The Italian Osteria & Cheese Bar
Benvenuto & Buon Appetito!
We love the Italian
Great food, wonderful setting, friendly staff.
Only downside was thats we contacted their pick up/ drop off service but 3 voicemails later well in advance and no call back so we had to walk there.
We made an early reservation for dinner as we were going to a hockey game afterwards and so were in time for Happy Hour. $11.00 pizzas, $5.00 beers and $4.00 wines - can’t beat that! And all very good too! Our friends were amazed.
Excellent food. excellent service. Very loud Hard to talk. Wish they had a patio for summer dining.
Great time. We started with the carpaccio which had great flavor and melted in your mouth. Than I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly and we accompanied with gnocchi that had been lightly fried. Great combination. My husband had the lasagna which was one of the best we had ever tasted. Fork slid thru the pasta noodles - cheese was not overdone it was just perfect. The service was great from the minute we arrived until we left. We will defiantly be back.
Very disappointed that we my kids ordered scallops with their risotto they were each no bigger than my index finger and were $4/piece. Food, especially spaghetti was very salty. Not sure we'll be coming to your establishment again.
Nothing notable happened good or bad. The menu has been reduced from what I remember. I used to love the Butternut Squash Ravioli but it’s no longer offered. I tried the Rustic Ravioli and it was very bland and definitely not close to the $24 charge. No acknowledgment of special occasion (birthday), no offer of bread, no mention of cheese bar offerings. I forgot about those. The menu doesn’t mention which entrees include salad so my husband ordered a separate Caesar ($12) but waiter brought the included mini salad for a slight upcharge. He would have preferred a large size. Limited offering other than pasta and pizza (no steak or short ribs). It was “ok”. I’d return with a more limited expectation - pizza night.
Great meal as always!!
New Years Eve is never easy. Busiest night of the year. The service was excellent but a couple of our meals didn’t show up on time so some of us finished before the late meals showed up. Unfortunate, but we got apologies from at least three different staff members, including the manger. They owned it, fixed it as soon as they could, and made it right by comping the two meals. We were very happy with how it was handled. The food was excellent and we will definitely be going back.
Awesome pizza. Boar “ragu” was fine.
New Years dinner. Our server was attentive and accurate especially for a very busy restaurant. The food was outstanding and better than expected. We will be back for sure. The only downside was the ladies at the door seemed overwhelmed and disorganized but they pulled it off.
Lasgna was good. Disappointed, for the price, no salad and no bread. We were on the lunch menu apparently. To pay $48.00 for lasgna and nothing with it is too much. I had a glass of wine so our
bill with a tip was close to $60.00. We have been before for the dinner so was surprised that we didn't at least get a complimentary salad.
It was a perfect place for girls night out!
I have been to this restaurant before and the service was excellent and food was very good. This time the service was quiet bad and the food wasn’t up to par. I told my close friend that this restaurant was very good so I convinced them to try it out. Non of us really had a good experience this time around. The table didn’t have enough cutlery for 4 ppl, it had cutlery for 2 ppl even though my reservation was for 4 ppl. When I told the server I need 2 more forks they brought 4 knives and no forks or napkins. I then told the server I need forks and napkins and they only brought napkins. Then after a third time asking they brought forks. It was so hard to flag down the server to bring us cutlery during the whole time because they rarely came back to check on us. Then when the server was to pour our wine they spilled it on the table. Then when we got our meals we were half way through eating it and the server comes up and says do you want me to pack your meals now. We were still eating our food!!! Not sure if the server was having a bad day or not but that experience we all had did not represent the company well.
Really good Italian food and ambiance. Only thing to do better was maybe a bit more salad, when they gave us our bowl it only had a few pieces of lettuce on it to share between 3 people.
Not bad. Service was mediocre. Drinks were empty. Had to ask for steak knives and spoons. Bisteca/spag meatballs
I liked everything about this restaurant. The noise level was low which I appreciated. As a vegetarian I appreciated the multiple choices. The wine list is good and we enjoyed he Italian Rose' Pallazi.
Family get together . Food and Wine great. Fun experience!
Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your ratings and very kind comments! We look forward to seeing you back again soon.
My friend and i had the spagetti and meatbals and it was way to salty..We ended up not have to pay for our meal so that was good..Been now twice to your restaurant and both time have been a let down so i wont return..

