The Ivy Buchanan Street Glasgow
The Ivy Buchanan Street offers residents, businesses and shoppers a relaxed yet sophisticated dining experience.
Service was excellent. Food was amazing. Will definitely return and recommend.
Food was very good (I had the sirloin steak and my partner had the sea-bass) although a 20% service charge is pushing it too far as we were planning on tipping anyway but this brought the bill to a lot higher than expected.
Went to the Ivy in Glasgow on Sunday evening for a ‘special birthday’ meal. It’s a very attractive restaurant done in the Art Deco style.
We were greeted warmly and our coats taken and shown to our table.
The staff were lovely attentive and friendly.
We ordered drinks which given it was a quiet night took an almost unacceptable amount of time to come. I also felt that charging £3.50 for a small bottle of coke was really excessive.
The menu is varied with lots of fish with shellfish which for me is an issue as I’m allergic to shellfish also several items had truffle oil which I don’t like. However it’s a fairly extensive menu with something for everyone.
The food service was good. I had crispy duck salad to start which was very nice. My main was shepherds pie, which was also very nice, but not very substantial. A family member had ordered the chicken Milanese as her main and she’d ordered chips as a side as it didn’t come with anything and I ended up eating half her chips to fill up!!
We didn’t have pudding but ordered coffee, which didn’t come with anything, I had expected the coffee to be accompanied by some kind of petit four and felt that was a bit mean.
We’d ordered a bottle of wine a Montepulciano which was nice but at almost £40 again I felt was overpriced.
The bill has a service charge of 12.5 % which was fine, but I do understand some people prefer to tip as they feel inclined.
I felt the prices were fine for food but the drinks were somewhat overpriced.
I enjoyed my meal and would go back, however not for a ‘special’ meal, as I didn’t feel it was frankly special enough. The dress code is smart casual, but I felt for evening dining it was just a bit too casual.
Epic. Great service. Lovely menu and food cooked well. Pricey but you get what you pay for and it feels special and like an experience. Service team couldn’t do enough to make it special
I expected the food to be average, small portions and over priced however I was pleasantly surprised. Fair portions of excellent food, fantastic Bloody Mary and attentive service. Would recommend and will definitely return
Booking was made for 9pm. Our table wasn’t ready until 9:45 which was too late for us to enjoy our meal. We had plans further plans booked for 11pm therefore we could only have one course instead of a 3 course dinner which we were looking forward to. The manager was apologetic and tried to do all she could however the waiter who took our order also forgot to bring the thick cut chips that were ordered which topped off a miserable experience at the IVY.
This is the second time I have been to the Ivy Glasgow and was very late to be taken to our table. On Saturday we had our food at 9.40!
Casey our waiter was excellent. Team on the door we’re very apologetic and did give us a bottle of champagne. I visit the Ivy Grill a lot. Going to the Richmond one again on the 17th of March. Private room, which I recommended. Glasgow, not so sure I will be back!
Waited 45 minutes on a booked table had to ask at 30 mins over how long our table would be to get 2 round tables pushed together
Small things like not taking your coats when you arrive are not what you would expect
Food is nice be aware that a service charge is already applied to your bill
Service ok staff very nice if not always competent
Very hot tonight.....VERY VERY LOUD....made the experience less than pleasurable
Lovely cream tea with my friend, absolutely gorgeous, service was wonderful as always, I'm recovering from a knee Injury and the staff didn't hesitate seating me downstairs as requested.
Great atmosphere delicious food, overall fab lunch.
From arrival to leaving the service and food was superb very pleasant servers would definitely recommend it
21st births day lunch. Fantastic team and made to feel very special.
Front front of house, serving staff, chef, kitchen and bar OUTSTANDING 5 Star.
We will be back soon.
Very nice ..but a bit cramped seating for food and bar could be separated a bit more..other than that ..menu was a bit tight ..but enjoyable..
Food was good but nothing special or anything to write home about, therefore two mains and two glasses of wine = £80, not worth that. Staff skills not quite good enough for the class of restaurant. Didn't offer to help with coat of my mum who is 83....that wouldn't happen in the likes of Rogano or Guy's.
Love the food at the ivy but when you’re going out for a dinner date I don’t want to feel like I’m in a night club with very loud music and people at the bar watching what you’re having to eat . Only once out if 4 visits did We have a 5star experience when out for dinner where we were in the main area downstairs away from the bar and loud music and had a wonderful time . Sad to say that I’m not sure the ivy will be my first choice next time
The staff were really helpful and friendly. You don’t just pay for the good food here but you also get an extremely good service & calming atmosphere.
