   My first visit with friends and coworkers. The ambiance was perfect, from the indoor seating/lobby area to the outdoor dining area. Food was absolutely delicious! We started with the hummus, which was better than anything I’ve ever experienced. The chickpeas and olive oil in the middle was a nice touch of authenticity. The skewered salmon could have cooked a tad bit longer, but I loved the carrots, asparagus, pickled tomatoes, and another garnishes. If I ever come back to Austin I will visit again!

   Everything was spot on except the saffron rice... too over seasoned with saffron and undercooked, so had a harder texture. This will be a mainstay for my family and I for any special occassion... wonderful food, drinks, service, and ambience.

   Chicken was raw (blood actually oozed out when cut. They replaced with a different dish, but very interruptive to our meal (I was done before wife’s cooked food arrived). Surprised to discover bill was not reduced in any way. Good mediocre as well.

    Food was unique. Middle Eastern with a spicy flare. The lamb meatballs and egg in spicy tomato sauce was interesting. Too much heat- couldn’t tell that I was eating lamb. Appetizers, burger and desert were real good. Also, note that parking cost $30

    Really great experience overall. Ambiance is amazing. Drinks came out a little slow, especially with the cost of a Bloody Mary at $18. Valet parking was around $25 not including tip for less than 2 hours. These two items were the only items that seemed unreasonably expensive. We went to celebrate so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, I’d definitely return and recommend.

    Perfectly prepared food items, creative seasoning and very adequate portions. Good wine list and expert and well informed servers. Our favorite mediterranean restaurant in Austin. Only drawback was the EXTREMELY expensive valet parking charge: $32 for lunch ! The restaurant gives you a $5 validation but still----outrageous for Austin. And we felt it necessary to leave a tip for the valet in addition.... We will park elsewhere next time or use a rides hare service, which would be much less expensive. You would think that the restaurant would address this issue since other comparable restaurants in the downtown area do not subject guests to this level of extortion.

    The staff 'checking you in' at the restaurant need to learn something about service. Their attitude is comical at best and rude & insecure at worst. They seemed wholly unaware of what their real objective was eg. Service industry, endeavoring to create a memorable experience of food and place. Our 'crime' was booking for 6 and then wanting to add more found we couldn't so one of our party booked another 4 in a separate booking. When we arrived at the restaurant and explained what we had done and asked to be sat together we were told first - NO and then 'if' we were sat together we had to have a set menu. As we had not discussed this with the rest of the party we asked if we could sit next to each other and order a'la carte. Answer was 'no'. Then we asked if we had to do set menu could we at least select our own items. Again 'No'. In fact in every instance of the interaction we were treated rudely as if we were somehow trying to scam a free meal or beg for entry into a forbidden area. We then went into the bar area to contact other members of our party who had not yet arrived to discussed options. We then had a wonderful waitress approach and offer food and wine and we discovered it was the same menu and no limitations as to what we could and couldn't order. We opted to stay in the bar. Not once did the 2 extremely rude people at the restaurant even come to check on us to see if we had been resolved or if they could help. In fact the man-bun wearing alleged 'manager' walked past us several times with side glances and contempt? It begs the question 'why work in hospitality'? It also suggests that perhaps a CLEAR explanation as to why you do not take bookings of more than 6 on Open Table because we for one would never book a restaurant that tells us what we must eat or pay

    We went here to celebrate our anniversary. The Proper Hotel must be the new "in" place to see and be seen. The bar area was so crowded and loud that the noise consumed the restaurant which is right next to the lobby bar. It may be like this every night, but I felt like it took away from the ambiance and overall experience at the restaurant itself. The food and service was good, but again I would have given it 5 stars if the noise level would have been more controlled.

    The Peacock still remains very good, although when we were there a bit of the vibe was off. Our server was good but pretty perfunctory as we were just five business dudes I guess. Third time here and it was fine. One thing, what is with the Wellness Charge we got hit with every time the server rang in something our check. C'mon, we all need wellness, I just don't expect to have to pay for yours because you are walking my food out of the kitchen, which was pretty much our experience. I guess McGuire can do what they want since they have the power in Austin. Anyway...

    Great place for a lunch meeting, if you sit outside. I was able to have a meaningful conversation outside given the noise level from the music inside was at a minimal. The food was delicious and the waiter was very helpful.
