Such a fantastic place, I would definitely recommend The Guild to anyone looking to dine among the best the food and drink establishments that Calgary has to offer!
The worst service I have experienced. The service was rude and was condescending towards our table.
This I s a busy restaurant but it would be nice if the management did a better job of confirming that you honored your Open Table reservation so we don’t have to answer accusatory questions afterwards when we WERE there. Thx for your attention to this detail. The burden should not be on the diner.
Was disappointed with the lack of salads especially at lunch. Looked at the menu on line before booking reservation and menus were different. None of our group were very happy with selection.
For a business lunch, service was terrible. The food was good but we waited for pepper and ketchup for nearly 20mins. Staff seemed overwhelmed yet the restaurant was not even half full. It was actually pretty empty. The server kept changing and I believe at the end we had the original lady...weird experience actually.
Good and tasty meal, service was prompt. It felt that perhaps for the price some of the more “pub food” items like a burger were a bit small in portion size.
Very good lunch at the Guild, excellent service, great food
It was a great day to sit outside on their patio. The food and service was good which made for an enjoyable experience.
Bait and switch on the wine specials, poor pizza and the excessive butter can literally be wrung out of the toasted sourdough toast. Pasta was just OK.
Way too hot in the restaurant, almost a deterrent from returning
Great restaurant with a meat inspired menu and a nostalgic yet modern atmosphere. Food is always tasty and done right. Salad portions could be a bit larger but it's a meat place, not a vegetarian menu. Looking forward to my next visit.
My personal opinion that food is not tasty and did not meet my expectations, lalso, I would expect from place like Golder to get beer Stella Artois in the glass of this brand, IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE...and finally we ordered an additional orange juice a little bit later and we didn't receive it, but later I realized that we were charged for it. Such a not nice experience from place which I really wanted to try for a long time. The only one good thing that I can tell that you have a great location and it was nice to enjoy the weather at lunch time.
Steak and mushrooms were excellent, tomato salad was a little weird. Waitress was great and helpful with touristy ideas. Maître d’ forgot about us at the bar and we had to chase him down to be seated. Very busy place, reservations-at 7pm we weren’t seated til almost 8.
Restaurant was too warm. It was 25-26C and the AC was apparently on.
It would have been cooler to eat on the patio with the outdoor air movement.
Nice place. Good service. Staff were very good however there was too few of them.
It was very good food and people. Awesome service.
Food took way too long to come out. We were on a business lunch and were not expecting it to take close to 2 hours...
Good food and atmosphere. The only negative was you could feel the floor and table vibrating from the music in the club downstairs.
Good gluten free options. It was freezing in the restaurant but overall a good experience.
Overall good experience. We ordered the seafood pasta but garlic was quite overwhelming the flavour. Can be cut down a bit. Also the margarita pizza was quite oily.
The Burnt cherry manhattans were a good stiff drink on a cold and snowy spring night. The prairie octopus paella was delicious and tender. I also tried the roasted acorn squash salad, which was slightly overdone. Service was a little slow to start but then improved as soon as my date arrived.
The food was mediocre. But our server was very attentive and friendly. Drinks where delicious.
The service by Pablo was horrible. He barely greeted us. He smiled once. When you observed him going to the other tables, he had the same “ho-hum” manner. He lacked attention to detail and seemed to not care about his job.
The food was fine. It was not something that we were wowed by. We ordered the brisket in maple glaze. It was so rich and just one note. Unfortunately, the meat was so dry.
We used the Travelzoo voucher and were still forced to pay the 18% tip.
Food was good, however the fries my client had said they tasted like they were left over from the day before.
His main he said was outstanding, so he wasn’t put off of his meal just because of the fries.
The market sausage I ordered was fantastic!
Our waitress, and the shift manager were very thorough in making sure we always had water and made sure our meals were correct.
We felt very taken care of.
The food was outstanding as always. Our service was disjointed. We ordered everything at once, cocktails, appetizers and main. We decided to have a bottle of wine with our meal and ordered after our appetizer. Unfortunately, the wine arrived half way through our main course.
Great happy hour weekdays. Could do with extra servers. Overall great quality appis and drinks
Not much to write home about. Cobb salad didn’t have much substance to justify the cost - ingredients were scarce and not fresh. The burger and fries looked the size and quality of a truck stop. And the “famous” brisket was fatty with no sides. Service was attentive but very transactional- contrastingly unmatched to the sophistication of the decor and ambience.
We had a wonderful time, great appetizers to share, good food and excellent, attentive service. Thank you!
Service was excellent. Food not so much. Had the pizza and the dough was soggy not cooked. Wife had the salmon and it was to dry and bland.
So so service. Octopus was over cooked and meatloaf incredibly salty. I felt like we were treated like second class because we were using Travelzoo voucher. Lovely space.
Wish there was a little more variety in terms of appetizers and shareables (with such wine selection it's a shame there are no cheese or charcuterie platters).
The music was to loud for a social dining evening. We were seated on the main floor and had to elevate our voices. Please don’t get me wrong...it was by no means eritating it was just a little to loud.
Great happy hour until 6PM. Bar bites are half price and I highly recommend the bone marrow as it was incredible. Our server, wish I had caught her name was so genuine and kind and our overall experience was very good.
Food was great, however the waitress got our order completely wrong and did not own up to the fact that our order was wrong. They finally ended up compensating is for a bottle of wine, but still made us pay full price for our wrong order which was $100 per head just for the main.
Not sure where to start. From a Unknowledgeable waiter about the menu to being served undercooked Prime Rib...I’ve been there once last year and I can’t believe the decline in service and quality of foods. Truly disappointed.
The ambiance was very nice and the service excellent, but the food was lacking. I ordered a medium rare steak but had to send it back as it was dry and chewy...not moist at all. My husband had the brisket, which was very tasty, but extremely fatty. I did, however, order this when I sent back my steak. I didn't care much about the wild berry sauce surrounding it. No other vegetables.
My one friend ordered the salmon and loved it. My other friend ordered the chicken fried rice. He was taken aback by the presentation as he did not expect to see an actual chicken plopped on top of the rice - he assumed there would be cut up pieces of chicken.
The bread pudding, however, was delicious. The washrooms (dungeon) was 3 floors down and the bad smell was over-powering. Not sure why this is...they were very beautiful once you got there.
Food was excellent - my wife’s steak was cooked to perfection and well seasoned
We had the Calamari as an appetizer and it was some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the city
While the squid in the paella was a little bit rubbery the overall flavour of the dish was perfect
As we were one the last reservations of the night it was greatly appreciated that they offered to keep the full kitchen open a little bit longer for us so we could order a full dinner rather then just ‘bar bites’
Excellent service and amazing entrees. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and made our night really enjoyable. Definitely a bit in the expensive side but well worth it. I had the octopus paella, would definitely recommend. One of the most fun dinners I’ve had in a while!
The food and service was a bit inconsistent. We had the beet salad to start which was very good while the maple glaze beef brisket and carrot cake were just okay.
Food was below expectation. I got pasta and asked to add chicken. The roasted chicken was smelly and bacons were not fresh at all. Added chicken was cold and not fresh.
