The Pacific Restaurant - Hotel Grand Pacific
Featuring Vancouver Island "farm to table" cuisine complimented by an extensive selection of local and international wines, The Pacific Restaurant's menu provides a feast for the senses.
Our West Coast Afternoon Tea service is served from 12:30pm – 3:30pm daily. Our afternoon tea takes its inspiration from our wild west coast while using local, sustainable ingredients and features local organic tea from Silk Road Tea Company. Children's tea menu available. Reservations are required, please note in the comment section that your reservation is for tea and note number of adults and children.
We came for the Early Bird dinner which we like both for the price and the smaller quantity of food; but the Schintzlle was a little tough. We were a little disappointed. Everything else was lovely.
Everything was lovely for our West Coast Afternoon Tea and the Hotel Grand Pacific but the service stood out the most as it was exceptional. We were completely surprised and delighted by the level of service that we received, our server was knowledgeable, attentive, professional and friendly. The afternoon tea was a fantastic experience and we really enjoyed ourselves. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Our server was really slow with our order and he wasn't a very friendly individual. It was our first time at the restaurant and it wasn't a very good first impression. Our server also forgot to discount our parking pass on the bill as well.
Valentines romantic getaway for one.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We found the menu boring. the wine list was ok. the service was good. the atmosphere and decor felt very old. The live music was excellent.
The view from the window was great, but the inside definitely felt like a hotel breakfast room. The server was efficient and made sure to check in on us often. My food came out burnt the first time, but the server had the kitchen fix it right away. It would be nice is they had a couple vodka based cocktails on the menu because most of the flavours were quite bitter, but this may just be a winter trend. The table bread was amazing though and I would come back just for that.
Dine around experience forces you to try things you would not normally order. Fondue assortment was great for all three courses. short rib was short of sauce and sides could have used some vegetables. No one left unsatisfied and had an enjoyable evening.
The Pacific Restaurant provided my friend and I with a great Dine Around Town experience. The food and ambiance was great and the service outstanding.
I had exemplary service, all staff were extremely attentive. The view was lovely, the food even better. I’ll definitely return.
Fixed menu selections for dine around week. Tasty. Well presented
My boyfriend and I came here for the Dine Around and we got a late seating at a busy time, and while we waited for our table at the bar they gave us a free drink. When we ordered our food, it took awhile for it to come- although my boyfriend and I didn’t mind at all and we’re not in a rush- the manager and waiter would stop by and apologize. When our mains came, the manager came by and told us we had been so patient with the long wait and said our meal was on them and we didn’t have to pay! We were so grateful but not expecting that at all! It was very nice of them. We appreciated it, although to us the wait had not been a big deal.
Thank you again Pacific!
The dine-around fondue was amazing with the wine pairings. We highly recommended it.
Fabulous place for afternoon tea in a relaxing yet elegant setting. Afternoon tea menu was excellent for a reasonable price.
Our "Tea" at the Hotel Grand Pacific had been something my Aunt and I had really looked forward to as we were spending Christmas in Victoria. We booked for Christmas Eve, when we arrived, we were told a message had been left for me at my "home" phone telling me that Gluten Free was not an option. I accepted that, said it would be fine, we were seated, waiter was pleasant, and the actual "chai tea" that I was served was excellent, with steamed milk, I thought this would be great. But when the "Tea" on the trays arrived, it looked, quite frankly, like it had been "pre-made", not fresh. All of the items on the tray were cold, which scones and croissants should not be, the plates themselves were ice-cold, clearly from sitting in the fridge, and the bread was actually hard on the outside of the sandwich...it was really bad!
We expressed our disappointment to a very sweet waitress, who took it back to the kitchen. We were going to choose something from their regular menu, but decided to just go. Not at anytime did a Manager come and extend an apology to us. We had been so disappointed, and expressed as much, and yet no one had thought to come and tell us how sorry they were, which proved to be even more disappointing. Would not recommend.
We celebrated my hubby's 40th birthday with a three course fondue meal...his favourite! So glad we found somewhere nice to dine.
The meal was average. Was expecting more.
We went here for High Tea and it was every bit as good as the Empress. Great find, will go here again.
