   This was our first visit to the Old Jailhouse. We had requested a more private room and they accommodated us with a lovely jail cell adorned with a beautiful chandelier. We ordered a variety of items from the menu and each one was better than the next! Our party of five also tried many of the craft cocktails, and they were wonderful! Some of our favorite items included the fish dip, the croquettes, the beet salad and the Moscow mules. We were also able to take advantage of their great happy hour. The ambience, and the history of the restaurant are just an added touch! We loved it and will be back!

   Great place to eat! The restaurant has maintained alot of the original characteristics of the old jail, which makes it a unique experience full of charm. Food is original and delicious, nothing like the cookie cutter chains. Original cocktails and excellent service are the finishing touches. Highly recommended.

   disappointed in the new menu. if you can't eat cheese/cream sauces, it will be a very limited menu. My food did not have much flavor.

    Very underwhelmed. The brussel sprouts appetizer was as hard as a rock and no flavor. The pork tenderloin skewers were very dry. Fortunately the manager was called over and she removed pork from the tab. My salmon quinoa salad was ok, granted it was a salad, but it still felt off for the quinoa to be cold. The mango chutney added a wonderful flavor. The staff were all very friendly. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back.

    Taylor was our server and was excellent! Very attentive and made sure everything was well taken care of. Reservations were easy to make and they responded positively to our requests ! The building is really neat. We ate our meal in a jail cell

    This was our first time in Sanford and our first time dining at The Old Jailhouse. Everything was outstanding! Pricey, however, you get what you pay for, and we will return.

    Don't believe they were ready to actually start serving at 12:00 noon. Took one hour to get food after ordering and there were not that many customers. Also many dishes were not available at opening time because they didn't have all the ingredients prepared. Once the food family came it was good but more staff should have arrived prior to opening to have everything prepared.

    Ordered the empanadas and they came cold in the middle, food was pretty bland and overpriced. Didn’t get all the dishes ordered. Drinks were good but probably won’t be returning

    We’ve dined here 2x in the last month with friends, and I have to confess the food experience has been inconsistent. Our visit earlier this month, the burger my husband ordered was just not good. My salmon was over done and dry. However the Brussels sprouts remain excellent. This last time I tried the pork tenderloin - again the meat was inconsistent - some pieces on the skewer were tender and moist while the others were dry and chewy. Our waiter the earlier time this month was just awful - forgot to get my salad to me before my entree and then insisted I eat it because it was done in the window for him to bring me with my salmon. And he didn’t take it off the bill. Our waitress last night was very good however and even shared some of the history of the building with my friend as it was her first time there. Overall inconsistent.

    Yesterday was our first time visiting this restaurant. We walked right in and were seated with our OpenTable reservation and got our waters and wine/cocktails shortly after! We both got the croquettes for an appetizer and if you love truffle oil, you’ll be in heaven like I was! We both ordered the NY Strip dinner meal and everything was EXCELLENT. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the mashed potatoes and brussels were super tasty! We even got dessert which we had NO room for (lol) and the berry cheesecake did not disappoint. Our service was fantastic and the atmosphere was really neat. I literally cannot wait to come back to this restaurant ASAP!!

    We sat in a very quiet, jail sale with a long and varied history. enjoyed that we could hear our own conversations as we ate our delicious meals. Scrumptious appetizers; calamari, homemade pretzel (delicious cheese sauce), and the Bibb salad. We had perfectly cooked hamburgers with divine crispy fries and the steak tips, tender and delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try the brunch.

    Love the setting and our wait staff was fabulous! Lucy was outstanding. The kitchen delivered our salmon dish being a little Room temp and the green beans were old in appearance or very overcooked with high vinegar levels. They did correct it all which was then the quality it should have been to start with. Ribeye was just ok. Again, Lucy was great and then at had nice cocktails, too.

    The croquettes were delicious! Love the truffle flavor. The pork was good but nothing special could’ve had more flavor. They were out of two of the items that really caught my eye. The ambience was great definitely…Service was a little to lack for me..I would give it another try

    We love the Old Jailhouse. Good food and amazing craft cocktails. Our waitress, Sierra, was lovely and very attentive. The food is always good and today was no exception. I was feeling basic and just had a burger but even that is elevated with an onion jam and flavorful beef mix.

    I took my parents to this restaurant for lunch. We enjoyed our meals - tenderloin skewers and chicken winner lunch. My dad said his was outstanding and that’s unusual for him to say. He especially loved the potato’s that came with the tenderloin. My mom loved the sauce on the tenderloin. We shared a raspberry cheesecake and it was one of the best desserts I have had in awhile.     We had a lovely Valentine’s Dinner in the “solitary” jail cell. What fun! Service was great and the food was exceptional. We had oysters, beet caprese, gnocchi and salmon. Each were excellent. We also had an espresso crème brûlée. Fantastic. We also had a bottle of the house bubbly which was an excellent value. Will return.

    Dining on a Thursday evening we were promptly seated in a small room with one other couple who left shortly after we arrived. So basically a private dining room. Our waiter Tres was courteous & helpful. Portions were generous.
