The Hollows is a locally owned/operated restaurant located in the Riversdale neighbourhood of Saskatoon in the historic Golden Dragon building. We are two young chefs dedicated to serving contemporary food focused on natural and seasonal products.
Our food is made with the best ingredients we can find in our area: cultivated plants grown from heirloom seeds, wild-harvested leaves and mushrooms, flowers, sap and roots, local fish — sustainably raised, pastured meat, poultry and eggs from small farmers.
Our dishes change and evolve with the seasons. We brine, cure and smoke — as cooks have been doing for thousands of years — but we also embrace modern cooking techniques. We’ve been cooking in Vancouver, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Spain; and we feel it is time to bring what we have learned to Saskatchewan, which is for us a land of opportunity.

Poutine and beer for $12 seems to be what my group and I tend to hit The Hollows for on Wednesday’s. Service is great. We always enjoy our time there.
The Hollows is a wonderful and eclectic spot in Riversdale. It’s got funky charm and delicious cocktails. The menu has a variety of creatively designed and prepared dishes which we can honestly say are all delicious. The endive salad is my personal favourite, go check it out I’d you have not already.
Amazing food and service as usually. My favourite brunch spot, and it’s so great to bring our 8 month old. Can’t wait to go back. Have the French toast! It’s amazing.
Disappointing brunch: over-salted food (even the salads), bacon on what should have been a vegetarian meal (twice!), mediocre coffee. Good service and nice ambiance nonetheless.
As always the food was amazing and the service friendly and fun
Kitschy and cozy with vintage decor and smooth ambiance music. Cocktails are bang-on - I really got a kick out of the super skinny Collins glass my Chelsey Morning was served in.
The oysters are by far the best in the city and served with both shallot and horseradish mignonette. Could not pass up a second round of them!
We shared the endive salad and fish croquettes, both delicious!
My entree was the ricotta ravioli with kale pesto and my partner had the duck breast.
Nice wine list as well!
The wait staff are very pleasant and friendly as was the mixologist.
The only drawback is the wait time both on service and food. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm and we left at 9:15 pm.
A very pleasant evening.
The noise was loud and rowdy, didn’t feel like it was worth the expense and didn’t create the greatest environment. Would have really appreciated if the tasting menu was more prompt, as they’re typically meant to be. Thank you to our server for serving us.
All good. Background music too loud. Otherwise top shelf
Best restaurant in town hands down. The oysters were fresh and to die. Everything is made with such care, from drinks to appetizers to main courses. We always go back again and again.
Excellent as usual. Went for our anniversary and had the tasting menu, it was amazing.
Chef Christie’s recent experience at Noma is already resulting in some new menu options that were just bursting with flavor. Can’t wait to go back to try more.
Food and service was outstanding. Loved our first time dining at the Hollows.
Amazing time at The Hollows! This was our first visit and it won't be our last. The food was excellent, presentation was beautiful. Everything was done to perfection. It was a Master Chef experience.
Interesting food, will come back to try some more.
My personal notes:
The Hollows - Saskatoon
- Try making a twisted tea because theirs is AMAZING
- pink beets surprisingly subtle and flavourful. Paired with grapefruit and balsamic made from home grown grapes was so good and the cheese was perfect!
- Make a broth and then place the ingredients into the broth to serve... dill paired well with beets and the broth was a bitter small berry broth. Tons of colour. Learn how to make a creme fresh and try to work with dill more because it amazing in this dish - fermented cabbage added some tang with the meal... very complex flavour profile
- Scallops surprisingly smell fishy but don’t taste it at all - try making a saffron risotto to take this to the next level - Brussel sprout leaves are great for a pop of colour and crunch
- Duck is always amazing but crisp the outside up because that’s what brought this dish to life - book choy comes of a lot like Brussel sports when crispy - lentils can be a nice earthy sweetness and PLUMS - purée and poached - SO GOOD - warmed spiced honey really nice drizzle - cut off the ends of the bon choy - too watery - really breaks the dish up in your mouth - whole dish was a little sweet without the duck or charred bok choy
- Dehydration can be cool made an ice cream with dehydrated pine needles then deep fried crab apples - SO F**KING GOOD
- Cool atmosphere- great classic rock - they aren’t fooling anyone - doesn’t have to be a fancy interior to have great edgy grub! Great spot! Highly recommend! Would come back seasonly to try the different flavours or the prairies!!
Sunday brunch at The Hollows is pretty special - it is a fabulous place, and the food and service were awesome. A great alternative to Poached and Hometown, which are usually hard to get tables at on the weekends.
As always, amazing atmosphere, food and service! My favourite place for dinner and brunch! The pate, scallop risotto and tempura squash were highlights of this meal!
All around good experience
Good service. Food was mediocre this time. I had the scallops with risotto. Scallops were very well seasoned but the lemon risotto was very bland and watery. Prices have increased but food quality wasn’t up to par this time.
The smallest slice of terrine I have ever witnessed. Scallop dish presented with two scallops. The server brought out an extra scallop as we were served the tasting menu portion. Risotto was gluey. Bison tartar delicious. Left hungry.
Service is awesome! My husband and I had a wonderful night there at the Hollow.
Had our company holiday supper at the Hollows. First rate!
The curb appeal is lacking. The inside funky. The food eclectic and wonderful. Service was spot on. Shelby, our server, was an absolute delight. Shirley says "hi". My wife and I know a great place when we find one. This is one of them. I hate the expression, but...this is a hidden gem that shouldn't be hidden.
Very busy Sunday brunch. Hard to have a quiet conversation. Food was pretty good.
They were very accommodating with my request for a big group (8) and was happy to even add an extra chair for a late comer. Food was great. I recommend any of the food on the menu and especially the bone marrow.
This was our first visit and we'll certainly be back. The server was outstanding in that he took the time to explain the way the items on the menu were prepared, the relationship between the restaurant and their suppliers and made excellent suggestions for pairing our choices. We chose different dishes that we could share and were delighted. The wine flights are an excellent option. We recognize that the ambiance of the old Golden Dragon doesn't necessarily contribute much but once we were into our meal, we hardly noticed.
Tasty food, great atmosphere. One of my favourite places for brunch in Saskatoon!
We had a wonderful dinner and evening. We were celebrating two birthdays. Everything was exceptional. Many thank for a memorable night.
Way too expensive for what you get. Especially considering they are in what is likely a very low rent building that has not been renovated whatsoever. Food was ok -- not good, just ok -- but not near large enough portions.
Amazing food, service and experience. Great place for a small group or as a pair.
Great food and great service! I have already recommended the place to friends :) oh, coffee was great as well!!! The best place for “Brunch” in Saskatoon! :)
We went out to visit with friends. The place was very cool and the food was amazing. A bit pricy but definitely worth the experience!
The restaurant keeps improving and improving. We had an absolutely perfect dinner
We loved it and would recommend The Hollows. In town for just a few days and tried many restaurants. The food here was my favorite - keep doing what you're doing!
It was okay. Service was a little sketchy and food was average. It was missing something on this visit.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Great food. Great service. A lovely way to enjoy a Saturday morning!
Best food. Fine dining hidden in an old Chinese decor from the past. One of the top 3 meals I’ve had and we travel. Loved it. Fresh herbs from the garden. Presentation superb. We all had the tasting menu with the wine paring each time we went
Food and cocktails were delicious and service was fantastic. Restaurant was quite loud so a bit difficult to visit with people at our table. Great if you like a very energetic atmosphere! Overall we would come back!
Great food and ambience
One of the best meals I have ever had- especially with a table for 8
The experience was absolutely outstanding!! Love the food at The Hollows!!!