My wife and I had a very nice time. The food and tea were excellent. Our waitress was very nice and polite as well as the other staff members. The restaurant was clean and the decor is nice. It has big windows to let in the light. The tables were spaced out enough so you didn't feel crowded.
We would recommend afternoon tea to our friends and family at the Hotel Grand Pacific.
My partner and I went here for high tea. The service was fantastic and the food was great. The server took the time to explain all the food on each tier and how the service works. It was a really fun experience. We both enjoyed it.
Loved it! Maddy was fantastic, the food was fantastic. It made for a lovely date night.
The Breakfast was okay. Table service cud have been a little better, Had to ask for everything juice , tea, coffee and for refills. If yr going to serve beans heat and serve them seperatly. do not mix them with eggs or potato. Do them Irish breakfast style. No waffles. no pancakes only french toast. Maybe we got there too late 10.30AM. Otherwise it was ok
I visited the restaurant for breakfast. I was very impressed with how the staff handled food allergies, particularly peanuts and tree nuts. While they have some tree nuts on their menu, I was ensured by one of the chefs that they could accommodate non-contamination for a breakfast reservation. We were able to make a reservation with a note, and they were able to accommodate no problem with very professional service. The food was also delicious, it was a wonderful way to start our day. Thank you to the wait staff and kitchen staff for being so helpful and knowledgeable, and for ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience.
Afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. Lovely food beautifully presented. The server was knowledgeable about the tea, which was from Silk Road Teas. Easily the equal or better than the Empress, without the hype or noise. And half the price.
We had High Tea in the afternoon which was so great and enjoyable that we returned that evening for drinks and dinner. The High Tea was absolutely one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The tenderloin steak that evening was superb. Dessert was artistically presented as well as absolutely delicious. At both meals the service and ambiance were superb.
I had not been to this restaurant for a long time so I was excited to go. However, the breakfast buffet on June 11, 2017 was definitely underwhelming! I would not recommend it for any special occasion. It was ok, but not exceptional in any way.
Afternoon tea was outstanding, as we're the waiters!!
Very enjoyable experience. Wonderful.
Great service but thought the afternoon tea was a bit lackluster. The food was good but not much fanfare to the afternoon tea if it's marketed as that.
If you're going to have afternoon tea in charming downtown Victoria, the tea service at HGI will not disappoint. In fact, if you're anything like me, you're likely to be blown away. Ambience is cozy and intimate, a great spot for quiet conversation with plenty of room to stretch out. (This is especially hard to find in busy downtown Victoria where restaurants are swarmed with tourists year-round.) This atmosphere allows for friendly and attentive service; the hotel is grand and proper but not pretentious. The Restaurant uses organic Silk Road tea, a local Victoria tea company and community staple. I chose the Earl Grey for my tea pairing and the flavour was unprecedentedly smooth and potent, as Silk Road does not use any artificial flavours or sweeteners [in this blend]. Lastly, I cannot understate the quality of the food - it was truly impeccable. Unlike at the Fairmont, desserts are made-to-order and you can taste the care put into your experience with every bite. The HGI pastry team delivers afternoon tea classics that are all perfectly buttery, flaky, decadent. Pescatarians with sweet teeth (like me) will love this tea service for its 'west coast' menu; the savoury tier leans toward seafood offers as opposed to meat, and the flavours transition lovingly from buttery and rich chocolate to sweet, fruity dessert offerings at the top. You get a 3oz portion of house-made chantilly cream with your middle tier and it tastes like heaven in a glass; you'd be crazy not to finish it. The atmosphere, service, and quality of tea and food together set the stage for what afternoon tea should be: savoured slowly. All for a steal at $44/pp... you really can't go wrong!
We were actually there for their Early Bird dinner special.
We come often. The room is modern, attractive, well run and the meal is well selected and prepared and a real bargain.
The experience is well liked by retired folk like ourselves and includes a three-course dinner with tea or coffee which would sell for around $23 in a similar setting elsewhere for $18.
The staff and service are great as well.
We went for high tea, celebrating our anniversary. Our server was new and lets us know she was working on her English to describe some of the amazing things that came out. My wife was working on her French, so it ended up being the perfect match, and better service could not be achieved on any level...often, my tea was refresfed for me before I could do so myself...I felt very important here. The hotel is beautiful as well.
