We are now open Wednesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.
We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.

Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.

The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do.

This is exciting times for the pub which now has a new bar serving real ale straight from the cask. Be sure to check out the website regularly to keep up with the latest events and offers.

    If you are vegetarian, don't bother. I chose a starter of goats cheese and beetroot salad as there was a vegan burger only for main. I am not a vegan. Why do restraunteurs think its the same thing?! I was expecting the salad to be a mains size as everyone else was ordering mains and of course it came out as a starter so it was returned and doubled up the size. Really not what I would have preferred, ie not much imagination. Could have added tomatoes or cucumber etc Think meat and fish eaters liked their meal, although some said it was cold on arrival.

    Food was outstanding and staff were friendly and attentive. The only issue was that we were seated in the Yurt/Tent (despite requesting a table in the main building when booking). This would have been fine but it was open to the garden and as the evening drew on it got colder. It also meant that when smokers stood outside the cigarette smoke blew into where we were seated. Staff did put on the heaters but is remained cold. It was a real shame as otherwise we really enjoyed our visit to the Moody Mare and intend to return

    First visit, though have driven past many times, and was very impressed. The staff were incredibly friendly & even though it looks like it’s very much a ‘locals’ pub we didn’t feel awkward. Food was very nice & good portions & the Scotch Egg I had for starter was especially delicious. We will definitely return 👌🏼

    Been going to The Moody Mare for many years now and last nights food was very disappointing. Garlic bread was soggy, not crisp as it should be. A weak Pimms arrived with no fruit except a lime. The scotch egg was inedible. The yolk was solid, white very firm and the meat part had a very strange taste. It didn't taste, feel or look fresh. I couldn't eat it! Even my rustic chips didn't taste nice. I normally don't leave food so for me to eat about 5% speaks volumes. Our server was very professional, attentive and friendly, as were the other staff. No complaints there. I've always recommended this place to friends and family but for now, I shall not be returning. I am hoping it's a one off!

    Good Service. Good choices on Menu. Accessibility not good for those with mobility issu s. Toilets could do with a good clean. Thick dust on radiators. Skirting’s and floor grubby. Hand towels seen better days.

    Was a little disappointed as I booked online for the tipi but when we arrived it did not ope on a Friday morning, have to say the staff were wonderful & very polite but it was a Shame as I had told my friends about that tipi . Otherwise it was a lovely lunch .

    Wow. We made one mistake, we ordered the charcuterie platter for 2 and some cheesy garlic bread. An hour later we were still eating! So much food and really so very, very good. We were hoping the main courses would have been small, but no. My rack of ribs was bigger than the plate and twice as thick as most I have encountered. Ditto the chicken supreme and the sea bass. None of us finished! Then we had no room for dessert, which was a shame. The staff did however bring up the birthday cake for my wife that they had kindly hidden for me, singing happy birthday and candles lit. What a night, what superb staff and management. Thank you all!

    Had dinner with my husband on Wednesday evening. We were welcomed by the friendly gentleman at the bar and though he was busy his welcome made us feel comfortable. We were allowed to change our table to a quieter one away from the bar. The service from the waitress was wonderful, always with a smile and very attentive even though it looked like she was the only person waiting the tables. We both ordered the sea bass which was delicious and warm and enough on the plate for our hungry stomachs. Really enjoyed our meal at Moody Mare and would visit again definitely!

    My wife and I booked a last minute Sunday lunch/dinner. We were seated in the Tipi which was a very nice setting and a bit different from a normal pub restaurant. They had a decent drinks selection and menu I had the roast beef and it was good, meat a little past medium which for me is a little too much, potatoes fluffy and good girlie and 4 veg so good My wife had the Seabass and it’s was tasty, maybe too many crushed potatoes. Didn’t have room for puddings but again nice selection

    Nice place to visit with the staff being the best part, they were friendly, courteous and efficient all making us feel very welcome. Attentive without being overbearing. The tribute act was.….ok, just about as expected. The food was just ok, we had Scampi which was tasty and plentiful if a little overdone and ironically we also has ribs which whilst cooked could have done with longer cooking as they had to be cut off the bone rather than fall off and lacked a little flavour. (Big portion though) The menu is limited and has not changed in a while, could do with a couple of changing specials to entice us back more often but we will be back. Overall a nice venue just in need of a few tweaks

    Local to us and only recently discovered. A quiet evening with a new waitress looking after us. Good selection of food. Good service until the point of leaving when we needed to search out staff to make payment.

    Excellent food at a great price - Sunday roast with ample meat and veggies. Found us a fab quiet table for humans and dogs. Service was excellent! Very friendly and accommodating. Thoroughly recommend and will be going back soon.

    Food was awful really awful. The outside tipi was on a hill so we had to move table and even then wasn’t great. Red Wine was to warm and not a room temp which made it taste awful. Did I mention how awful the food was. I won’t ever be going back there (sorry)

    Friendly welcome by host, shown to table and ordered drinks. Sunday lunch was very nice served on warm plates, thumbs up for that. Overall an enjoyable couple of hours.

    We visit here regularly and had a family get together for 9 of us. The waiting staff were superb. courteous, friendly and efficient. We had a varied mixture of food with some of us having the Sunday Roast which was very good indeed. 2 of us had the Cod and Chips, never seen a larger portion of fish in my life!!! :) Well done to all for a great lunch on what was a very busy day. We look forward to our next visit.

    Lovely meal and great service. Only criticism the floor in the teepee seems to have dropped on one side since we last visited, so the table on a slight slope. But still enjoyable.

    Everyone enjoyed their meal. I opted for the Cod in batter, unfortunately I am not a massive fan of batter, preferring to have a very thin beer batter layer against a thick fish content. Unfortunately our very nice waiter’s idea of a thin batter was different to mine, and the fish was on the thin side. So that didn’t go down well with my stomach! Don’t let me put you off, others preferring the greasier thicker side of their batter would say different! Others in the party had pork belly and the ribs, and my father-in-law, whom had the pork belly, said it was the best he’d had. We brought our dog and they seated us at the end of the bar area, which was cosy , our dog not getting much experience from eating out as we so rarely do. The waiter and waitress were lovely, and very understanding of our slighty nervous labrador with his louder than normal intermittent bark!

    An extensive menu to choose from, the size of portions didn't leave you hungry and the service was good throughout the evening. Have eaten here a number of times, both inside & in the tipi. Highly recommended for all occasions.

    Second time at the Moody Mare, but first time eating there. All the staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Good atmosphere, mix of families and couples. Food was excellent, we all had a Sunday roast and the meats, vegetables and Yorkshires were perfect, very much a home made taste and presentation. Good choice of desserts and again all excellent. Nice lattes to finish. We hadn’t seen the tipis before and had a quick look in. What an amazing space. Definitely recommend a visit.
