Smoked Salvatore Ricotta, Wood Grilled Garlic Anchovy Bread
This was our first time eating at Highlawn since they re-opened. The decor was very nice much more current than before. Of course the view is spectacular. Three out of 4 of us loved our food however for the prices they are charging the service needs to be much better
The restaurant is superb. The atmosphere can’t be beat with the view of the NY skyline, but more importantly, the food is delicious. The staff was very inventive to my dairy and gluten issues and I was able to still have a flavorful/tasty dinner. We will definitely be going back.
What can I say the place is amazing.
We were seated with a partial window seat which had amazing views of NYC. We split market oysters which were literally some of the freshest we have ever had. I had the Bronzino which was cooked beautifully and had a truffle sauce that was ok but i really enjoyed the dish. My husband devoured his flintstone size prime rib which he said he loved. I liked the pop over alot!
Dessert we split the highlawn sundae which was just delightful.
We had such ana amazing time. The servers were excllent and the food was delicous. Loved the Mash Potatoes and the steak was amazing as well. Defeintely recommend it for people want good food and atmosphere.
It was my boyfriend’s birthday. They got us champagne without asking. Amazing food and real amazing service. Will go again and again.
We were so excited to go back to Highlawn after the renovation. The renovations were much needed and they did a nice cosmetic makeover. The blue lights at the bar and music was pretty cheesy but I guess they're trying to make it cool...Martini was fine but not that cold and service at the bar was pleasant. Cowgirl Ribeye wasn't anything to write home about, especially for $60+ but the frito misto and branzino were excellent. Our waitress was really wonderful and entire waitstaff was very professional. All in all pretty good but for $300 for two people I would have expected better.
Outstanding on every level! Can’t wait to go back
Very good. A bit loud for a New Jersey establishment
Excellent food, Dry aged Sirloin, my Wife had the Sea Bass. Both excellent. Dessert we both had the pistachio creme brulee, great finish to a great meal. Service was friendly but professional. Good to see Roger still there. Wish you all luck with your new endeavor.
First time going. We quite enjoyed getting a cocktail at bar prior. Was a little crowded but they had a good system with turning seats and overall vibe was cool. Upon leaving to go into dining room atmosphere went from intimate to very bright and stale. Menu looked very appealing and decadent so was excited to try different things but noticed prices were high. Upon receiving our meal look the taste didn’t meet expectations for the price. After bill was paid my husband made a good point and referred to dinner he would get from a catering hall.
What a great night. We were here for an Anniversary. We were seated at a great window seat and welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne. Food was delicious and service was friendly and warm. We had our dessert delivered with happy Anniversary painted in chocolate and with a sparkler which we enjoyed. It was a great find!
Excellent service and very strong communication through the staff members; no order confusions and even through a table change the food and drinks ordered at the bar came to our new table with no issues or delays. Everyone was very professional and I felt as though I had been going there for years when it was only my first time.
Loved our experience. First time here the market oysters were extremely fresh. The meatball was one of the best I have ever had ! Bronzino had a few too many mushroom but i really enjoyed. Staff was very friendly. We will be back!
The service was excellent, as was the food. Having to pay additional for some sides was a bit out of line.
I selected Highlawn as the place to celebrate my wife's 71st Birthday which means that it needed to be a very special place, with great food, great ambiance and excellent service!! The Highlawn scored a five out of five in all of these important areas and made an extraordinarily important day for my wife and I, an extraordinary experience. Well played Highlawn we will be returning to see you soon!!
This is one of the places where I find every dish amazing. The food is not only good but also challenges your senses.
The wine list has a great selection for you to choose from and the cocktails are amazing.
The staff is amazingly efficient, they make you feel like they are there for you.
The dessert. Oh my... I feel like I'll be talking about the desserts from here for quite a long time!
Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food was delicious.
Food was, good overall. I ordered the special-the skirt steak it was poorly presented and very little for the price. I am comparing the plate presentation and amount of food to my other seat mates.
