   Very limited menu.....no Al Cart menu. Food bland ....batter on fish horrible. Person serving us had really dirty clothes on. Really gone down hill since last time was there. Won't be rushing back

   The food was lovely and excellent value. The singer was reaching all rooms so a tad he loud for those sitting in the one next door. A town centre , so not as ambient as some. Will return though as really enjoyed the food.n

   We booked using the Open Table App. We arrived and there was no reservation for us. We were shown to a table within 10 minutes, but unfortunately it looked like we’d gate crashed a private party as there was a baby shower in the same part of the pub. The food is generally excellent, but today it just wasn’t up to scratch. Soggy carrots and rock hard parsnips. We gave constructive criticism, and was told they had a different chef for this session. We’ll definitely go back. But today wasn’t great 😞

    Really nice place and I would go back but the service wasn’t good …. We waited so long for desserts and two different waiters so one would take order then 10 mins later another one came to take order. Dessert wait was about 25 mins. No one came to check if all ok or more drinks etc .. I had to queue at bar to pay bill. Food was nice though

    Disappointing this time Long wait for service and food No chunky chips available to order My main arrived before the starter and was given the main back once I had finished the starter which had clearly been sat under the warming plate Cold chips warm coleslaw which I did ask to be replaced No real apology

    Met friends for lunch. 3 of us ate from the lite lunch menu and 1 from the a la carte menu. 2 had the pasta - both said it was really tasty! I had the prawn Marie Rose jacket potato, with salad and coleslaw - lovely! 1 had the leek & potato soup to start with a steak pie to follow. The food was fab! Lovely staff - just the right amount of attention given.

    Met a few friends for a catch up, ate from the 2 courses for £16 menu. All had mains and puddings. Great they have a few gluten free and veggie options. Nice food, friendly, helpful staff. Going again for lunch soon!

    Delicious food with many gluten free choices (ask for the allergen menu). Great atmosphere even on a Tuesday in February. Plenty of room between the tables. Helpful staff. Perfect for our meet up of old school friends.

    Lovely venue for a relaxed lunch. Mixture of diners including families, ladies who lunch ( us) etc. Ambience is good with different seating areas including a room where they can accommodate larger groups. Staff are friendly and welcoming, service was good and food delicious. Menu is varied with choice of light bites or full three course.

    We’ve been to the George several times for Sunday lunch and have always been pleased with the service and the food. Last Sunday they must have had staffing problems as it didn’t seem particularly busy. I had booked a table the previous day, when we arrived we had to wait for our table, which was not an issue, but I noticed after 20 minutes that they were taking other people straight into the restaurant, it seemed that they had forgotten about us so I had to ask, we were then seated. Unfortunately the food service was very slow, where normally it’s not. Again after 45 minutes I had to chase up our food order. The food was lovely, as it normally is, and the staff were very apologetic. I’m sure this was just a blip and we will be going back.

    Sunday roast good quantity, fairly tasty, beef was average. Could have done with some colour on the plate, such as carrots as it looked rather bland - green and brown. staff were OK and one waiter was very good, sociable, helpful and welcoming.

    We arrived early for Sunday lunch. Space was found for us in the bar until our table was ready. The food was ordered & arrived quickly. We found the portions rather large, but took our pudding home in a container. The staff were very friendly & attentive, nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be going again soon.

    The two of us had starters and mains from the grill and although very busy the food and service was excellent. The steaks were melt in the mouth and possibly the best we have had in a long while. Overall given it was also New Years day we couldn't ask fir better! Have been before and certainly will again!!

    Lovely dinner at the George. I ordered off the festive menu and had the sea bass. It was delicious with plenty of prawns and mussels. There were actually too many potatoes, but the sauce was lovely too. My husband had a burger and chips. The only drawback was the dessert menu was different to what was on the festive menu, but we both enjoyed the biscoff cheesecake.

    The Sunday Dinners are just incredible. The pork melted in your mouth. Unfortunately the white bait was not as nice and tasted more like sprats but overall the main meal was delicious.

    Food was excellent, however it was absolutely freezing. We left early because it was so cold. Didn't feel a Christmas atmosphere. Could just be a normal night out.
