The night started out with red flags…the security at the door asked “you know all the COVID questions- it’s no to all of them right?” We should have just walked away at that point!
Server had no personality and did bare minimum to interact with us.
The food was very tasty, but everything was cold- soup, prime rib- all cold. Server never came back to check on us so we couldn’t really complain about it. I was given the wrong dessert, but again no one around to tell. I hate set menus, the options were limited.
There was a massive table (maybe 18-20 people) that was well over COVID guideline being SO loud it made for a terrible conversation tone. They were yelling to each other. I think it was 3 maybe 4 tables combined.
There was a light above our table that kept dimming and getting brighter- it was so annoying for the entire meal. The whole experience was not worth $190+
We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday. The food was delicious as usual. Server was friendly . It was quite noisy and hard to hear sometimes. Overall a great dinner.
I have celiac disease and most of the menu can be made to be safe for me! They have gluten-free options for bunds, pizza crust and pasta. I opted for the Maple Glazed Salmon and it did not disappoint! Our server, Molly, was absolutely delightful and knowledgeable about the need to have a gluten-free meal. She was attentive to all of our needs and my dietary needs, especially! She indicated that although they don’t have a dedicated fryer, the kitchen staff and Chef take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible. We were all very pleased with our meals. My friends had the ribs and indicated the BBQ sauce was delish. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!
Found this restaurant on a website that stated The Grizzly Grill should be on your bucket list. Absolutely DO NOT put this on your list. The service took forever. Our server didn't even come to check on us. We had to go and ask for service. From the time we ordered, it took 45 minutes to receive GARLIC BREAD! We flagged the server down and asked when we could expect the rest of our appetizers and we asked to speed up our mains. She said "I'll check". She came back and told us "the manager" would speed things up. We received everything, including our salads (which were supposed to be appetizers) at the same time, including pizzas that had obviously been sitting for a while. Not even warm. We didn't bother sending them back because we just wanted to get out. The server was fake friendly and absolutely horrible at her job. Even our kids noticed the lack of service, and they also told us we cook better food. We were in a dusty, dank corner. We timed the other table's service, and they received both their appetizers and mains in about 20 minutes of sitting down. We were stunned... because it was from the same server. We will NEVER go back. We felt cheated as we wasted over $160 dollars on sub par service and food. The only positive thing I can say is upon arrival, we were greeted in a friendly manner, and our Covid passports were thoroughly checked. Do not put this on your bucket list of restaurants in Kingston.
Good experience overall but freezing by the door
Wonderful casual atmosphere for a night out! Service was excellent and the food was awesome - what a treat! This facility is surprisingly large with several hidden rooms - lovely bar area at back of building offering a private space for gatherings or special events.
Table was well worn and chairs were not the most comfortable, but the service and food were both amazing! So glad we came!!
Thought they would do something nice to celebrate our wedding but they did not. Nor did they have a place to hang coats, which was mighty inconvenient considering we has high chairs with no backs. I had requested regular chairs. Servers seemed bothered just by me getting people in their seats and moving around.
Got the carvery platter for two. Food was good but would have been nice to have an option for a non spicy sauce. The waitress said the ketchup was spicy but didn’t mention the bbq sauce, which was delicious but left my mouth burning. I’m a wimp but my husband who loves spice even found it hot. Otherwise really enjoyed the meal. Tons of food on the platter. More than enough for two people.
The major downside here was the service. Left without drinks for too long, and when I finally flagged the waitress down, she told me she wanted to finish wiping a table before getting a refill for me - despite the place being empty and no one was waiting for a table. On top of that it was our anniversary, and they ask if it’s a special occasion but don’t do anything for it. Usually if asked, it means a free dessert or something. Not a huge deal, but just another miss in terms of service.
I enjoyed the food, but wouldn’t likely go back as it’s quite expensive for what you get, and the service doesn’t match the price.
We enjoyed an early dinner the chicken was delicious but the was prime rib could have been more tender. A few more potatoes would have been nice.
Service was very slow. Food was average. Not a lot of healthy choices. No music or ambiance.
Great service worker but slow service
Food was great
Manager was very unprofessional. We arrived for our reservation and ordered appetizers and drinks. Which came within a reasonable time frame. Then we ordered our meal with a starter salad and waited a very long time. Other tables were served before us and we arrived before them. We finally decided to leave. We were told it's a big restaurant and that we had only been waiting 45min We paid are bill and walked out. Very disappointed with the manager poor attitude. The waitress was very polite.
Great staff and service. Table areas are a bit lacking in coziness due to Covid but enjoyable regardless. Not a big fan of the garlic bread due to the "sauce" on top. A little goes a long way and this was almost floating in it. However our university sons loved it. Would maybe recommend less next time or non. All the other food we ordered was great
Will return :)
Nice, rustic location in downtown Kingston. Convenient location. Good steak and nice atmosphere. Casual, not fancy.
