   I love asian food, so was very excited for the visit. I was disappointed by the quality and flavour of the food. It was beautifully presented but nothing tasted of anything, poorly seasoned, let alone not having any flavour or kick. Dumplings were fine, if a little flavourless. Salad was fine, but over-dressed and the duck was dry. Rice and broccoli were fine. Tempura vegetables were disgusting - oil needed changing, batter was too thick and did not resemble delicate tempura batter, and it was burnt. It was honestly like eating the bottom of the chip pan. Szechuan chicken was over-cooked, under seasoned, did not taste of szechuan at all and was like eating dry, burnt batter.

   Fantastic evening. Great service and some of the best food we have had in a long time. Love the sharing concept. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave good advice. Will definitely go back

   the overall experience was fantastic but spoiled as we were asked to leave before we had finished our meal, through no fault of ours we ate our food she it was put in front of us. if your presenting yourself as a fine dining establishment then you should give time to make your diners feel they are not on a conveyor belt!

    Long delay as Coldplay were in Town but staff did their best to cope. We were able to wait at bar with drinks able to be put on table tab. Once sat down food was served quickly and efficiently and we were soon on our way to the Principality Stadium.

    I had made a reservation for 6pm. We arrived a few minutes before and there was a large queue outside of people waiting to be seated that also had reservations. We spent I think around 35-40 minutes waiting to be seated. We actually asked to sit in the outside area in the end to be seated more quickly as there were already a lot waiting at the bar area. The staff were clearly very busy and doing their best. Food was served relatively quickly. I can't say that my food was anything to write home about. I opted for the Szechuan chicken and a side of steamed rice. For over £21 for the dish and another £4 for the rice it was just average. It felt it was very expensive for what it was. The restaurant is obviously very beautiful but I cant say I would rush back.

    Very efficient service a little delay before we got to our table but that’s to be expected on an event day! The waiters, security guard and receptionist were so friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely and served quickly highly recommended! Thanks again

    Table booked for 5:45pm - arrived at 5:30 to a long que outside of the restaurant. Waited 20 minutes outside before seeing someone on the door who was apologising for the wait. After around 25 mins we got into the reception area to be greeted and told it’s only a 10 minute wait now for our table so we thought great, they took us to the bar area to wait for our table to be finished getting ready. The bar area was full of others waiting to also be seated. Took 25 minutes to be served at the bar to order a couple of cokes with people pushing in. So at this point it was 6:20 ish. We had no communication with anybody telling us what was happening. We didn’t get seated until 1hr 25mins after our scheduled dining time. It was our anniversary, looking forward to celebrating. We had never been to The Ivy Asia before and we certainly won’t be coming back. Our drinks (couple diet cokes) and a dish was comped - compared to other tables having whole bottles of wine honoured.

    45 mins seated late past our reservation time. The restaurant was way over booked and clearly couldn’t accommodate the bookings. C50+ people queuing outside waiting despite having a reservation Was told to go to the seats reserved at the bar whilst we waited. There were 4 of us and one chair, which was promptly sat in by another guest. To be fair we were offered some starters to help keep the peace. Food was amazing. Service however VERY poor.

    We love visiting the Ivy Asia, for the food, the atmosphere and the sense of a special occasion. This was a very busy day due to a big concert in the city. The restaurant was fully booked. Our table for 5.15pm was delayed by nearly half an hour. The service was friendly but a little disorganised. They were clearly under pressure, but several times requests had to be made more than once for the same thing. The food was good but the chicken kebabs were fatty. They turned out to be cuts from chicken thighs, which we wouldn’t have chosen had we known. My advice would be to be wary of visiting on a very busy day and also check the cut of meat used! We’ve always had a five star experience in the past but I’m afraid that this visit was only with three stars!

    We went on the evening of Coldplay concert. Booked for 5 but wasn’t seated until 5.35 and there were far too many bookings taken so was like a meat market. Service was a bit of a shambles, although very nice when actually being served. Food was lovely!

    Great lunch! Hannah at the reception desk was really helpful as I had to amend the booking a couple of times, and Jasmine was a terrific waitress due to her attitude, attention and happy personality.

    Excellent service. Lovely ambience. Food delicious and hot. We were told by our server that the food was served like tapas so to order quite a few dishes but we found two starters and two main plates with a small rice was more than enough. Would certainly return.

    Overall a nice experience however felt everything was extremely over priced for the portion sizes. Beef tataki sliced quite thick (so was chewy ) and far too much onion on top. Char siu pork delicious! Had the sphere dessert and sent this back and I really disliked this dish. The caramel doesn’t go at all with any of the flavors and as every component is very soft the whole thing melted into a soft overly sweet puddle. Not pleasant. Staff also put their food orders on our bill and although this doesn’t add any cost not very professional for STF food to show up on our bill.

    This was our first experience of the Ivy Asia in Cardiff, having been recommended by friends. For an occasion, the venue could not be bettered; taking the Oriental theme to a high level of decor. The service was excellent and the staff recognised that we were there to celebrate an anniversary. The food was good, but not outstanding, so a bit disappointing there, but we were comparing the cost to somewhere like The Gaff in Abergavenny, which is consistently excellent. I'd recommend the restaurant for a sense of occasion rather than a culinary experience.