The restaurant it’s self was very clean and the decor was fab.
Food and service fab. A bit too up close and personal to the tables left and right of us. In fairness, the noise was a table of 6 or 7 drunk women.
We ordered bread and olives to start, the waitress came out with 5 olives and the bread took another 15 mins to come out. And then she brought the mains out straight after they’d sat the bread basket down, at which point there wasn’t enough room for the plates. So we had to cut ourselves a bit of bread quickly so she could take the basket away to sit the mains down. They did take the bread and olives off the bill but the service was nowhere near what we would have expected from a place like The Ivy. The mains were okay, we had the chicken Milanese and chicken salad. Bread was delicious, the best bit, shame we only got to have a wee bit.
Loved it , great vibe with the music upstairs on a Friday night with the DJ playing some chilled out house and the service and food impeccable. My new favourite place to go.
Great food, lovely service. Staff were very kind and attentive and gave good recommendations from the menu. Definitely be back !!
Decor is lovely. Reminds me of the Poirot series. Staff helpful. Food was lovely. Great selection of drinks. Absolutely will return.
Fabulous food in a beautiful setting, excellent service, def be back
Service was excellent food was really nice and the bar staff made an ordinary birthday very special
Excellent ambience and very attentive staff. Food was very good indeed albeit it is on the higher price range which may not suit all pockets.
Partners 40th birthday celebrations continue
A memorable visit for a memorable day. Faultless in every way
I love the ambience of the Ivy. The lunch menu, although not extensive, is really good value for money with delicious food. The service is always good without being overpowering. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
My friend and I had a corner table and we sat for hours chatting, eating and drinking. I thought we would have been asked to vacate the table after a couple of hours but we were undisturbed which was lovely. Staff could not have been more attentive and pleasant. Definitely be back again.
Building is beautiful. Beautiful interior with lots of high quality fixture and fittings and some lovely design. Although food does not match up to this, food came out literally a few mins after ordering, didn't seem like it was being cooked fresh. Spent £112 for two people and was not worth the money at all. I don’t see this place lasting long unless they sort the food out, has to be elevated to match price point and interior.
A gem of a place in the heart of Glasgow. The only time I've ever been asked how I would like my salmon cooked which really impressed me! Food and service and interior decor were fab. Slightly loud music for my liking but I'll certainly be back soon.
We'll worth a visit, booking required to avoid disappointment.
We had a lovely meal to celebrate a family birthday. We had two children with us and they were made very welcome. The staff were friendly and professional and the food was delicious. We would definitely recommend The Ivy.
I have been to The Ivy a few times since it opened. I have had the champagne afternoon tea on 2 of these occasions. I feel like the value for money is similar to other venues in the city centre for the same thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea on my first visit.
However, on my second visit on Sunday 8th March the sandwiches were not quite as good, the bread was stale as if they had been left uncovered for a while. The desserts and scones were lovely as ever.
The staff were busy and we had to try and get their attention (this wasn’t the case on previous visits). That evening I didn’t feel great and the next day I had an extremely upset stomach. Upon speaking with the others that I had dined with I discovered that they had been the same. The only person who wasn’t unwell, hadn’t touched any of the sandwiches.
I contacted the restaurant to inform them of this and have yet to receive any response. I am extremely disappointed as this was a treat to my mum for her birthday and instead left her ill. I held off writing my review to give the restaurant the opportunity to respond but I doubt I’m receiving anything after all this time.
Over priced restaurant with average food. There are better value restaurants in Glasgow.
The restaurant is always busy. The food is varied to suit most tastes. There are two levels and both have busy bars but I found it noisier upstairs. The toilet facilities are upstairs. The staff are very attentive without being intrusive and the place has a nice atmosphere. I consider it a place for special lunches with friends who enjoy treating themselves.
Overall great time. Very impressed with the drink menu and gin that we had. Food was lovely. Service was very over familiar and made an insensitive joke about our order. Waitress did however pick up on the fact that we were their celebrating a birthday which was lovely!
Lovely relaxed atmosphere. We went for the breakfast. Attentive staff and great food. Will definitely be back again.
Food was great and a bit different from the usual.
When you order chunky chips though, I would expect chunky chips not the dregs from the fryer and they weren’t very warm!
Not a great selection of beers either.
Fabulous friendly efficient service amazing flavours in every course
