The Melting Pot - Edmonton
Server was the best we have had there
She was quick and helpful
Overall so nice and friendly
Unlike most servers there
Well rounded. It took a half hour after our reservation to be seated, but we were able to enjoy a drink at the bar in that time. Our server was very helpful as it was our first time coming here, she explained how it worked and answered questions well. She also had some very good recommendations for us. The food was delicious, large portion sizes and we were definitely satisfied. The lighting was perfect and we were able to have a conversation at an acceptable volume without many distractions. I would definitely return for another visit!
I was very impressed with everything except having to wait for a table I made reservations for two months in advance
Great service. Relaxing environment and wasn’t rushed to finish the meal.
Firat time there celebrating friends 50th birthday. Sooo good!!! Food was amazing nice relaxed dinner waitress was one of the best I've ever had
Lighting could be turned up, very dark inside the restaurant and hard to see food and menu
This is our second time at the Melting pot and our first experience was splendid. Our server the first time was excellent (forgot his name) so we thought we’d go back.
We had a reservation for 3:30 and I called at 3:29 saying that we might be late because of traffic. We got there at 3:33 but we didn’t get seated til 3:40. There was a large group who got there after us who had a reservation at 3:30 as well but they got seated first, which was okay. We didnt get a server for 10mins, no water or anything. When we got our server, she was nice but was not familiar with their “crave combo”— which included cheese fondue, soup/salad, chocolate fondue, ans a drink, which was perfect just for a quick date. When I said, oh we’re gonna have the crave combo, she looked at me like she did not know what I was talking about. She then admitted that she does not work around that time which made sense. We waited another 40mins to get our cheese fondue. It was excellent as usual except the server kept spilling it when she was mixing it as she seemed rush the entire time.
The salad, strawberry almond, was pretty weak. It seemed like it was just a bagged salad-could have been fresher. The soup, which was the feature for the day, tasted like nacho cheese according to my partner, but I thought it was pretty good. The Yin Yang chocolate fondue was also great.
Finally, when we got our bill, we noticed that the server charged us the crave combo plus drinks separately even though it should have been part of the combo. She fixed it right away but still awkward to ask why we got charged for the drinks when it should’ve been included.
Overall, it was an okay experience. Would go back just for the cheese and chocolate fondue and hopefully a server with better customer service skills and knowledgeable about their menu.
I’m actually very disappointed with our experience. I was so excited to take my boyfriend and another couple out for dessert at the melting pot to show them how great the experience is. I booked reservation even put in the notes that we were only coming in for chocolate. Once the server found out we only wanted chocolate the service went down hill fast. He didn’t take the time to explain how fondue should happen even though we told him the other couple had never been there.
Chocolate came with not enough dippers for four people service was slow to bring more. He didn’t ask if we wanted anything else even though I had been waiting to order a drink
As we still had full plates of dippers and lots of chocolate left he brought the bills didn’t ask how we wanted them just brought separate bills and left.
This was the worse melting pot experience I’ve ever had. I’m left disappointed as this was a night that we were celebrating birthdays and had been looking forward to it for a while
Great food, great staff!
We love this place. We were confused why we got a smaller table and only one pot for our full party but they were so accommodating it was great. Sadly I had put my code for my free birthday strawberries in my reservation and we realized when we got home that we never got them. I guess next time we will have to call to book so they get our notes - we’ll go back of course because we really love it there we were just disappointed up front with our table and then not getting my birthday offer despite putting all the information in the reservation notes - not sure if the notes section actually serve a purpose.
Definitely a great place for an way above dining experience, especially for a romantic night out. Be prepared to spend over $100 for two people eating modestly. Three couple's private booths are amazing.
Understand this is a very upscale place as far as the menus go, so do not go here wanting to get huge portions for decent money. Here, it's about the experience.
Service was slow, 1 full page of caesars on the menu but couldn’t order one cause they were out of Clamato, server very polite, sauces were disgusting. Didn’t fit the good concept. Very expensive!
The ambience is great! Perfect for a romantic dinner. There are 4 courses, by the end of it, you will be full. The lobster and the steak was amazing. The water smelled like chlorine. For the price we paid, I expect when we order wine or beer the waitress would at least offer pour it out for us. The bread was old, the soup tasted like Tostitos cheese dip.
Did not accommodate 6 people well at all. 18 forks in 2 pots. We were constantly loosing our food in the pots. Too much spice on our meat. This should be indicated on menu. Enjoyed bread and cheese and not raw vegetables with fondou and the dessert was way to sweet although the fruit worked well. Can't really go wrong with a salad or soup anywhere even at Subway. This occasion or idea works well with 2 or 4 people. Did not work well for 6 of us. Very expensive for what we got. We can say we did it once but that will be enough for us. Sorry.
We had a great experience!! Service and food were great
The food is always good. It seems like each time we go the portions get less and less. Also they always seem to be out of stuff. This time was a beer and a ingredient for the chocolate. Very disappointing that cheese cake was taken off the dessert platter. You can have it but for a extra charge.
The food was delicious as always and the waiter was great. He had only been serving for a few months and this was his first serving job ever but he was fantastic. Very friendly and we got into a great conversation about Australia.
Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2018's dinning experience was less than par. The service was slow. The lights were turned down so it was darker than normal in the establishment. And, the surrounding tables were loud. This is not a normal for my other experiences at the Melting Pot and I would hope it's a one off. The service was a huge disappointment this time around, as there seemed to not be enough staff to cover all the tables that were booked. Long wait times for all courses. We'd run out of the dippers and have a wait for more. However it did give us a lot of time for visiting.
We had a great time but the servers seemed hesitant to bring more portions. They tended to be less attentive than they needed to be (refill drinks, sauces, portions etc). Price is way to high for the portion sizes $120 for 2 people. More of an experience evening than a real 'dining' evening. We won't go again but were glad we tried it once.
Great experience lots of food, felt a little rushed to be done in 1.5 hrs.
Absolutely love this restaurant and will definitely be going back! Our server Susan has always been fantastic every time we’ve been there. Great job Melting Pot!
I come at least 4 times a year it is so good and very filling
Love the melting pot. Definitely romantic, relaxing and a special dining experience.
Pleasant experience, good variety with a very nice atmosphere. Menu is good, varied options, a bit on the pricey side, but I would return.
Went for a birthday, and the food and service was great as usual. We had a very knowledgeable server who on point just a little busy with a pretty full section. We sat closer to the back where the kitchen was and I would sit there again, as all we could hear was dishes clanging. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for intimate sitting as the other seating is very nice.
Incredible, one of Edmonton's best restaurants. Been here for both group celebrations and intimate dining, well suited for both. I recommend the Melting Pot often to others for memorable occasions. Attentive and accomodating staff.
It’s our annual birthday celebration. Always a great evening and experience. We love it.
Excellant evening with a fantastic hostess in Suzanne.
Excellent food, nice different experience from the norm
Service is unfortunately slow. Otherwise, food is great as always.
The staff was amazing, the food was beyond my expectations. Will be going again soon
Good food and fun experience but had to wait 25 min with a reservation and then they forgot our soup and salad. Pricey for what you get too.
We went to the Melting Pot for our 4 Year Anniversary as neither of us had ever been before. A reservation was made for 8pm. We arrived with a few minutes to spare and were told that things were a little behind and it would be a bit of a wait. We were not seated at a table until 8:45. After being seated, we did not see our waitress for about 10 minutes which at the point we ordered our cocktails. At approximately 9:00 our waitress returned to take our order. We still did not have our cocktails. After ordering our 4 courses the waitress checked on our cocktails and they were delivered shortly after. Our first 2 courses came fairly quickly. At 9:40 we were brought our oil for our entree. We waited an additional 30 minutes for our food to come to the table. After our entree we waited a while for our final course. Unfortunately, we had other plans for our evening that we were not able to attend as we did not leave the restaurant until 11:20.
We did enjoy the food and understood that this was not a fast-paced restaurant however, we were very disappointed with all the waiting between getting there and leaving.
Took a while to get service (we understand it gets quite busy), but for the price you pay to dine here, service should be a little better. Took almost 20 minutes for our server to get to our table and ask us what we wanted to drink. There was a noisy table that was seated about an hour after we got there (we were in a private lovers lane booth) we could hear their conversation better than we could hear our own. Other than that, it was awesome. We will definitely be coming back!
Great food great quality of service. The servers knows their wine and have a great understand of their variety they own. The ambiance music is not what i expected. I would prefer jazz, bleus or classic, but its my own choice.
It was a bit confusing at the beginning, we had 5 different servers coming to our table until we finally had the right one. Then it was fine. Great food and she was pretty nice to us. Will go back.
Made a reservation to celebrate my Dads 50th birthday.
Host was nice. Reservation was for 645. Didn't see a server till 700 who said she would be right with us and left again. Seats were uncomfortable and we were sat next to two crying babies. We would have asked for a different table however there was no-one around to ask and we figured once we moved it would be another 20 minute wait to place our drink order so we decided to leave. I left 3 stars for food and value because the menu was solid and prices fair even though we didn't get the chance to try it. My dad insisted we spend our money and time else where out of fear the service and atmosphere wouldn't improve.
Our server was amazing! Very attentive all night and well informed about the menu. He deserves to be recognized for going over and above the requirements of the job.
We went for our anniversary dinner. It was way better than i was expecting, as I had only ever been there as a larger group and never just a table for 2. There was a separate area for tables for 2 and it was just amazing. It felt like we were the only ones there, as it was very private, but the tables themselves were perfect so you could sit beside your date comfortably instead of across a table. It was quite expensive, but reasonable considering it was 4 courses. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting to go on a fancy date. And the fact that they made us feel very special on our anniversary made such a difference, including glasses of champagne and a little anniversary plate with a candle and everything. Overall the best experience I've had at the melting pot so far.
We went for an anniversary meal. The service and our server were amazing, I can't say enough how great he was. The food was all good but for the $200 bill I honestly feel a bit cheated. The meal was an experience but it was far from a Michelin star restaurant that I would expect to pay that kind of cost at. I do love the idea of all the melting pot has to offer, the concept is amazing however the cost would stop me from ever going back unfortunately.