Loved sharing the items, felt like a variety of food, good portions recommend groups of 4 to 6, super good to try all the items, high quality foods
Our table by the window was drafty and cold and the interior of the restaurant needs some upkeep ( our booth seat was ripped). Although supposedly freshly made pasta it is still overpriced for that.
Service was good.
GREAT PLACE IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A BLEND OF UPSCALE AND COMFORTABLE THAT DOESN'T FEEL PRETENTIOUS. PERFECT FOR LADIES NIGHT!
Food was ok..salad didnt have enough dressing, alfredo was creamy but no flavour, beehive pizza was awesome! Service was pretty good but My husband was served a 2nd beer without being asked I was never asked if I wanted a second drink. I don't know if we will return but atmosphere was nice seemed like a fun place to go with friends.
Yesterday was my girlfriend’s birthday and she wanna be there for dining. I live really close to there and I didn’t know where this restaurant is. However, it is so great and hidden jam for us. We both enjoyed our food, atmosphere, and reasonable price as well. She told me she definitely would be back for dining or cheese bar with me next time.
Good food, good service. Nice ambience. Love the tiramisu! But no espresso for cappuccino?? That was disappointing
Overall the experience was good. I thought our servers knowledge of wine and liquor could have been better. She did recommend an excellent wine but when asking about some of the other choices on our second bottle she was not very sure of her self and lacked confidence. I also thought she was not great at reading our table very well as she neglected us at times and her timing was a little off. She missed some opportunity for another round of drinks because she was slow or perhaps not organizing her time well in her section.
Food was great, service was okay. However I requested to get happy birthday mom written on the dessert, which S+L kitchen (sister restaurant of this restaurant) did, and our server said happy birthday to my mom. At the Italian osteria, no one seemed to know, even our server. I asked when he served to dessert whys there no Halley birthday or a candle on it. He said we don’t do that here. But seemed not knowing about my request.
I would go back for the food, but won’t take someone there for birthday.
This place is always good. Beef carpaccio and spaghetti and meatballs. They do them well, solid value compared to higher end italian places that don’t have much improvement over quality or consistency
I LOVE THIS PLACE, Would Recommend To Anyone Wanting A Great Dinner We Choose To Go Family Style And Was Super Fun
This was our second visit, and I am happy to say that we had a much better experience than our first visit. I am glad we tried again, as we have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant. Our meals this time were delicious, and we will be back again!!
The restaurant was very loud, especially the music. The waitress was not very attentive, it took a long time to get the bill and pay. One of the dishes we had was prawn pesto linguini - you had to really search for the prawns! Overall not the greatest experience.
Pasta dishes were all excellent & good value! Service was very good. Wine prices are on the high side & menus are a little confusing.
Wild boar pasta was basically hamburger helper. Scallop appy was mostly gnocchis as far as I could tell. Plating of ravioli was pedestrian at best. Large chunks / slices of tomato, really.
Waited a bit to be seated and when we were, it was basically here’s your table , see ya!
I don’t expect ask for Luigi or hawksworth quality but if you are going to serve wild boar maybe shred it and serve with papardello. Instead of what looked like ground pork with shell pasta.
Pizza was great classic Alfredo was good as well. We have eaten at S + L ‘s a few times as well but It was our first time and last time here.
We were disappointed that they could not serve Cappuccino, Latter , or Espresso coffee as they had their machine removed. An Italian restaurant normally would have this.
Really great service. I wasn't a huge fan of my pasta dish but everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food. Experience was great.
Slowest service. Kept forgetting our items. Whether is wine or other asks. Took forever.
Why ask if it’s a special occasion if that’s the service level.
The food was blah. Meatballs are good and pesto pasta.
Everything else was watered down and gross.

We were a little disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered the Beehive pizza and the salami was so spicy that he couldn’t eat it. He commented to the waitress that it was too spicy, and she said, “ya...it is spicy”. A little warning ahead of ordering would have been appreciated.
I ordered the Prawn Pesto and it was very tasty but I counted 4 tiny bits of prawns.
We heard good things about the restaurant, so we will try again sometime with different menu choices.

This is the first time I have said that I would not recommend The Italian to a friend. My wife and I, along with friends and family have dined at The Italian several times and in the beginning it was always an incredible experience. This last visit made for the second visit in a row that our experience was so far below expectations, I cannot imagine that we will ever come back to dine in the future. Both times the food has been quite good, but one meal each time was just way off from standard. The first time it was the Risotto was really bland and not prepared well and this last visit I had the Spaghetti with Meatballs and it was good, but the meatballs were dry and hard, as if they were overcooked and old. On this recent visit, our server was friendly, but not engaging in any way and was very inattentive to serving our table. She was absent for long periods at a time, plates were left dirty on the table for much longer than acceptable, it took a long time for her to take each stage of our order (drinks, appetizer, entree) and while her wine service/presentation was good, she never did return to top up our empty glasses, so we had to pour the wine ourselves.
Surprisingly enough I like this place. Never noticed it before and it's been there 2 years apparently. Music was a good vibe a but they did play crap in between which was a mood killer at times. Pasta was excellent. Wife had pizza that was mediocre at best. I'll be back
Great place. The food is good and prices are too! We’ve been a few times and love it.
