The Mac and cheese I had was AMAZING! However not much else appealed to me on the menu. I also think having a smaller, appetizer size of the Mac and cheese would be a great idea since it is too large to enjoy with anything else and eating that much cheese and pasta did not make me feel great after. Also it was quite loud in there. I’m not sure how you could fix that but it was a struggle to have a conversation with the person sitting right in front of me.
All the wait staff were very pleasant and prompt
Lunch hour being an hour
A bit tight a squeeze at the 2 seater tables
Food was scrumptious and overflowing
It would get a high recommendation from me
Best burger in the city
Fantastic food, terrific service. This was an excellent restaurant. We really enjoyed everything. Do yourself a favour and make a reservation.
Loved the menu and the food, but it was noisy for our business meeting over lunch,
Food was outstanding. Burger and fish pie were beyond satisfying. Highly recommend this place for its food and service. Just be prepared to talk loud since it is small and popular.
Really, better than the sum of its parts. A house made tonic in the G&T, an attentive and friendly staff, nicely presented plates. None of it blew me away, but I look forward to going back.
Great food, reasonably priced. Always a good option for lunch
Food was delicious, but service was sub-par. Our friends ordered a half litre of red wine and it was served to them warm, bordering on hot. I’ve had coffee the same temperature! When they told the server, they were only offered a bucket to chill it. It seemed like an odd solution for this. Time lagged between sitting and when we were offered menus and a drink. It did seem like they were understaffed but still. And a smile goes a long way! But the food is really tasty.
An absolute gem of a find! It's a quaint and cozy place with an eclectic mix of guests with everyone from couples, girls night out, business men, and locals. Service is always top notch and the staff are very knowledgable on the menu. Our favorite comfort food is the fish tacos, chicken pot pie, or the must try. . Mac and cheese dish with or without large cubes of ham on top. If you're in Toronto on Bay Street or near Nathan Phillips Square then... You gotta eat here!
Food is amazing, but service was extremely slow this time we went. We were talking for over an hour and no one ever came to give us the bill.
Good comfort food. Large portion sizes
The food was great aa usual. Appetizers were a hit, as we all fought over the devil eggs and the cauliflower. Love the diner feel and the bottomless homemade pot pie - OMG! A hidden gem and a must eat.
Had to wait a very long time despite having a reservation, and numerous guests were seated before us. Food service was slow and quality was not very good. Overall very poor experience.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, very relaxing. The service was very good. I chose the hamburger which was excellent. Portions are large. Would recommend this restaurant to my friends and will certainly be back.
Sadly we found it to be very over priced for the quality of food. Service was very friendly.
Great to know it will be wonderful every time and nice to have that confidence when recommending. *Bring back the avocado on sour dough!!
Server forgot about us (we assume?) and the couple who was seated next to us (who arrived after us) finished their mains before our food was even brought. They had appetizers brought to their table before our drink orders were taken. We were seated at the table an elbow’s length away from them and we had the same server. Otherwise I love the Gaberdine. Been several times. Probably just a fluke service-fail on that occasion.
Busy Friday night! Sandwiches and burgers are awesome; great fries too. Service was kind of slow. Cozy venue, definitely recommend reservations!
Great food with huge portions! Wonderful service, fro and warm.
Great restaurant. Understandably busy. Chicken pot pie is my favourite!
Amazing service and really good food. Happily accommodated my friends request to change her meal to be gluten free with no added cost.
Food was great, server was attentive without being overbearing...very busy at lunch, however space was quite cramped due to the size of the establishment...
Great spot for a semi-casual business lunch. Food was great and portions were large, we had two delicious soups and shared a sandwich and were both stuffed. The staff kindly split the sandwich And side salad onto two plates for us and gave us separate bills. Without alcohol the bill was under $25 each. Great spot. Tables were a little close together but the noise level was low. Not a very big restaurant, but nice decor and cozy.
The ombience was excellent, it is an eclectic place with fabulous food.
Overall food was great. It was quite noisy inside though
Everything that we ordered from the cocktails to the entrees was delicious. The ambiance was superb. The fried cauliflower appetizer was SUPER GOOD. I personally really enjoyed their gin & tonic too, I believe they make their own tonic infused with juniper. Overall I would recommend to anyone in the area.
I was meeting a friend to celebrate a new hob. Our waiter was less than enthusiastic and indeed appeared to quite sick with a head cold which was really off putting as she was handling our food. I had gone to try to mac and cheese but just couldn't bring myself to pay $22 for 50 cents worth of mac and $5 worth of cheese. I had the fish tacos and they were disappointing. In general the prices are too high and the quality does not match. Will not be back
Great spot for comfort food. Best bakes Mac ‘n Cheese I’ve ever had!
We loved our food but the single most important thing that would stop me from returning to your restaurant and why I would not recommend to a friend is the exceedingly poor ventilation. Our eyes burned during the entire luncheon and when we returned to our office, everyone complained that we stank of deep fryer oil. Not pleasant. Couldn't wait to get home, take my clothes off and wash my hair.
Not exaggerating. Your customers deserve better.
The service was very poor. Staff was generally rude and non-attentive. Food was mediocre. Would not recommend .
Very centrally locates for a nice downtown resto. Good variety on the menu and a willingness to substitute where food issues prevail.
In town for a conference. I had the bubbly fish bake. My colleague had the chicken pot pie. Both entrees were excellent. Check it out!
lunch is almost always extremely busy so you need to ensure you come early before the rush. i would recommend the burger or the chicken pot pie.
I love this restaurant.
It is such a cozy, delicious surprise for Bay Street. It makes you momentarily forget that you are on Bay Street.
I had a lovely lunch with a colleague that truly felt like a break from work. Our food was amazing and our server was wonderful.
It reminded why I continue to return to this neighbourhood gem.
Great food, service was not so great this time. One of the servers was extremely rude, she wasn’t our main server though she just helped with the bill. Usually staff are very pleasant, I’m sure this was a one off.
The Gabardine is a fantastic spot. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great as well.
I enjoyed the food but found it difficult to talk to my lunch partner. The restaurant noise level detracts because it’s so difficult to hear. I realize that the footprint of the restaurant is really small but think the tables are packed in a little too tightly. Hard to negotiate around the furniture. A great chicken club sandwich!!
