Beautiful place that takes you back to another time. We did High Tea and absolutely loved it. Great selection of items and very well presented. Would definitely go back again.
Love the atmosphere and fellow serving was excellent.
Great service and adorable spot! Very accommodating!
We were welcomed upon arrival and were seated shortly thereafter. We were given time to select what kind of tea we wanted and there was a full explanation for each kind. We had ordered the winter tea and we started with a squash soup and then the full selection of wonderful tea items. The scones were the best tasting we have every had-so light and fluffy. Everyone wished for more than two. Plenty of food for the price. Lovely setting and what a beautiful old house that has been well maintained. Was able to park in front of the Pendray Inn as they have two hour parking.
The setting is very nice. The menu offers many choices. Our high tea selection was very good, tasty.the presentation was nice as well.
Breakfast tea at the Pendray was a great way to start our last day in Victoria. Very very nice!
So happy to see you enjoyed our great breakfast. Thank you for stopping by!
We arrived 10 minutes earlier than our reservation time at Pendray Tea House and was seated about 25 minutes later. We finally gave up after 30 minutes when we hadn’t even been offered a glass of water. In contrast, a party that arrived 45 minutes late and were seated before us and were enjoying tea soon after.
The ambiance was crowded and rushed with several left overs of untouched food on almost every plate we saw. It would have been difficult to enjoy our experience while watching the poor understaffed wait staff running from table to table talking to themselves with beads of sweet on their brows.
We have had the pleasure of attending high tea at many establishments around the world and to say this was a total disappointment is a huge understatement. More disappointing was the inference by the floor manager that we probably arrived late but he would seat and serve us immediately if we liked. Ya ,right.
It is a shame when more effort went into writing this review than was afforded by the person we spoke to at Pendray Tea House.
Dear Guest Our sincere apologies for your recent experience at the Pendray Tea House. We were unusually busy, and as you pointed out, were understaffed due to unforeseen circumstances. The poor level of service given does not represent our normal standards of operation. Your feedback was discussed internally to prevent it from happening again. We wish to offer you the opportunity to experience, on the house, our afternoon tea in all of its excellence. Please contact us directly. Sincerely
Lovely ! Fabulous high tea and excellent service in a beautiful old character home.
Great rooms, easy to walk to downtown but far enough away from the noise and traffic.
So happy to see you had a great visit! Come back again soon!
If looking for a high class afternoon tea while in Victoria, definitely hit up the Empress over Pendray. Service was slow, the place was empty so the few tables there, we heard all conversations as noise travels at the tea house, and the food did not take fresh baked. Some of the items tasted as if there were mass made and reheated for our meal. This place was not a win for us and we won’t be returning as when we come up to Victoria on the Clipper we only have time for one afternoon tea.
Hello EllenC Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit. I'm sorry to see we missed the mark on several points. It is regrettable you found our service slow and the food not its usual top-notch quality. We pride ourselves by offering only the best menu as 90% of our menu is made from scratch right in our kitchen. We would love to redeem ourselves on your next visit. Please feel free to call on me 250-381-3456 and I will personally look after you. Dominic M.
Enjoyed the seating by the window - could watch the happenings of the Inner Harbour.
So happy to see you enjoyed your visit and had the perfect table to watch the world go by. We hope to have the pleasure in serving you again soon.
Our server, Shea, was delightful and the setting was fantastic. We ordered the charcuterie plate for two off the a la carte menu and had the plate of scones for dessert. It was a great light lunch. We will definitely go back.
Hello DaphneE; Thank you for dropping by the Pendray Tea House - I'm delighted to see Shea took extra good care of you and that you thoroughly enjoyed your visit. We'll make sure to let Shea know her efforts made your experience with us a memorable one. It was a pleasure serving you and hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Dominic M.
Nice place for afternoon tea. They have a few different options which is great. Service was great.
Hello BethG Great to hear you had a wonderful Afternoon Tea experience with us. We look forward in welcoming you back someday soon! Sincerely, Dominic M.
