    Enjoy an elevated evening in our upper dining room. The Chef's Tasting Menu is a perfect celebratory way to welcome 2024. Menu details can be found on our website. Full table participation is required. Optional drink pairings available. Please allow 2.5 hours for this experience. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will be subject to a $40 per person cancellation fee. Please note - our Dumpling Drop Ball Drop party with a live DJ begins at 10pm on the main floor, therefore, noise levels will be high.

    The Chef's Tasting Menu was amazing! I was having images of "M stars" dancing in my head as every course (there were 9 counting the goodies at the end) had something unique and surprising and of course delicious!! It was a treat that I can't imagine repeating very often, though!

    You'll pay top dollar for high quality food, you will also get very small quantities i.e 8lbs steak but pay for the price of 12-14lbs. If that's okay for you. You'll love it.

    We had multiple service staff so the person who took our order was not the same person who delivered our food. Our food was not prepared as ordered, so there was a disconnect. When our waiter come back and questioned "the first couple of bites” we’d sent one meal back, which left the other in our party eating alone. I had the chicken dish, and it may well have been chicken fingers as it was crunchy and dry, not much in the way of flavour. It was not well described on the menu as between what I’d thought I’d ordered and what come on the plate were very different. Restaurant was also very noisy due to some very large parties that were sitting a level down from us. Not what we’d planned for on a Friday night out.

    Food was excellent, as well as the seri e by Johnny. I had a $28 gray goose martini - it was the worst I’ve ever tasted (awful). Need to carry a Heineken beer or Italian Peroni beer. Not everyone has a boutique beer palate. Thank you

    We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu again, which was excellent. Colin, the sommelier, picked wine (and cider!) that added lots of value to the meal (despite the seemingly high price for the wine pairing). Johnny was, again, the consummate server. Meeting and talking with Chef Brian was notable and fun. We’ll be back whenever we’re up here from Seattle.

    Food was wonderful and service very attentive. A lot of local products. Sides and salads definitely big enough for 2 to share. Was a little noisy. And food was so fancy it really deserved tablecloths. They were so sweet about our anniversary; wrote us a card and give us mini-bubbles to toast with.

    Oh Wow, did we have a good meal. We went with the chef tasting menu and was not surprised. All the courses were awesome and very full by end. What I enjoyed was each course used a unique ingredient/herb/berry. It wasn't just a meal, but an exploration of taste.

    A nice varied lunch menu in a beautiful room with excellent service. What more are you looking for? Oh yeah, they have a lovely wine list too. I especially appreciate the option of 3 0z pours.

    We were a party of 6, intended to have a long visit over dinner. The service was excellent, attentive and proactive. The servings were generous, I would suggest that the appetizer salad was a very healthy serving for two and probably could have been for three. The sides that come as part of the a la carte portion of the meal are also large and could be shared between 2-3 people comfortably. So for our large table having 3-4 side dishes with the mains was more than enough. The Sommelier did a great job of reading the table after the initial suggestion was a bit high on price for our group they recovered smoothly with more price-conscious options for us without any awkwardness. One of our party was 100 yrs old and our server was very accommodating and played along with some of the banter. Thank you!

    We had a 7:45 seating and we arrived on time and we were sat at our table promptly. We then waited 18 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and take our drink order. This is unacceptable. We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu and although we expected different foods it was a disappointing to see the same topping (smoked trout roe) on 4 different dishes. The kingfish and duck were delicious, the venison was not. All I could taste was peppercorn. Very disappointing. The dessert was delicious aside from the bottom which was a cake like texture with strong citrus flavour. This did not compliment the top layers at all.

    We had some of the smaller main courses including the chickpeas fritters and the amazing winter squash, both of which were wonderful. And our sommelier really knew his wines and recommended wonderful pairings with our food. It's a little pricey but wonderful flavours and a repeat-worthy experience. Plus we had the best waiter ever, a total gem of a person. Definitely a great experience.

    It was my husband’s and my wedding anniversary the night we booked the Courtney Room. There was an anniversary card waiting for us at our table and we were offered a celebratory glass of champagne for each of us. The server was very attentive and described the various dishes and was very helpful in assisting us with our choices. It was a great experience even with the very robust group sitting behind us.

    Almost everything was wonderful for a very special evening. The ambiance, the server, the beautiful food and excellent selection. My only concern is the attitude of the hostess. Once you get past her the experience will be wonderful. Highly recommend the Courtney Room.

    We love the Courtney Room. Wonderful atmosphere with casually elegant ambiance. Staff are incredibly attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. The food is always delicious. This is becoming our favorite restaurant to visit.

    I had no visited the Courtney room since before Covid 19. I was excited to bring my friends for brunch at Courtney Room, expecting an exceptional experience. We both live in Victoria, but were disappointed with the quality of food presented. The greens we cumbersome in the tiny bowl, we had to use or knives to make bite sized. The eggs were cold, bacon overcooked, ….. Truly a negative experience I never imagined!

    Food was good but service was terrible from the beginning. It took 20 min just to take our drink order then another 20 for our drinks. We ordered our food and the waitress forgot to put in some of our items so we had to wait again and by the time they came we were done our mains. It was a disaster. Management needs to look at hiring more staff as we weren't the only table waiting for long periods.

    We stayed at The Magnolia Hotel & Spa where The Courtney Room is located. We made reservations in advance as we knew it was small and new, but seemed to get fairly busy. We were greeted warmly and taken to a table similar to what we requested in our initial reservation. Our server was amazing. She was attentive and knew a lot about the menu. She answered all of my questions (I am a picky eater) and was very informative with her recommendations. Service alone was great. The food was also amazing - there wasn't a dish we didn't like. We tried the small house salad (that wasn't on the menu), the filet, Courtney potatoes (which were to die for) and the roasted carrots. We passed on dessert but where give a few small sweet treats to take with us. It was a nice touch. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we definitely would eat here again!

    The Chef’s Tasting Menu was excellent. Much of it would not have been out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Creative and delicious, innovative and surprising in places without being over the top. The wine pairings were very carefully selected and all but one was a great match to the dish. And they offered to split a single pairing for us, which was exactly what we wanted. Service was very attentive.

    Had to call a server to order our food. Waited for 12 minutes. No one came to acknowledge that servers are busy and they will attend to us shortly. Quite disappointing for a 5 star hotel with restaurant