Great restaurant conveniently located in the hart of Victoria, BC. If reservations for the Afernoon Tea are made through Open Table, since this is a premade menu, make sure to specify the number of adult vs kids menues, otherwise the restaurant staff will assume it's all for adults.
We went for Early Bird dinner. With older members in our party, it is nice to have the option. Price was excellent. Limited entrees, of course, and one in party had to go to main menu. Everyone was happy with their order although the lemon chicken was difficult to eat from the big bowl. All meals were satisfying and tasted good. We were pleased with the fish and chips and the carrot -ginger soup was lovely. Waiter seemed new to restaurant but was attentive and did a nice job. We asked a lot of questions about the offerings. We have told our local friends and are planning a return visit the next time we are in Victoria (about every 3 months). The Pacific Restaurant is our new "preferred" restaurant--especially with the Early Bird menu. Tables spaced so you aren't having to move your chair to accommodate the wait staff or the other diners--how relaxing. A number of tables occupied near us yet the noise level was quite low. Cheerful greeting on our arrival and we liked the holiday decorations everywhere. Very easy to get a cab for our return to our place.
We went to the Pacific Restaurant for their West Coast Afternoon Tea experience and really enjoyed ourselves. The food and teas were delicious, but our waitstaff, Timothy and Susan, really took the experience over the top.
If you want an excellent Afternoon Tea experience, feel free to skip the other high priced teas at other hotels and head to The Pacific Restaurant.
We really enjoyed the Thanksgiving Dinner menu the food was great and the portion sizes were fine. I felt that the drink menu was over priced and the over cost of the dinner was a bit high. Our server was very good and very attentive.
We booked a West Coast Afternoon Tea for two at least a week in advance. We love taking non-traditional tea while on holiday, and this was the only place we could find that offered service beyond the typical finger sandwiches of egg and cucumber, scones and cakes. We were finely dressed, made up in fact, and on time. The dining area had one, then two servers, but at most only 7 tables were occupied at the same time.
Service was OK at start, but failed for the final hour. We did our research ahead of time, so we knew the menu and selected tea as we were seated. After an "amuse"serving, the tiered platter arrived, was announced, and we were left alone. For over an hour. No "how was " this or that, no "may we box those remainders for you?", no "my, don't you think that edamame was a nice touch?" after food was deposited.
We were never offered drinking water, or more hot water for our tea pots. We watched as no fewer than four staff, including manager, serve others, collect checks, bus tables, sweep carpets, but not once look at us or come near our table.
Food was nice, though rather rich. We could have used more savory and fewer sweet items. The tea selection was hampered by the fact that our first selections were unavailable at the time. Our second choices were lovely, and we would have enjoyed more had it been offered.
In the end, I stood at our table side with my clutch until the manager saw us from behind the staff area two rooms away. The waitress tried to present the check before the manger could finish boxing our leftover treats. She was made to formally apologize for the uncharacteristic service, and the entire visit was comped.
I will never know the price for that tea service, as I never saw the bill nor a posting of the cost on menu, website, or banner. Regardless, it was not worth the neglect and disrespect we endured.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. The only problem was that we had to wait quiet some time for the appetizer, the entre, the desert and the check. Otherwise all was good. Would eat here again, unless I was in a rush.
Spent the day in Victoria with a group of ladies. Most of the group went to a nearby place for High Tea. Not wanting the gluten or the sugar, 4 of us searched for an alternate. Seeing that the menu of the Pacific had gluten-free options, we decided to give it a try. We hit the jackpot! The special of the day, a Friday, was Fish & Chips which was made with a gluten-free batter. It was excellent! Two large pieces of Cod, crispy fries, and coleslaw. It even included our beverages (non-alcoholic). Great location, opposite the Coho Ferry terminal. We will definitely go back.
Service was very pleasant...food was inflicted with way too much batter..as a result fish tacos were disappointing...I enjoyed the spaghetti..chicken was okay and over priced
The server, Martin, was exceptional!! He made my experience very special. I give him five stars!
The food, however, was marginal at best. The smear beneath the vegetables, which were barely al dente, was spoiled. The fish was dry. The dessert was pretty good.
