This was a treat for my Sister's birthday. I could not fault the experience from arrival to departure. I love this kind of dinning and regularly go to restaurants of this calibre. The food was incredible and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend it and I look forward to going back on my next visit to Bath.

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 or 4 tines before and always found it good. Had a really poor experience on Sunday for lunch. Staters and puddings were good but roast beef was tough and chewy and got sent back, the replacement was the same, the gravy was also really bland - like school dinners. The worst thing was the service, I had to ask for the table to be cleared after our mains after we’d stared at empty plates for a long time. We were then completely abandoned by the staff (it was 3.30pm) and I had to go to the hotel reception to get someone to retrieve our coats then walk around the restaurant and bar looking for someone to pay. A bizarre end to a really poor dining experience.

We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and both the food and the wines were outstanding. They even had a little surprise for my fiancé as we were celebrating her birthday.

Could not fault the food, from the flavour to the presentation: from the quality of ingredients to the cookery skills. The service was wonderful as was the bread and butter selection. Great wine too by the way! We will return!

Overall our lunch at the Gainsborough was a good experience. However when I booked on Open Table I added that it was a double birthday celebration. Later I added another person to the party and told the person who answered the phone which members of the party were celebrating birthdays so I was sure they would get the correct people. So on the day I was surprised and disappointed that when the pudding arrived there was no 'Happy Birthday' on the plate. I phoned the restaurant manager who tells me that you don't 'do' that anymore so why is there a space on the booking form to tell you?

It was my wife's 65th Birthday when we visited Dan moon at the Gainsborough, while the food was superb I was disappointed when no recognition of this special event was made even after I had informed them both when booking and on our arrival. It spoilt what was meant to be special. Love the place but unhappy with this missing spark

This is an elegant restaurant with a restrained ambiance. The food was delicious, without being outstanding and so appropriately priced. The champagne cocktail was a bit mean at £18 for a small flute - (if you have to open a bottle of champagne, then you may as well give the client a decent sized glass!)

We dined at Dan Moon’s at lunchtime. They have a two for one deal on their set lunch. The cooking was sublime. The service excellent, in the hotel and restaurant. If you are anywhere near Bath make the trip you won’t regret it.

Went to Dan Moon for Sunday Lunch. It was the longest 3 course set menu lunch I ever had and it was exhausting. Waiter was gracious when I asked him to please do not forget our table but nothing changed. Food was very good but the overall experience with such wait times in between plates and even to get water was just too much on a Sunday. Front of House Manager gave me his card on the way out for next time, but they don't realise there is only one first time to make a good impression. Why not have a gesture when I am still there?

Loved the breads with different butters.The cheese board was very well presented as well as tasty. The chicken parfait starter was so rich but delicious a great depth of flavour. I enjoyed the Pork Tenderloin especially the salt baked celeriac. We will definitely be back.

Dining room very disappointing, definitely not the feel of a 5 star hotel, much more like a bistro. Dining room requires good quality linen tablecloths, very stark white paintwork needs to be ivory satin and quality curtains not Roman blinds. The food was excellent and the service was very good.

Perfect place to meet up with a very dear ex PMRAFS nurses way back over 40yrs. You could not fault the food , service and setting . We have been three times now and it never fails to please us . Food is nicely presented with love ,care ,attention to detail and above all tastes great . Great value for money . Look forward to going again .

I’v eaten at this restaurant several times and will do so again next week. It is arguably the best in Bath, the Menus are superb and the food presented beautifully . The selection of breads and butters prior to the 1st course is a great improvement on the usual basket of sliced stick. All 3 courses were excellent , the wine list is comprehensive and house wines by the glass are available. Overall, dining at the Gainsborough is a most enjoyable event. Mr Moon is a most imaginative Chef.

I don't normally do reviews, but for here I wanted to. Overall a great experience. Nice ambience (apart from one, slightly tipsy, loud mouth diner), attentive service and nice little touches- but the food, both ingredients & preparation were sublime! I believe the Gainsborough's restaurant currently enjoys a 3 AA red rosette rating, but the overwhelming impression I was left with after dining there was that Dan Moon appears to be gunning for his first star?!! Outstanding!