Relaxed and quaint atmosphere and good service. Would recommend the tasty Judge’s Plate for lunch. The vegan lunch was rather bland and non-substantial, however. Tea was very good and complimentary ginger cookie was a nice touch.
Marina view and lovely historic home, antiques gave us new memories to share in years to come. Choice of tea and menu options made it special for each of us.
So happy to see your visit was a memorable experience. We look forward in serving you again soon.
Quite expensive for good but not mind blowing food. For the price I would have hoped the food would have been more creative. Old house is very cool
We never received our ginger snap cookie which was to be part of the tea we ordered. We didn’t think to ask at the time as we were really full but we could of taken it to go. Found the tea to be a bit pricey.
Dear FionaF, My sincere apologies that you were not able to enjoy the gingersnap cookie prior to your departure. Please join us again at any time for your complimentary gingersnap cookie. Have a wonderful day. Best wishes, April U.
We had high tea on a Sunday and enjoyed the Winter Afternoon Tea. I ordered the Geisha Blossom tea and it was delicious. As we arrived, a wedding followed by a reception was taking place in one of their beautiful rooms. There were only two waiters who had to work both the wedding party and the multiple tables of guest in the restaurant so the service was slow and we had several sandwiches missing from our tiered plates. I would recommend to a friend but with a warning that service might be slower than the leisurely rate you would normally enjoy high tea.
We truly appreciate your kindness, and understanding. Should you wish to book please contact me directly at 250-381-3456 ext. 407, and it would be my pleasure to ensure you have a memorable experience. Kindly, April U.
No need to spend the extra dollars at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC. Go to the Pendray Inn and Tea House. They have a nice selection of teas and 4 different towers. I selected the Winter menu tower. Enough food to fill me up, plus the White Sky tea was excellent.
Dear KarlK, Thank-you for your valuable feedback it is greatly appreciated. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your afternoon tea experience. White Sky tea is one of our favorites as is an exclusive tea blend cultivated from the Indian Ocean archipelago. White Sky tea is one of our favorite tea's among our staff because of the many health benefits such as reducing cardiovascular disorders, uplifted mood, assisting in weight-loss, cavity prevention among many others.
Disappointed overall. What place offers high tea and charges you separate for the pots of tea?? That's a scam I think. When people look at the price, you assume it includes the tea and everywhere else I have had high tea it does. You should have that on the web so people know. I'd rather pay for high tea at the Empress. Food was just so-called, and the sweets were awful. One tiny, tiny eclairs and one other tasteless pastry. Pay a little more and go elsewhere.
Dear DBP25, We appreciate your valuable feedback. Please note, we replenish the tea complimentary unless the guest requests another pot of tea whereas we would charge for the additional pot of tea. Please let me know which of the 4 afternoon tea tiers you selected, as we do offer more than 2 items on our dessert tier. We offer 5 pastries/cookies. Please contact me directly at the Tea House and I would be happy to remedy the situation given the opportunity. Thank-you. Kindly, April U.
So glad I found this beautiful tea house. Very sweet decor. It was nice too to have a variety of choices for tea service from savory to sweet. Also nice not to have to pay Empress prices and feel less touristy. Perfect place to celebrate a trip to Victoria and Mom's birthday!
Afternoon tea at Pendray Inn was a perfect way to enjoy Victoria after a visit to the BC Museum. The tea service was lovely. We admired and enjoyed the delicious fresh tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts presented on a three-tiered tray. We were seated in a beautiful sun lit wood-panelled room with a bay window overlooking the harbour. Our young server, Maddie, was a delight -- she was gracious, knowledgeable, and lovely in every way. Bravo and thank you!
My family and I went for high tea and it was amazing. The food was delicious, the building and decor were so cute and vintage. Our waiter was lovely and very knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back and will recommend to everyone I know.
