Barbecue season never ends at the Palomino Smokehouse!! Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary with the largest smoker in Western Canada. All of our meats are smoked low and slow everyday as we go through pounds of BBQ classics such as Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork and Ribs. Our Smoked Chicken, New Orleans style Catfish Po'boy, award winning Chili and rib-sticking Macaroni & Cheese are also extremely popular with the locals. All of our BBQ sauces (House, Chipotle and Carolina Mustard) and Rubs are made in-house and are gluten free. On weekends we feature the famous Cowboy Brunch, our BBQ-inspired take on breakfast classics which are available for both early and not-so-early risers. I reserved a table with view of the band. We got sat behind a pillar...which I guess is lucky as there was no table reserved for us (they said to find it at the back so we took he only table that was empty). I was running late due to crazy construction downtown (I don't live in the city so I had no idea how bad it was) but I called and sent a message via opentable. The sound was pretty bad which was disappointing as the bands were great. Painfully loud...and even louder between sets with the canned music. Drums easily overpowered vocals for every act which is a sound problem not a band problem. Lots if speaker screaming. You can hear better downstairs in the tiny room with sound bouncing back at you. Typically, I love this place. This night however, all three things I ordered were out of stock. The side portions (caesar salad and garlic fries) on my husband meal were very small and the salad was wilty. The servers were short staffed but wonderful. It would have been great had the kitchen told them what they were out of before they put in orders. I will always recommend...my favorite BBQ in the city...this was not a great night.

Once again, Palomino delivered on great BBQ. I had their Chilli with a side of corn bread which is a perfect combination. My guest was just as happy with the ribs and sides. The staff is always friendly, happy, and helpful. Whenever I am in Calgary, at least one dinner will be a Palomino!

Was supposed to be a nice lunch with a client, but things went sideways pretty quickly. It took about 30 minutes for us to get waters and put in an order. We've ordered a platter to share, which took another hour to arrive. We were told that the kitchen was short staffed, but it didn't check out: there was a steady stream of food coming out, just not ours. It's more likely that our server simply forgot to put in our order, just like she forgot we were seated for the first half an hour. The food was good, but the overall experience was poor. The place is also quite dingy, I get the rustic look is supposed to be part of the experience, but there's a difference between rustic and neglected.

Coming from Texas, I was kind of disappointed. I had the southern peach drink and it wasn’t as good as the one I had in Vancouver. Could barely taste the peach. Too much ice and soda. Need to up your game.

Upon arriving at The Palomino Smokehouse, we were advised it was a "bar" and the bouncer looking fellow carded my 31 year old son, who had not brought his driver's license because, well, I was driving and we were supposed to be going to a restaurant. So, we were turned away. It seems the Palomino wants to represent themselves as a restaurant to get food bookings, while, for some reason (I'll leave it to you to theorize why), being subject to liquor control rules that classify it as a bar. I don't like the misrepresentation and believe others should know that no children will be allowed entry, nor anyone who forgets their id, even if they are 31......

Food was really good - I had meatloaf and bacon wrapped corn and my husband had the chili. Tasty and good sized portions. Service was excellent. Our server was so so friendly. It was very loud as there was a band playing downstairs at the time but other than that a chill atmosphere.

Our server was super awesome and the food was fantastic. The Palomino's daily specials never disappoint! We had a large group (10 people) and the staff was super organized keeping all our bills and orders separated/going to the right people. We had a great time.

You can’t go wrong with the food or drinks at Palomino. Their patio is tucked away where you aren’t bothered by street noise and is a cozy place to hang out with friends. If you are into the band scene they have a great lineup too

Love this place. Smoked wings were a little overdone this time however, this shrunken a bit. Also disappointed they had no smoked turkey for the club sandwich I wanted. Tried the brisket cheesesteak instead which was ok, not enough meat and the hogie fell apart. Will give them another chance

We had the most amazing fall-off-the-bone ribs we’ve ever eaten at the Palomino Smoke House! They were juicy and super tender! The sides we had, Cesar salad, coleslaw and corn wrapped in bacon) were okay, but not as outstanding like the ribs. Ambiance was totally western. Our server, Kaylie was terrific. We went on a Tuesday at happy hour, so it was more quiet. Next time, we plan to order the $2:00 each ribs and skip the rest! Hope you enjoy it too.

I have not been to Palomino for a few years and it did not disappoint. The Chili mac and cheese and Brisket are spot on! the real reason people come here is for the Garlic fries.....they are to die for! great spot for lunch and my coworkers really enjoyed it.

Our first evening in Calgary after the Stempede final. Half of the tables was free so you have to chuse your place whereever you want. The Service was great. It gives only one restroom for only one person in the groundfloor, but if you want you can take the notherone in the basment. We are glad about that we have take the choice for this restaurant.

Great food and service! It was a hit for a casual birthday dinner for my Dad. We came on a Monday so we didn’t really need a reso but booked one just to be safe. Our server was super personable and we sat on the patio. It’s louder in the restaurant but the patio was nice and peaceful. There weren’t many non-alcoholic options but that’s to be expected since it’s a smokehouse and bar. We got the pulled pork and the cheesesteak and everyone left happy and full!

The beef brisket here is always amazing and today was no exception. The server was very good and friendly (I didnt get her name all I know is she doesn't usually work on Sundays), but made sure we had everything we needed. Wasn't very busy when we were there so it was quieter than normal. Great food, cold beer, and great service; what else could one ask for!

I had the two meat platter, the brisket was really good, very tender and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The ribs were overcooked and dry, and no sauce on them. I ordered a double poutine, but by the look of it, it was a single and they didn't have much gravy on it as well. Overall I would say the food was 3/5, but the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was amazing as well.
