    We were very disappointed with our experience at the Ivy Clifton, yesterday. Some dishes arrived luke warm and had to be returned, bread was forgotten and one waiter stuck my partners wine bottle right into my glass to refill, when in fact I wasn’t even drinking the same wine. Two members of staff were superb trying to put things right, but our evening had already been spoilt by then. Reading reviews from other recent diners, it seems the Ivy experience isn’t what it was. Standards have definitely slipped. Maybe it’s just really hard to get good staff currently. Let’s hope the Ivy gets it’s mojo back soon. Bristol has lots of great restaurants, so the Ivy needs to up their game or lose regulars.

    We had a great visit, with a competent and friendly waitress who took care of us diligently. The venison tartare was the start of the show, with the chocolate bombe dessert being a close second. My only comment would be that the tables we were at were pushed rather close together and it felt more like I was dining with the strangers next to us than just with my partner, however I appreciate that the rest of the tables appeared to be better spaced. This was our second visit to the Ivy at Clifton and no doubt we will be back for a third.

    First thing we noticed was Waiter wasn’t the smartest. Starter was hanging around before we were served it Didn’t mention loyalty card before paying so missed out on points! Been to a lot of Ivy’s around the country wasn’t impressed by this one The positive was food was same standard Sorry but won’t be back!

    Arrived at 1pm with three friends for a birthday treat. Ordered wine and nibbles and main course. Our waiter just seemed to be going through the motions, which is not the usual service in this restaurant. We had our nibbles and wine, a while later I asked where our main courses were, oh on their way. At 2.30pm I spoke to the waiter again and he said I only called them away 20 minutes ago, they then appeared. We ordered 2 coffees, the Americano turned up, the baileys coffee didn’t, we had to ask again, it turned up 15 minutes after the original coffee. I spoke to a senior member of staff who was apologetic and did offer a dessert and took a couple of items off the bill. I didn’t give the feedback to get this, it was because there was something seriously lacking with the service. I have worked in hospitality and understand the pressures, but every other table around us seemed to be served in a timely manner. I have booked a table for lunch in the 16th December and hope we don’t have the same issues.

    Four of us dining. One meal returned as not cooked well, soggy batter on fish. Took so long to come back the others had finished their meals so cancelled as understandably one did not want to dine alone. Expensive food for what it is. Waiters were very kind and helpful though.

    Sadly disappointed with the overall quality and service . I booked a table for 3 to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We ordered starters which were fine , however we then ordered 2x fillet steaks and 1 x rib eye steak . Asking for medium rare . They arrived and one was rare, the other was over done and the ribeye was chewy . Sadly we had to add fries as extras to make it a proper meal . I then ordered for desert 1 x truffles , 1 x mince pie and Christmas pudding. The truffles arrived and they were around 5 little chocolates in a plain bowl, the mince pies had almost no filling in them and the cream was off and smelt ! Christmas pudding was OK but considering it was my wife's 50th birthday and I had mentioned it on the initial booking it lacked that special touch . Considering I paid over £200 I left disappointed

    Came again last night after loving my visit 2 weeks ago. Last night though, I felt our waiter was acting a little oddly, brought the wrong wine, dropped a glass, then we were charaged £60 for wine when we had ordered a £30 bottle which I even pointed to on the menu. The food was not as good as two weeks ago either, I had a side of brussel sprouts and they were really unpleasant, ( i love brussel sprouts!) Anyhow, its a fantastic place, I love the ambience, the staff are fab, so thankyou, still highly recommend.

    Staff are perfect balance of silver service with warm friendliness. Food is superb and the decor exquisite all the way through to the flower festooned ceiling in the ladies! A little pricey for 2 course festive menu and we didn't get our mince pies 😔 but otherwise we had a wonderful evening, thank you.

    I had the sea bass with mussels, I felt the bass was slightly overcooked and so the edges were dry and felt the whole thing could have been hotter. I had a side of sprouts and chestnuts which were over cooked and had a look and taste of having been hanging around for a while to them. The cheese and walnut souffle for starter and the chocolate bomb for pudding were both a delight and full of flavour and surprise.

    Room was noisy and cold. Waiter wasn’t friendly or welcoming. Went for my daughters 18th birthday. Had alerted restaurant previously to this. No one asked if it was a special occasion or wished her a happy birthday. Waited 45mins for nibbles. After nearly 2 hours decided we wouldn’t bother asking for desert menu, as we weren’t offered one. Really disappointed as it was for a special occasion

    First class experience, we attended as a party of six on a reunion and visiting for the second time after such a good experience earlier in the year. From arriving at reception we received first class attention- staff were instantly friendly, efficient and professional. A beautiful building, decorated impeccably with a relaxed ambiance and every need catered for - I honestly cannot fault a thing.     Visited for my 40th birthday , as soon as we arrived we were made to feel special….. this was thanks to Luke who looked after us and whose service went above and beyond. He arranged a birthday pudding surprise and dessert wine. Which really made my special that extra abit special. Food was amazing as was the cocktails. Big thumbs up.

    We had a very good experience at The Ivy, Clifton. The restaurant is a beautiful room, a former banking hall with high ceilings, and the meal (starter and main) was very good. Service was a little quick between courses but I should have mentioned to slow it when ordering. We will certainly be back!

    The Christmas Afternoon Tea was exceptional with a beautiful ambience. Setting and atmosphere was amazing. Service could have been better as we had to constantly call the waiter and try get there attention than them coming over to check on the table if we needed anything extra.

    On a very cold, wet and windy Sunday, we had reserved a table for brunch to celebrate a birthday. It would appear many other also choose to have brunch as there wasn't a table to spare. Enjoyed our celebration and the surprise was most appreciated. Will certainly return for similar booking and almost definitely a lunch or dinner booking.