Most fabulous place I have ever visited for tea. The waitress we had was friendly and knowledgeable and took time to visit and tell us the history of the house when we inquired. The staff here are warm friendly and helpful! The food is absolutely amazing. We will definitely visit here again❤️
The service was incredible. The food was incredible. Not cheap, but worth it for a special occasion.
We made a reservation and went in earlier and they were able to seat us another couple walked in ahead without reservations and was seated promptly
It took almost an hour to get food - too long
Everyone after us was served much quicker
Should had given us dessert
Our waiter was knowledgeable and nice
Not worth the money for the wait
What a gorgeous location and the tea and food were outstanding. My parents don’t hear well but this location is quiet - meaning we could enjoy each other’s company without having to shout. The tea house is lovely - stained glass, rich decor and attention to every detail. And very reasonably priced for such a great experience. We will definitely come back.
I had an incredible time here for someone's birthday. Cheaper and way better value than the Empress! The staff was super friendly, however it would have been nice if they had done something special for the birthday, but still felt treated like royalty in this beautiful place.
Food had only a little flavor.
My wife and I truly enjoyed our experience there. Are wait staff Michael was amazing give us the entire breakdown on the full tea service along with all the delicious eats that go along with it. He also gave us a brief description on what we could see and do while we're in Victoria and was very knowledgeable of the area. He did not hesitate in answering all of our questions and the tea and food was delicious.
Great place with great food and service! Great Great Great Great Great Great
Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great!

The tea house is in a lovely historic building across from the Harbour. We got an a la carte tea service and were very pleased. The tea and scones were to die for and the sandwiches were pretty good. Cheaper than the empress but still very nice. Fabulous service!
Dear Roxanne, We appreciate your feedback. Thank-you for providing your review. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Stay in touch through our social media channels on Instagram or Facebook for our winter tea menu launch coming soon. Have a wonderful day. Kindly, April U.
We booked afternoon tea online giving email and mobile number. When we arrived they acknowledged our booking by name but then said they weren't doing it that day. We did not get the courtesy of a call or email beforehand to save us a wasted journey. Throughout we found staff unhelpful, surly and unmotivated. We have put one star so we could file this comment. Ideally they would get no stars.
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Nixon, We appreciate your feedback. I have contacted you on the phone number provided in your reservation in addition to the email provided through your feedback. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss your concerns through email or by phone. I hope to hear from you soon. Kind regards, April U.
The food was great. The service was great. The gardens were beautiful.
Dear Anonymous, Thank-you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed a walk in our gardens. Have a wonderful day. Best wishes, April U.
An amazing high tea experience! Such a great time and great tea recommendations. Can’t wait to return!
The menu online sounds amazing. we all had different ones, the west coast seafood tower that showed up was stuffed cold puff pastry, and a wafer thing layer of smoked salmon in the pinwheel that couldn't even be tasted. Scones were tasty, and desserts were good, however the 'seafood' options were surely lacking. For the price, I was disappointing. The Afternoon Tea, and Judges tea looked good, my friends enjoyed them, however again, coldish puff pastry is just not appetizing. Also out of the tea we wanted. Other suggestion was too sweet.
Service was great, the history lesson was also informative. Room was beautiful.
We had a great time, it was well priced and the server was excellent. The English breakfast tea is delicious.
It was absolutely lovely, the perfect atmosphere and delicious afternoon tea. The service was also incredible. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice afternoon tea spot!
Dear Emily, Thank-you for your review. We are always overjoyed to see our guests happy. Have a wonderful day. Please visit us again soon for our winter afternoon tea menu launch. Warm regards, April U.
Pendray Inn and Tea House was a perfect stop during a quick day trip to Victoria. I had a great view of the harbor, the food was amazing, and the tea was perfect. My hostess was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this to tea and non-tea fans alike.
Thank-you for your feedback. We appreciate the kind words, and we hope to welcome you back from afternoon tea or cocktails soon. Have a wonderful day. Kindly, April U.
