    Food was okay, but the service was horrible. I had the Eggs Benedict and it wasn't bad, but the poached eggs were already hard. Not runny at all, so that was disappointing. Food and coffee were cold too. As for the service... we were there for brunch on a pretty quiet morning and had to flag down the server to put our order in. They never came back so we had to flag the server down again to order our drinks. The same server had gone to the wrong table with our food, so it was already cold when it arrived at our table. Would you believe we even had to flag the server down to bring us cutlery!? To top it all off, I had stepped out for a moment, and they had taken away my coffee while the cup was still full (without even asking if I was done with it). The only time the server came back to us was to clear our table. I have to say, we definitely felt rushed out despite there only being a few other diners there. Hopefully it was a one-off, but we likely won't be going back.

    I heard they served a good Eggs Benedict. It was just OK and I wouldn't order it again. The poached eggs were hard and you can were made in advance. The ham was greasy and a tiny dollop of hollandaise was laid on top. Very men.

    Decent service. A bit chilly inside. Average food. Had to cut nachos with knife and fork…one big blob…weird. Slouvaki was dry fries small pieces not sure what kind if tzatziki guy we used but more like a sweet white condiment. Choose this place bec all the others around were too expensive.

    Our welcome was friendly and professional. The service was excellent and our drinks and mains were delivered promptly. We were able to enjoy lunch and our conversation without loud music or other interruptions. A very pleasant experience.

    It was very very nosy and not all that busy. My hamburger was so thin with no condiments. It was tough. The beer was good but I wouldn’t go back. The wait staff was pleasant.

    The Fortunate fox had good recommendation and good ratings, however the food was very poor, fish sandwich tasteless and poor quality. The burgers were average and both meals were served with 2/3 of the plate filled with fries which were of the frozen type, not real fries. Our server was good, pretty atentive and we had a deadline, so no point in having another plate of the same poor quality food if we had complained. To make matters worse the Heineken beer was flat.

    We ordered the tacos. They were tasty, but cold, and the steak was tough :( We ordered nonalcoholic beer and halfway through consuming the second one realized we were served alcoholic beer ……. It wasn’t a big deal, but could have been for someone who is not able to drink alcohol Our server was lovely though!

    Asked what the soup of the day was (as shown on the menu.) They didn’t have soup that day. Ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from the menu, they were all out. I was told they only had Chardonnay left (they were also out of Pinot Grigio) which was the most expensive white wine on the menu at $24 for nine ounces. They offer three white wines on their menu, but actually had one available. And, I found out after I had already ordered my meal. While our server was very nice, he should have spoken to the manager when he knew I was disappointed about the missing menu items. Had I known I couldn’t get what I wanted, I would’ve gone somewhere else in the neighbourhood for dinner. The food was ok. Great fries, fresh salad. The fish was over-cooked. Burger was good. It has gotten very expensive to enjoy a meal out, so it’s really disheartening when a restaurant is missing multiple items from their menu and nothing is offered to make up for it. I will not return to The Fortunate Fox, even if I stay at The Klimpton again.

    Food was late calls and terrible. They seem to be suffering extreme trouble in the kitchen. My hamburger was overdone and completely cold, as well as my friends vegetarian lasagna. My friend who ordered fajitas did not receive his order until 10 minutes after everyone else it was a true disappointment, so I’m not sure the restaurants fault staffing was an issue.

    The food is great so I will highly recommend for that. I am not sure what is up with the service part. On several occasions I waited 20-25 min before anyone came to take my order & I wasn’t even offered water. I had to go up to computer station to ask to put my order in. It was not that busy. Then no cutlery, but tables with no guests had cutlery. Recent visit, given a carafe of water & no glass… 15 min go by and got up and got my own glass. This should not need to happen.

    Excellent meal. Few notes - asked for salad instead of fries and was served fries, waiter did bring a side salad to correct. Bottle of wine brought to our table but not opened. We could not open the bottle of wine and needed to find the waiter to open the bottle. Wine should have been opened for us right away. When though it was a screw top, it should have been opened. Would definitely go back though - loved the food and menu choices.

    Dining rooms/bars are many along Bloor Street, and my impression was that our group would have like a couple of healthier options on the menu. Also, for what we had, we felt the price was a little too much. On the plus side, the fries were excellent!

    At a time when restaurants are supposed to be struggling, this place did nothing to make me want to come back. There were six of us and we asked for separate bills because none of us had cash. Who carries cash these days? The manager said no, but would consider it if the place wasn't busy when we wanted to pay. The rationale was that if it's busy the server doesn't have time to do separate bills. Before we placed our orders we considered leaving and going to the Duke of York which had no problem splitting the bill six ways. Clearly not all restaurants don't split the bills for six or more people. When it came time to pay, the restaurant was half full, the server chatty with other customers and ONLY ONE BILL. It was poor customer service and sadly we were forced to pay 18%. Why is such a gratuity mandatory when service was horrible from the get go? The restaurant lost six customers.

    About my experience in Toronto and at The Fortunate FOX. I teach hospitality management for 20y already, this was also my first time in Canada. So I was curious about what I was going to find out. I arrived late and was greeted by a young gentleman wearing an open vest and immediately I sensed the tone of the place, fun and relaxed. The entire roster was surprisingly young, I don't recall being in restaurant where everyone is on their 20s. The place was quite busy, but the service was attentive and professional at all times. During my career, I was always able to differentiate a fake smile, from a real one, here they were genuine, and not just towards me. My drinks were great, although different from what I'm used to. If you go there, please try their sausage board. It is a must. It was a Saturday night and I was expecting the place to be loud, they had a DJ on one side and a group of 25 people on the other, so it was loud, but not uncomfortable. I felt embraced by the fox, the place is comfortable and definitely showed me a different culture from what I'm used to. If all the restaurants in Toronto are like this, I'm sure I'll have the best time.

    Menu a little pricey. Although I liked the half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays. Karaoke too loud. We couldn't hear each other speak. Service was good. Food was good.

    I booked a reservation for 11:15 PM and got to the Fortunate Fox for 11:20 PM. When we got to the bar they were already closing up (I imagine due to the poor weather there weren't many people on the streets out and about). We were expecting to eat and have some drinks as we'd made a reservation. They were kind enough to at least let us look for another restaurant in the area indoors, the Bartender kindly offered us both a drink on the house. The cocktails were delicious, I can't speak for the food as we couldn't order any. The staff were pleasant.

    The resto showed real promise when we arrived. Nice atmosphere. Pleasant servers. In the end the food was over cooked and repeated mistakes were made with drink orders. They need to tighten things up.
