Drift Cafe & Bistro
Located in lower Gibsons on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Drift Cafe & Bistro offers a constantly changing menu of fine West Coast cuisine.
In the summer months our patio is open and our guests can take in incredible views of Keats and Bowen Island as well as the Coast mountains and Salish Sea while enjoying the fresh local fare.
Large groups are welcome, but require a phone call to reserve as we have limited seating - 604-886-5858
Fantastic bistro. Love everything about it, not the least of which is the view!
Drift is always our first choice all year long, especially for brunch. Excellent food and a fine ambiance for lingering over good conversation. - KL
It was a birthday dinner and we were both very satisfied with our 3-course meals. Service was friendly, prompt and unobtrusive.
The Drift is a charming, intimate room overlooking Gibsons Harbour. Great service, great food
Great service, fantastic food and quaint atmosphere
Absolutely amazing! Food was fabulous, very nice touch to meet the chef. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone
Always consistently great food and awesome service. Stephanie is lovely an very accommodating. We always have a wonderful time at the Drift!
Was a very pleasant evening dinner , mid week. Too bad they were out of mussels - but everything else was good. Would return again for sure
Lovely experience, knowledgeable and efficient service, delicious food. Only small note is it was almost too quiet. I’d just like to have a conversation without worrying about everyone else in the room in on it so perhaps some quiet music (not yell worthy) or a cracking 🔥, something to muffle others table convos.
We had a lovely dinner at Drift - such a gem! The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere small and intimate.
The food was delicious. We both had the 3 course dinner- only different and they both were excellent. I wish the weather had been better so that we could’ve enjoyed the view
We always enjoy going to the Drift, the food is delicious, the service is awesome and staff is friendly. They have a good selection of wines and local beers. The patio is absolutely gorgeous, overlooking the ocean and Keats Island. Thank you Stephanie & Tim 😊
The salmon and seafood stew were amazing, the chef is very creative with his use of ingredients making the dishes very special! Highly recommend for excellent food as well as a beautiful setting!
Very relaxed, fun restaurant with a unique menu and great service.
Excellent food, service and ambience on the outside patio.
We love this restaurant. Pleased to find such a gem in a small town! Food perfect (with exception flank steak, somewhat overdone; no where near as nice as the hanger steak we had previously). Servers and kitchen very kid-friendly for our toddler and baby. View from deck is beautiful.
Brought 4 guests for the first Time
Everyone liked their food very much
Portions a bit on the Small side
Ordered 2 pavlovas and had to take them with us as it took 20 min and some were catching ferry
We were all extremely disappointed as it was not a true Pavlova and no whip cream ❗
I would have sent them back if we had still been at restaurant
2 guest were from new Zealand home if Pavlova
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. We were celebrating an anniversary last weekend and were made to feel even more special. A big thank you to all the staff that worked that night!
Food was outstanding. Service was great until we ordered dessert. It seemed the kitchen got busy and we were left for 45 minutes waiting for our dessert to appear even after finishing our coffee. Sadly, our waitress did not follow up with us and we couldn’t track anyone down for sometime to alert them to the issue. Would definitely allow the restaurant a second chance should we be in the neighbourhood again.
A special place in the summer when the large deck with a view of the ocean and nearby islands is available. Cozy in the winter months. Outdoor heaters and blankets for the deck when aporopriate. The food is excellent with limited choices. Two entrees with wine and one shared salad and one desert just over $100.
Perfect from beginning to end!
Beautiful view, great atmosphere, the food and wine were amazing the duck confit and the chocolate brownie are to die for. Would highly recommend this place
Everything was great ! We were on the patio and the view is just amazing ! Food and wine were great as well
The location of this restaurant is well known to locals in Gibsons but even they are impressed with the views from the deck which are stunning!
Unfortunately, even though they are on Open Table, one is greeted as a walk in because the staff does not have access to it. Luckily we were able to have a table on the deck as the inside dining section is virtually empty on a nice evening. Since they don’t look at the reservation data, they had no idea it was my husband’s 70th birthday so it was not acknowledged.
The food was great: pork belly and duck confit were outstanding. Dessert pavlova would have been better eaten 12 hours earlier.
Staff is essentially competent but there were significant gaps in service and we did not really feel valued as local diners.
It was very nice.
Would have given 5 stars but the tuna was too salty. Everything else was great.
I think we caught it on a too busy night. My steak was wet and bland and our appetizer of salmon rillet was reminiscent of canned salmon salad. I loved the ambience, service and wine selection and would give them another shot.
Ordered from the new Summer Season menu - perfect.
Well thought out menu
Flavorful, well prepared food
Knowledgeable wine guidance, very good pairing capability
Friendly attentive unobtrusive service
Really great menu! Staff are friendly and informative. Cute atmosphere. Awesome view on the patio!
Drift is a charming, well run, little gem with a gorgeous view. The food is delicious and we will definitely come again. We were particularly impressed with the service.
Very good food and friendly atmosphere. It's a small restaurant so you sometimes meet and engage with other patrons. I've recommended this restaurant to mNy people and always good experience
Another great evening at Drift!
The food, service and ambience were all on point. Tim and Stephanie, owners, take the time to chat with their guests, which makes our experience comfortable, and wanting to return.
Make sure you make a reservation, because it's a small, intimate setting. Great for special occasions or a nice night out.
We had a wonderful time at Drift. We went with two elderly people and they enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Everything we ate we enjoyed including the lamb, ling cod, mussels, vegetables, and all the desserts. We sat inside which was lovely but I look forward to going back and sitting on the gorgeous patio. I have had brunch at Drift before and that was delicious but it was my first time for dinner and I would highly recommend it to my friends!
We celebrated our 35th anniversary at Drift. From start to end, it was great.
The warm root salad was very tasty,as was the rest of the meal. Tim, co owner, was busy but attentive. We met Iggy, the chef, and were able to tell him how much we enjoyed the food. Great for gluten free people too.
We'll be back!
Food was not tasty - bland and overpriced. Service was okay, but somewhat slow given the small number of tables.
I picked this place for my husband’s birthday. It was also the first real date we have had since our baby arrived. It was absolutely perfect. Our server (Co owner I believe), was absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcome and cared for. The drinks were perfect and the food exceeded our expectations! Some of the best we have ever had! The place itself couldn’t be more quaint and perfect. The view, the restoration of the old building, and how intimate it was, we loved it all. Hoping to be back to visit soon and will definitely be going there for more meals!
Always excellent food brunch and dinner!
Good place for foodies!
Pork shank was melt in your mouth!!!
Food was amazing.
The 3 course dinner proved to be great value.
Every plate was perfectly balanced and tingled all the sensations.
The highlights were the Pork Shank, and the Scallops on Bacon Risotto, but really, everything was an experience.
This place is gem! Great food, great service, and an amazing view!
