   We live locally and couldn’t be more disappointed! It was full of students (which is fine - my daughter is one) who create mayhem as they buy drinks individually (obvs never heard of a whip) and therefore service was awful. It’s not a dining pub at all and when local football teams came in dripping of sweat it create a nightmare dining experience! Think they should ditch the food and stick to being a student pub!! Which is cool - just don’t suggest it’s good to eat inside there

   Went for the sharing roast for 6 people. 1 chicken which is meant to serve 2-4 and one beef which is meant to serve 2-3. Chicken was small but tasty. Beef was very gamey with a strong almost off taste.

   Very underwhelming Sunday lunch and not cheap! Shame as we’ve been before and had a great lunch but today the meat was fatty, roasties bland and everything felt like it had been sat around for a while. Staff were lovely and very helpful but unfortunately food wasn’t up to scratch.

    We went twice in three days! It was a chance find, near where we stayed. The food was excellent, the beer was really tasty and the staff friendly. It being dog-friendly was a bonus. Would recommend it whole-heartedly!

    We had a lovely meal for Mother's Day. The roast dinner was amazing. The wine was expensive at £10 a 250ml glass (however it is in Clifton so expected it) Very accommodating to our needs. Great service. It was very busy but as we booked it wasn't a problem. Would recommend.

    Nice ambiance friendly staff but there was a major kitchen fail as the roasted aubergine wasn’t cooked and was served with a small spoonful of rice in some kind of thin sauce. The steak on the other hand was good. The aubergine dish was refunded but the evening was ruined I haven’t sent back many meals so wonder what a pub or restaurant would usually do?

    Engaged, young, friendly motivated staff. Good quality and well presented food (Sunday lunch on our visit). Plentiful choices of local beers and spirits. Relaxed casual feel in a cosy traditionally decorated local pub. Quite a few rooms/covers with covered seating in outside area.

    Food wasn’t great, pretty basic for the price and not well presented. Service was a bit chaotic and despite booking through open table there was a lot of confusion on where we were going to be sat and if a table had been reserved. Staff attitude was a bit blasé

    Really enjoyed the meal - good food and nice table for my large group of 10. Would of been nice to have large jugs of gravy with roast as it did say bottomless. Pudding was lovely - crumble was cozy and delicious. Meat was good quality and nice vegetables. Hot chocolate could have been hotter DEFINITELY WOULD RECOMMEDN ****

    Roast dinner was superb, pudding not up to the same standard. Service was excellent and I was impressed that the manager remembered that he owed us a free meal from six months ago when they'd run out of food when we arrived for our booking! Will definitely go again for Sunday lunch.

    Very good in general. I found the beef quite tough in places, but there was a good variety of vegetables though simply cooked. Cauliflower cheese was excellent, and there was a good amount of food for the money.

    A flipping lovely roast seated in the 'garden' under the marquee and heated with patio heaters. We were surprised by the overall cost, but that's just the cost of living these days 😱 It was worth it! Book way in advance for a more cosy experience inside

    Our friends visiting from london and I booked this pub for food weeks ago. Checked out the menu online and everyone was happy. When we arrived it was understandably busy because the rugby was on and we were early. Eventually seated at a table which was totally inadequate. For 6 adults we were sat around a very small table only big enough for 4 people. We were given the menus and there were about 5 or 6 main meals to choose from - 2 of which was a bacon or sausage bap! Nobody came over to see if we wanted to order and I doubt the even realised we had left! The menu outside the pub didn’t reflect what we were given either. Very very disappointing and I doubt we would return and definitely not for food

    Having eaten here in the garden before I did not expect what happened on the day. There were around 4 waiting staff, each not seeming to know who was serving what and who, we were not asked during service if the meals was ok and at the end it took some time for anyone to come back to us. We were sitted next to the clear up area, there was food on the floor and none of the heaters were working, which meant I could not finish my meal as it went cold quickly. Whilst I completely understand the need to rod the drains that had blocked this was directly next to us and no one asked if we would like to move. To charge the same outside, with no heating, no candles etc as someone inside wasn't acceptable

    The service on entering the pub was excellent. Our roast meals were rather cool in temp. and on cold plates. Albeit very tasty. We were told we had half hour left on table, so ordered dessert. One took 20 mins to arrive, the other 30 mins. Had to ask for a spoon with the crumble, which was the poorest crumble I've tasted, ratio of fruit to crumble bad. The sticky toffee pud was just like a sponge cake, no dates or depth of flavour. In fairness to the pub, and because of the long wait the puds were not charged for.

    Booked for a family meal with my parents. Specified upstairs table and they had no tables free, said they might put me on one in the bar which was taken but they'd shoo people off - too low to sit at and too awkward, and the whole bar was playing loud sports, which is my fault for not checking..the pub and staff and service are great and I've had great times there, just couldn't go on this occasion so we went and found somewhere else to eat

    Outstanding Sunday roasts. Beef was very tender and perfectly cooked. Plenty of well cooked potatoes and veg. Celeriac mash a nice touch. Generous portions at a very fair price. Staff very pleasant. Glad I booked before I saw the pub from the outside! Never judge a book by its cover!