Very poor choice for a brunch buffet. Meat was cold and very rear. Asked if they could cook it , heat it and said it wasn’t possible. It was a complete let down. Poor customer service. Very little choice.
We went for brunch and the restaurant was open but the hostesses sat my friend and I by a large party with kids. The food was cold and had been sitting out for a while without being replenished. The over priced Champagne was good for being over priced.
The view can’t be beat. However the food could be better and brunch is not worth the $45. The buffet was underwhelming and the food was not hot. Also mimosas aren’t included as it states here on the app.
We visited the High Lawn for Sunday brunch. The food and selection of items was just OK. The server consistently forgot to bring water and silverware despite being asked. View was gorgeous.
What a great view, food and service. The inly drawback was noise level
Beautiful views and good food. Portion sizes can be very small though. This place is very busy, seemed like they were trying to get people in and out. Definitely did feel some of the rush to leave.
The Highlawn does not disappoint. Food and service was excellent. Have been going to the Highlawn for over 20 years. Truly a special occasion venue.
From drinks to dessert dinner everything was delicious.
We randomly found the restaurant on OpenTable and give it a try. The venues was beautiful with a breathtaking view of Manhattan skyline. Service was magnificent and the food was great. The ambient could be a little more warm as the light was a little too bright. We would definitely comeback though.
Absolutely amazing service and food. The renovation was amazing.
Service was impeccable. Warm atmosphere, cleaned the tables and surfaces and not over crowded.
NY skyline view "breathtaking"!
There was confusion about our table and had to wait 30 minutes even with reservations. Dining room was very crowded, loud, and drafty - unlike in the past. Food was drowned in olive oil.
There were many servers and all were very helpful.
Everything was perfect: food, service, ambiance. Our waiter, Mike, as well as the servers were friendly and professional. The Beverage Manager, Nick, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We will be returning often and highly recommend it.
Overall very good! My compliments to the manager.
We had a groups of 7 for dinner and drinks to celebrate a friend on a Thursday. The piano player was so good and everything from the service to the food and drinks were on point! Best night out in a long time. We can’t wait to go back!
I booked my reservation for New Year's Day Dinner for a 5 PM reservation. When we sat down for dinner we were informed that there was no dinner menu, but there was a brunch menu for the whole day. They did, however, add a few dinner items once they realized that brunch for dinner wasn't going to work. Had I known it was brunch only, we would have reserved elsewhere. I did go back to the website to confirm that I did book for dinner.
We were initially given an drink menu and upon trying to order drinks, we were informed that we needed to use a different menu for drinks, because some things were not available. The drinks that came out were tasty and delicious and representative of their descriptions. It did take a while for the cocktails to come out and we were offered water as well.
We ordered partially from the brunch menu and partially from the added specials. All of the food that came out was delicious and tasty. The Shrimp cocktail was divine and the eggs Benedict were excellent. Our table (6) really had an assortment of food, ranging in the above mentioned, salad, pizza, hamburger, branzino and veal chop. All of the food was excellent, and although the veal was cooked to the correct temperature, it was not warm upon serving. I think it was hard to coordinate the vast variety of foods we ordered to come out all at the same time.
We all ordered desert and it was very great, chocolate, sorbets and ice creams, creme brulee were all prepared well and were great. Oddly enough, we were never offered coffee or tea service. To be fair, non of us asked, but it was strange to no be offered if when they were taking the orders.
It took and long time for drinks, apps, and food to come out. We were there at 5:15 and didn't leave until almost 7:45. the restaurant was prob 1/4 - 1/3 full and there was plenty of staff around and we always had different people coming up to us. Our principal server was excellent and answered all questions, etc.
It was wonderful! The place is beautifully redone yet they kept the historical nature of the building. The food- terrific. Live music in the bar could be heard throughout the dining area. Truly lovely.
Good New Year’s Eve dinner. All the staff were courteous and helpful. The filet mignon was a bit dry perhaps because I had the last one. Otherwise, it was overall another great experience at the Highlawn.
