The Melting Pot - Edmonton
It was Busy... Father’s Day. No excuse for cheese fondue to come to the table cold. Drinks took too long to come to the table
The experience was really good, up until after the third course. We waited for almost 45 minutes for the chocolate fondue to come out and that was after we had asked for it. Once it was brought out, we were two bites in and the server brought our bill and the debit machine. My boyfriend said ‘we are still eating.’ To which the server apologized and said he misunderstood. He then came back and asked if we would like another fruit plate, to which we said yes and that took almost 10 minutes for it to come. Our reservations were at 7pm and we didn’t see the server for about 15 minutes to take our drink orders. We didn’t get out of the restaurant until almost 10pm. That took way too long and we had other plans after, for which we had to cancel due to time.
After reading some reviews I was a little hesitant to try the melting pot, as it was our first time. We got seated early and didn't have to wait long to have our water glasses filled and drink order taken. Our server Heather was extremely helpful and went through the menu with us. All of our food came quickly and explained. We were offered extra dippers if needed but we found portions very generous. I will recommend the melting pot to friends and will definitely go back!
Great place to eat! The food is worth the cost; you will not come out hungry and it tastes wonderful. The service is also good, very attentive. The ambiance could be a bit brighter but otherwise not an issue.
Omg best place ever , the food is to die for and the atmosphere is perfect!
I was very expensive
Very dark lighting
Very small portions
Servers were difficult to understand
One time experience !
Doubt we will be back
I wish I could give this zero stars. I used to LOVE going to the melting pot, but after last night, never again. It was my brother in law's birthday, so we booked a table for 4. They took us to a table that only had one burner, but because we wanted different things we asked to be moved to a bigger table. The service went downhill from there. We never got asked if we wanted drink refills, we waited 45 minutes for the cheese portion, and then 30 minutes after that was gone our meals came... our desserts never arrived. We asked for them to be taken of our bill and were told that because we ordered the big night out package that it couldn't be taken off. We'd already been there for 3 hours at this point, because of all the waiting. They did give us a card for chocolate fondue for next time, but the back of the card says we must spend 60 bucks to get it... UHHHH my bill was over $200 and we didn't even get what we were supposed to and they want us to spend more to get it next time? Eff that. I will be out the money and the cards are useless because there is NO way I am going there again.
This was the worst melting pot experience I have had.
We were there for 2 1/2 hours waiting 20-30 minutes between courses and didn’t even eat our dessert because the waitress never came back with the dippers. We didn’t get our vegetable dippers for our main course and the drinks didn’t get refilled. When we asked for the bill we were given it immediately and promised the dessert dippers would be right out. After waiting another 15 minutes with no dippers we left. I am very disappointed in the experience. We paid over $250 for our table to only eat part of our meal. The server blamed the service on a new system they were trying out so obviously they have some issues to work through. Also, our meal was dropped off beside our table by a busser and just sat there until our server noticed. We didn’t know if we were allowed to serve ourselves so we sat there looking at our food for a good 10 minutes before the server noticed. I had to ask passing by waiters to get our server because ours was no where to be found and she often wouldn’t come out right away to see us. We had to ask for every part of the meal to be served. Just awful.
Like I said, very disappointed. I have been many times before and had a great experience. But I will not be going back and I will tell everyone not to go there either because of the poor service. Sorry guys. Figure your stuff out.
I go to melting pot often and this was by far the worst service I have ever had at this restaurant and at any restaurant in general. Orders came out wrong, waited 30-40 minutes after finishing courses to get next courses and had to physically go seek out staff to get service. Manager did not address the situation and although we emailed them directly, no one has gotten back to us.
It used to be a very special experience with them blending the fondue right in front of you, but this time it was just plopped down in front of us. My coffee was forgotten and got it only half way through chocolate fondue after asking a couple times for it. It was a special occasion and it didn’t measure up this time.
Took sooo long between orders. They seated us in the bar area when I had asked for restaurant. The waiters seems to be busy visiting behind the bar instead of being food. Was not offered refills on our pop. Very expensive!
We booked a later seating (9:30) waited until 10:20 before we received our first course. By 11:30 STILL no main course, not even drink refills. By this time the restaurant was almost empty. Had to get manager involved. Food was good once we finally received it but will be extremely hesitant to return as it was the second time in a row that the service was slow and memorable in a bad way.
Got to the melting pot and was informed our table was given to another group. The ladies were great and gave us our own private room
The only issue I had was the induction stove was not set high enough and the cheese was cold at first. I preferred them preparing it at the table like they used to do.
Sub par service and food quality for the cost. There were long waits for our food and top ups on drinks. It seemed to be all about the up sell for these guys.
