beer and a shot of gin!?)

Great food at a reasonable price! We were a couple from out of town going on a date, the place had a great view of the busy streets and the waitress was very friendly. We shared a chacuitarie board and some sushi rolls and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend if you're new to the area.

Gorgeous turn of the century place, without air conditioning, was unpleasantly warm. This is a bar, forget about eating anything substantial here, great bar though.

The cocktails were a bit of a disappointment as they were not very well balanced, and the server was a bit all over the place. She would disappear before someone else at the table had the opportunity to order another drink. The food was mediocre at best, I ordered a few pieces of sushi, which were very expensive given the quality of the unevenly cut and mostly flavourless fish. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I liked.

Enjoyed the food and the cocktails are amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable and could recommend a drink to suit any taste, if you ask they will even make drinks not on the menu. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Vancouver!
