   Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, everything was delicious and Pepper was the BEST server! She made so many amazing recommendations and just overall elevated the dinner. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

   We enjoyed the patio which highly influenced our opinions of atmosphere and noise. It is a charming brick and wood aisle of fans and enjoyment vs cement and air conditioning. Service was great and even allowed to sample wine before purchasing. Food is eclectic and heavy on the hand of spice. Kale salad is huge but has a kick. Fried octopus is not for the faint of you use in fire either. Gumbo was heated , heavy and needed more veggies, rice and shrimp instead of sauce. Parsley or something to brighten the heaviness would have been welcomed. The whole flounder was delicious but enough for two and again just some herbs or green accompaniment would lighten the overwhelming continuation of one big flavor. This is a place you can share as it appears ala carte. I would definitely return. The kitchen is evolving and it's uniqueness will continue to find its own way.

   Our service was great and Patty was wonderful. My feedback is specific to the food selection. The entrée's are very small in portion sized related to the cost. Example, Lobster roll with fries is $44 and it literally was a quarter loaf of brioche and a single scoop of lobster. I took one bite with a fork and that was all of the lobster filling. My son in law had the mahi mahi at it was a 3x3 in piece of fish. Cocktails were great but just be prepared for very little proteins for the money. Valet parking is a mess, did not appear that they had a system to address this.

    We celebrated our anniversary here and had the most wonderful time! Everyone was so kind and welcoming and the food was fantastic. This is definitely one of our new favorite spots. Garth was our waiter and he was absolutely wonderful!! He made the meal that much better and genuinely enjoyed his work which made our night lovely. Only great things about The Optimist!

    We love The Optimist in Atlanta so wanted to try the Nashville location. What a terrible experience. It took 20 minutes to get a drink, 40 minutes to get our appetizer, and over a hour to get our main course. Food was ok, but the experience was ruined by the poor service. I would not go back.

    Food was excellent but it took way to long to get Drinks from the bar (30 minutes) and it took close to 45 min to get Apps. Was not waiters fault. They need to up there bar and kitchen service, but food was excellent.

    We love The Optimist! Great seafood options This time we had a selection of oysters, hamachi crudo, kale salad, lobster roll and the redfish dish. Our favorites were the kale salad and redfish. We skipped the ceviche this time because we were ordering so many other things, but would order that next time instead of the hamachi. Cocktails were great too.

    We had the best time! We got the refuge with lots of shrimp, lobster, dips, and we even got to pick our oysters! Chelsea our server was amazing as well. Definitely recommend!

    Food was very good. Solid food. Service was fine. Slow. They serve bottles of red wine chilled ice cold. It took forever for it to open up. We drank less than half a bottle bc of it. Don’t order red wine.

    One of the BEST dining experiences in Nashville. Everything was 5 stars -celebrated husband’s Birthday with our daughter and her partner. Fresh is THE word-beginning with the bread rolls and ending with the dessert surprise! Worth every penny and will definitely be back.

    We enjoyed ourselves and there wasn’t a overall bad experience, but it wasn’t great either, it was just okay. The portions are small and honestly, it’s overpriced for what you get. Sorry, just my honest opinion. We’re locals and we try to sneak out and try places so we can give our Airbnb guests recommendations. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend them at this time.