Food was good, service was slow and the waiters did not frequent our table very often. We were well-done each course before the next one was offered.
I would recommend the melting pot to my friends but I definitely would not recommend getting the ultimate romance package, I got majorly ripped off by only getting the flowers and nothing elts the package promised. But the food and service was good
The service was great and the food was fantastic.
We have never been disappointed in the service and food.
We gone every year for our anniversary and they don’t disappoint!
We went to celebrate our Anniversary with a lunch. It was not busy at the time we went which was nice.
Even though it was not busy, we still had to wait a bit longer than usual for our waiter to come after each course.
Dood was good but there never seems to be enough cheese fondue!
The food was great, the service was great and I can't wait to go back!!
Fabulous!!! I don’t know what to say other then it was great!! I’d like to see blinds closed sobthat it was darker because the evening light was shining right in on our table
Booked a reservation weeks in advance for a special birthday dinner. Sat us in the worst area of the restaurant. What is the point of booking a reservation when we could have got a better table if we had just walked in? Clearly on a romantic date and sat next to a screaming child. The restaurant has lovely seating in the back for a more private experience. We were not greeted by our server for 20 minutes. Service was horrible. We loved the melting pot until our last experience. Will not be back.
The food and service was excellent. If I could criticize anything, it is the lengthy time it takes to complete a meal. This can be good for some, but really needs to be set as an expectation that sit down to finish can be 3+ hours.
Loved everything! Especially our server! I such o could remember his name:( only recommendation is to lighten up the place! Our table was extremely dark.
Loved this place. Not your everyday kind of place but great for special occasions!
Thanks so much for accomadating us for our anniversary night. And helping me put together my proposal😁
After three text’s and a phone to co firm our reservation ; After two texts and a phone call to confirm our reservation we still had to wait 15 mins to be seated even through the place was empty at 6pm on Sunday.
Service was slow and unprofessional; drinks take 15 minutes after ordering and the waiter could care a less. He wanted us to do his job by passing down waters to the table- to hand out his dishes and then to help clean the table. Sorry, I was a busboy for years and a professional does not leave dishes for 30+ minutes after the meal is finished so that the customers pile the dishes up for him.
This place has lost it’s charm, attention to detail to make an evening “an event”.
Had to ask front end staff to ask waiter to clear our plates twice and then to request bill at the end. Waiter needs basic training on service- I don’t want to hear that he drank a bottle of Jager the night before! Should I feel sorry for him for being hung over, or should I be impressed that he barely showed up for work.
The only benefit was we had a table of 8 and no auto gratuity! On a $560 bill for 8 people, I still struggled to give $50 and normally for us it would have been an automatic $120.00. I should have given him a lesson and left $0.00
Melting Pot- Please go back to your roots with passionate service and a will to make the over priced evening an event. Until then I won’t be back.
Can be a bit pricey, but you are there for a couple hours at least if you do the 4-coarse. All the food is delicious and the service was great! Nice place for a romantic date- very private tables and dim lighting if that’s your thing.
The food was amazing. My party had fun but for cooking your own food it was so dark in the restaurant we had to keep using our flashlights on our phones to make sure the food was cooked. Way too dark. Also when finished a course we would wait atleast 20 minutes for anyone to clear the plates or refill glasses. Unacceptable for the amount your paying. I want the service to be top notch.
The Melting Pot isn’t a restaurant you do every week. It is a wonderful way to do a special occasion - you need to make sure you are hungry and have time. It’s an experience and lots of fun. The service is entertaining and the food is flavorful.
Just needs quality control. My soup didn’t arrive with my companion’s salad and when it did, it was cold. The mushrooms that came with our meal had soil stuck on them. Not sure I would come back.
Our waitress brought the cheese to the table already made. I thought the whole point was to make it at the table. She also seemed really confused trying to put our order in
A little to dark and need more meat portions we paid for extra cheese however protein for a Hungry man it’s not enough
Taste wise amazing
Unparalleled service, fantastic food, wonderful experience. So nice as it was my birthday and I received a happy birthday treat and champagne. Will be back!
We were there for the kids day out and though louder than usual, the food was excellent and my daughter loved the crafts room!
The staff were fantastic! We were there to celebrate our anniversary and they went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great.
Food was phenomenal and the options available were fantastic.
We had a family emergency just prior to our booking and they were able to accommodate a late arrival. I found some of the beef to be a bit tough. Conversation was hard at a table for 6 as the noise level in the room was a bit high. It is expensive too but we knew that before booking.
Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely go back.
Yes I would definitely recommend the melting pot to a friend but I did not appreciate having to Start my experience at 8:15 and having it end at 10:45 as food was very backed up and service was very slow . I usually dine for 1 hour max with you . But this time was very long and poor .
