"The first Cottage Inn restaurant opened its doors at 512 East William, Ann Arbor in 1948. This restaurant has had the distinction of being the first restaurant in Ann Arbor to serve pizza. The current ownership acquired the building at 512 E. William in 1961 and it remains the company's flagship today. The restaurant's first major expansion took place in 1975. The restaurant was remodeled again in 1980 and 1987. In 1993, a major renovation of the restaurant was done to include the second floor, which increased the seat capacity. This renovation also provided banquet room facilities. The restaurant offers a diverse menu of Italian and Greek dishes as well as their pizzas.

NOTICE TO GAME DAY GUESTS: We made a reservation on Open Table 14 days in advance (earliest Cottage Inn allows reservations to be made). When we arrived, we were told reservations are NOT accepted on Game Days even tho we had a confirmed one. Luckily a very competent hostess seated us in bar and ensured we had excellent service.

Great meal after dropping kid off for the year. Had only ever had their pizza from their chain stores so we were surprised at the big choices on the menu. I had a pizza and my wife had a pasta dish and both were excellent.

A University of Michigan-Ann Arbor tradition. The pizza is superb and the salads crisp and fresh. The original has a very college town vibe and friendly efficient staff. A great place to take your college (or younger) kids.

Very pleased that entres came with soup, mashed redskin potatoes, and a nice portion of fresh broccoli. Table was extremely close to the bench seating so that made it a bit uncomfortable, but on the whole, a wonderful dinner.

The Original Cottage Inn is a fun and charming restaurant. The food and service are excellent. I enjoyed the chicken artichoke pasta. Others liked the seafood trio and the lasagna. Salads are always very good. It's a great place for casual dining and Italian food.

Cottage Inn started as a primary take out pizza restaurant ( during my college days ) and expanded into one of the best classic Italian cuisine restaurants in the Ann Arbor area. Clam chowder is a personal favorite.

restaurant was maybe 25% full, but the three of us (ie., not a big party) were seated in the back, right next to the kitchen. Waiting staff walking by our table constantly, dishes clanking, isolated table. Horrible experience

We had a fabulous meal at the Original Cottage Inn. We visited after graduation and all had great meals. The pizza and pasta was delicious and our waitress was so kind. It was a perfect place to celebrate. The pomegranate martini is so yummy!

Decent food but not everyone in our party received their food at the same time. One order was delayed 10-15 min. and arrived when everyone else was half done. Appeared to be short-staffed and as a result, service was poor.

Coffee was cold, never offered a refill. Service was slow and seemed the waitress didn’t know the menu, chef came out and asked a specific question about one of our entrees. I ordered the chicken with goat cheese, broccoli was cold (menu said broccolini but it was reg broccoli, also said with garlic butter, there was non) mashed potatoes were barely warm and chicken was luke warm. Cottage Inn is one of our favorites, this visit was disappointing.

Went here with a party of 4 when dropping our son off at UMich. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. They were short-staffed but our waitress was super friendly. We appreciated that she took the time to tell us they were short staffed. Despite that, we don't believe we had to wait too long for our food. Appetizer and drinks came out quickly. Pizza was great. The Eggplant parmesan was delicious. Good portions. Good prices. I would go here again.

We could not keep our reservation. There was no parking meters available for miles. We were unable to keep our reservation because of Ann Arbor’s poor parks ng conditions.

Our server Justin was attentive and wonderful. The food was fantastic, kitchen was very fast and our drinks were out quickly as well. Definitely a nice spot to enjoy some pizza before a night on the town.

the wait staff was less than expected. We asked what came with the Easter Brunch and got information that indicated that drinks were included (coffee, pop, Mimosa). This was a unexpected increase to our bill. She provided no refills on coffee. Did not bring us items asked for and there was no salt or pepper on the table. And we could not ask for it. Because of these issues the bill was high in comparison to the food we ate and thus we will not be back.
