Inspired by the British coastline and countryside, Executive Chef Ryan Lister is excited to bring a taste of his culinary roots to downtown Toronto. Within The Dorset’s charming and airy interior, guests are warmly invited to wet their whistles (and their appetites) at the main floor bar; or settle in upstairs for an elevated à la carte or Chef’s tasting menu experience.     I’d try their tasting menu and it’s good together with the wine pairing. The sommelier really choose a good wine to pair with the food. Really enjoy it.

    Nice spot - servers were lovely, however, food was subpar. The burger was not as described at all - it seemed basically like a frozen patty with tomato onion and lettuce. Not at all what was on the menu. And for $26 felt it was a sad offering.

    Was very excited to have my anniversary dinner at The Dorset after finding it on Google. My partner is from the U.K, so we were very excited to be able to get an authentic English flavors in Toronto in a cozy space. And then we arrived... We were greeted rather coldly, though it was late in the evening so we made nothing of it. I told the host that we had a reservation and were led to our table. I had requested a table in the cozy dining room, but we were brought to a table near the bar. We did not know better at the time, but I was quite displeased when I walked to the toilet later in the evening to find a pristine and empty dining room which I would have loved to sit in. I understand after the fact that that area may have been a private dining room and the Cozy Dining Room is for the tasting menu, but none of this was clear at booking. The decor somewhat lacking. each table itself felt like it was it's own scene out of a movie, however everything in-between felt like the backstage, cold, efficient and a little all over the place. The food however was our biggest gripe. We started our meal off with the Duck Scotch Egg, which was fantastic, perfectly done. Our mains were a drop off. My partner ordered Fish + Chips, and I the Beef Roast. The fish on their plate did not taste well, it was fishy and the texture was off; it flaked, but rather than crumble each piece almost popped in your mouth. My roast came to me to cold, while I understand it was rare, and was quite tender and seasoned well, had no warmth to it at the top and barely any more in the under pieces. The gravy accompanying my meal was also cold. Thankfully the veg was warm at the bottom of the plate, but unfortunately that could not save the dish. We gave dessert a try and were underwhelmed, simply; perhaps some things should stay traditional. Front of House Staff at all times were lovely and we enjoyed their service. All in all, quite disappointed with our experience.

    First time visiting The Dorset. The food was the delicious. The only thing was that we ordered our drinks first before our apps. The apps arrived first and our drinks way after. We reminded one of the servers and our drinks finally came. We didn’t get an apology for delay when the restaurant wasn’t busy. Overall we were really happy with the food and drinks, every thing was delicious and a great value too. The delay on our drinks didn’t ruin our experience overall and I would recommend everyone to try the restaurant.

    One of a kind spot! Incredible food, some of the best service we've had, and a beautiful location. Have gone back a few times already!

    Went on a Saturday night for a date, a bit quiet and empty. The pictures along the stairs going up are awesome. Nice newly built restaurant. New furniture. Staff was friendly. The sommelier picked an excellent wine for us. Unfortunately he did spill some on the table and did not clean it properly, I kept thinking about that all night because of my sticky glass and a few red wine stains on my napkin and table. The wild halibut was awesome, a real culinary experience. The burger was suggested by staff but quite basic taste imo. The side salad had next to no dressing, I asked for more and it was excellent. Fish and chips were decent, but nothing special. I would have loved to see a beef Wellington on the menu.

    Second visit to Dorset. Service and food even better than the last time. We enjoyed the coastal oysters, lamb sirloin and cottage pie with a corn risotto to share...sticky toffee pudding was perfect decadent finale! Dillon provided us with exceptional service. Knowledgeable, attentive and charming. Bravo!
