There is something special about Calgary. It is different than other Canadian cities. You can feel it when patio season starts, when a chinook rolls in, or when you get a high five from a stranger just after the Flames make the playoffs. It’s a small town at heart.
At its core, The Metropolitan, has always aimed to embody that spirit. Over the past 16 years we’ve grown with the city, for the city; forever evolving in constant pursuit of being the place where Calgarians gather.
Lettuce wraps were served with lettuce leaves no more than half an inch wide for chunks of chicken that were huge. It was tasty but very disappointing as an appetizer you would expect to eat with your hands. I ate it as a salad. The dynamite roll I ordered was unavailable and the noise level in the restaurant was uncomfortable. We had to leave so we could talk. The service was very good but the rest was less than expected.
All good but the reason for the overall low score is the super annoying alarm sound yesterday. Never experienced that before at your place or else. We came to relax and enjoy food and company and we ended up irritated and tired. Bothered my client and myself very much.
Other than that, food and service were very much OK.
The wings came out and were undercooked. While disappointed...it does happen. The error was corrected very quickly. Otherwise was a good experience and value for the dollar.
It is very loud in there, but the decor is very nice. Food was delicious! Would definitely recommend.
I think was hopefully a one off bad experience. Our server was great and she handled to food issues well. She did inform us they have a new chef and are launching a new menu so I'm hopefully it'll be better next time.
Food and service was very good but music was way too loud. We were seated at a booth and still struggled to hear ourselves talk. We asked the server to turn it down, but she pretty much told us nicely that that wasn’t going to happen and she was right. Music blared on.
The food was very good, but the restaurant was far too noisy. You had to yell so you could have a conversation with your tablemates.
Most disappointed with the fact that I was severely overcharged. When I called back the next morning at 11 am to have it sorted out, I was told they would sort it out and call me back. I called back at 4 pm and was told they were too busy to look into it.
When I hadn't heard back by the next day at 12:30 I was told the girl I spoke with left the building. I spoke with the manager, he told me he had heard about what happened, but nothing more. Still waiting to hear back how I am going to get my money back (over $70). Very poor customers service. I won't be back. Shame on you The Met!
For a busy night, the waitress was very kind and was doing her best considering the circumstances. However, the kitchen got both of the orders at our table wrong (ex. Presenting two burger sliders when the menu calls for three in an order).
Great location, good food, great service, excellent table availability.
Food was great. Went for a business lunch and it was so loud I could barely hear my client. I will never do that again, but would definitely go back for an evening out with friends.
Everything was great. Our waitress was perfect! She was knowledgeable, personable, witty (which I admire), came and went with perfect timing. Food was delicious (ahi tuna and snapper) albeit a little pricey. Did not order any alcohol and the bill was $70.
Very nice place but food was expensive and portions were very small. Food was below average for the prices. Service was very poor,having 5 waitresses on staff with about 60 people in the place,service should have been better. I ordered my dinner and a refill on my drink. I got my dinner first and didn't get my drink until after i finished eating.
The meal and service was great, but they now have a DJ every Friday night and it was so loud you couldn’t have a conversation with someone you were sitting beside. We went for dinner at a restaurant, not a bar.
Sarah was a great server. And was amazed how fast the food came out of the kitchen. If a person needed a quick fantastic lunch. This is the spot

My guest was seated at the wrong table for over 20 minutes, while I waited for him at a table I had reserved. The Management did not come over to apologize until requested to do so.
The lady serving us (I believe her name is Ashley) is a great person and very good at her job. She deserves some recognition for the service she gave us.
At one point the music was turned up and made it quite difficult to hear.
The waitresses were able to provide an optional table for better access for senior people. The food was outstanding and delicious. Prices are a little bit expensive considering the quantity of food and in comparison with other restaurants. Suggestion: Get maybe two (2) tables with low chairs to provide an option for senior people. My mother-in-law (92 years old) had difficulties to get her seat. In general terms, the food was excellent and the service was very good. I will recommend the Metropolitan to family and friends.
Going away lunch
Server was great and friendly but food took an extremely long time to arrive. One of my clients joked that the angry shrimp pasta should have been called the mildly irritated shrimp pasta as it seemed bland (possibly because it was rushed after being so late). Server apologized and made adjustments to the bill which was appreciated.

Our server was obviously new to the job. Nice place, decent food and par for the course for pricing. Seating space is great.
It’s way too loud always music is way too much
First off couldn't find my reservation, they gave away my reserved table to someone who walked in and budded in line. Then had to wait while they figured out the table situation when it was already busy. Hostess didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Service very slow. Even though it was an appreciation night of some sort, the constant interrupting of servers while trying to talk was annoying. Food was meh. Overpriced.
Took forever to get our bill to leave.

The lettuce wraps were quite sweet and the chicken was very chunky the salads were great.
Crappy, slow service with clueless staff. Food was ok but nothing special.
I'm sorry but today was not good - Got the Georgia Chicken and the bun was dry and crumbly and the chicken was dry with a very hard crust. Ordered the side caesar as well and it really had zero flavour (hardly any dressing or cheese and leaves were limp).
That being said, had your salmon salad the other day and it was fantastic.
I had the potatoe leek soup at lunch. It was a bad rue with a handful of cube hash browns at the end.

The food was okay but for the price I expected a lot better. Really liked the truffle fries, angry shrimp fettuccine was good but the garlic toast was just cheap toasted bread, and the jambalaya was simply okay.
Always good for a lunch if you don’t have reservations. Menu has changed. Food looked really good but was not that flavourful. Service and atmosphere always top notch. I would still give it a chance and continue going. It may have been a off day.

The service was excellent, however the steaks were not as tender as expected. One steak was slightly overcooked. And there was no salt on the table!