Amazing pasta and great cocktails. The menu is worth the price and you will most likely have left overs for lunch
Amazing food, friendly service, steak was perfect with large platter portions for price - we surveyed our party of 5 was it was unanimous, - gave it 6 stars - so much appreciated, you made our visit to the city even more special. Thanks from all of us, Jonathan
Didn’t expect much from the ambience upon arrival but was hoping the online reviews we’ve read of the food changed our moods quickly ..the appetizer (pecan shrimp and garlic shrimp were very flavorful and perfectly done )
The beet salad arrived with zero pecans (as state in the menu) and drenched in dressing .. I sent it back … the Caesar salad was very heavy on the anchovy .. (perhaps a lemon spritz would have been better )
Main course grilled salmon- delish!!
Stuffed chicken -Delish!!
This place is like going to a truck stop
And ordering a steak and it being the best steak you’ve ever eaten …
Pleasantly surprised… will return ..( but the after 9pm too loud “ gangsta music” ruined our romantic experience as we left the facility… too bad …
Made reservations - seated quickly, as the place was next to empty. Noticed the cooks standing around yakking to each other and goofing around as they were not busy.
Hubs had ribs and mac & cheese, M&C came in one of those iron bowls that go into the pizza oven. It wasn't hot to the touch. He sent it back - when it was returned to table , it was still only semi warm. The server didn't seem all that concerned about it, just agreed that ya, it wasn't hot. I know there are issues with staffing etc. but this just felt like a laissez faire attitude.
Have had very nice meals here before and will come back again. The beef, while served medium rare as requested, was dry and when I asked for steak sauce there was none to be had. The Caesar salad was very good as was the shrimp appetizer. Nice to see many local taps / beers available and I enjoyed the wine too. The server was attentive and very good overall.
We had a great night and will do it again; our servers were friendly and attentive. Food was very good although my burger was a little over done (it still gets a 4/5); my friends got the steak sandwich (5/5 recommend)
18$ To play pool all night is no problem thou at that price it is definitely time to buy some new pool cues that have some felt on the end, lots of tables and nice atmosphere gets it a 4/5 still :)
Note: Original table reservations were made online for high top seating upstairs at 4:30, however because that area doesn’t open till 5 we were surprised to be placed downstairs (no problem at all, I just would make a note of this online along with the information that Proof of Vaccine along with ID will be required)
Thanks for a great night!
Food is good to very good normally and was this time too! Im not a big fan of loud music when we’re dining out and looking forward to a great time to talk. Also, happy to go to a non-chain place. Good beer and wine options but not great, but during the COVID rebound period that’s fair. Server was new but did a great job.
Server was pathetic long wait for dinks then appetizers then dinner.
Good food, service was also good.
Great food. Quantities were perfect. We are of the average meal portion eaters. We shared 2 apps between 6 to start. Service was friendly & not on our case for rushing out the door. Everything was served in a timely matter.
Would certainly visit again when in town.
Owen the server was outstanding Very pleased with virus precautions
We ordered the Mussels, Prime Rib and the Beet Salad, And all of it was absolutely amazing!!! The beet salad flavours were fresh and married so well together. The Mussels were fresh and the sauce was delicious! The Prime Rib was cooked to perfection and the sides were a perfect match! Thank you so much!! it was a great meal!!
High quality ingredients are well prepared and nicely presented. The service from initial greeting through the entire meal was excellent. Try to avoid "fountain" soft drinks as the quality isn't there right now.
Asked for rare prime rib, came med well. Asked for the special, meat was very tough but very tasty. Not enough beans to feed a rabbit.
Service was excellent. Wine very expensive
Really good food, nice day, good service! Will go back!
Food was very good and the employees were very nice and helpful
Not enough alcohol in the sangria. It was also too loud.
Not quite what we expected based on all the prior reviews. Service was very friendly but food was sub standard. It is a roadhouse not a steakhouse.
Roast was not medium rare as told by server, but it was medium.
Gravy on roast, not asked for, would have preferred on the side.
Our waitress was great and the drinks were awesome! We were not the biggest fan of what we were eating and it took a while to get anything - but we understand that it was the first weekend that The Grizz was "fully open" with the new COVID guidelines.....
Great food and price would eat here again. Maybe just more dessert selection
Great vibe, pool tables, good food and drinks at a fair price. Was left hanging for half an hour waiting for a bill (my friend was standing next to the table in a mask, to make it super obvious you wanted to leave). Gotta cut them some slack though as it was the first day back from no indoor service.
It was great to be out! The food was lovely and the server did her best to make my small children happy. Would definitely go back!
Patio was nice, food delicious. Attentive, but not overly, servers. Covid precautions in place and followed.
