   halibut overcooked with a burnt crust which was inedible told when asked chef that was how it was supposed to be Duck three very thick slices and bloody. Duck needs to be finey sliced Could not eat it these are London prices and would at least expect to be able to eat it. Very embarassig for my guests Will not recommend this to any one locally

   We had booked a table some weeks ago for three and confirmed. It was obvious the table had not been laid for us specifically, which is always a disappointing first impression. Good food choices on the menu, no obvious indication of allergy or intolerances and the staff did not ask? We all very much enjoyed the food, tried fish of the day, seabass. Fish and chips and the linguini. Desserts were good although again not many options for our vegan guest. Overall our experience was good. Tasty food and an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Staff attentive without being intrusive.

    This is the first time I've visited The Peppermill and I will definitely visit again. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious. We had the roast beef, it came with a variety of vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. The service was great, attentive but not in your face.

    We normally really enjoy the food here very good chef, on this occasion my husbands Fishfinger Sandwich wasn’t up to the usual standard, too much bread for the amount of fish ( which was cold) and not enough Tartare sauce . Wouldn’t stop us going back as hopefully this was a one off . Staff very polite and helpful .

    This was the first time we had a roast in The Peppermill despite being regulars. We were not disappointed. We were delighted to see that lamb was an option along with beef, pork, chicken and nut roast. 2 of us ordered lamb and one ordered beef. All were cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. We all enjoyed the selection of veg, especially the roasted carrots and leek gratin and were happy that everyone got a Yorkshire pudding! The roast potatoes were good for a restaurant roast. We will definitely go back for a roast.

    Waitress was excellent, food was also excellent. We are not talking Michelin star but you are not paying Michelin star prices either. Toilets were clean restaurant was clean and very comfortable and spacious. Nothing worse than fighting for plate space on the table, this was not the case at all plenty of room.for wine plates glasses and able to enjoy the conversation without looking through a wine bottle or vase. 2 starters 2 mains 2 coffee wine and an aperitif..fantastic 👏

    The quality of the food was good, but the standard of service unfortunately let the overall quality down. It wasn’t particularly busy, and with the number of staff, it should have been better. Maybe a bit of customer awareness training would help?

    Pleasant staff, good food. Chocolate fondant dessert with vanilla ice cream is much nicer if you ask the chef to “hold” the very sweet caramel-type sauce which can drown out the very good chocolate sauce in the centre of the pudding. Cooking standards are always consistently high here.

    I love the cosy and relaxed atmosphere at The Peppermill. Good choices on the Menu, the Halibut and Venison were delicious. Also an excellent choice of Wines, Spirits and Cocktails. The service was excellent and my husband and I will definitely return.

    Very disappointed as the Peppermill used to be fab! Poor menu, no bread or olives etc most food seemed to either have been taken out the fridge and “assembled” like the chicken liver pate and tasteless chutney and slice of brioche or heated up like the pork belly slice or the chocolate pudding. Very quiet for a Friday evening but had to ask for a second glass of wine and then chase it up 10 minutes later! Pleasant young team of staff but no sign of a friendly manager/host like before. Wine was quite nice and everything was clean but for £108 for two I’d rather have stayed at home!

    The food here is very nice but like many places now the prices are very high for what you get. Would suggest active men should either eat before they go or expect to leave hungry. Whilst I understand ingredient costs, staff wages and energy prices are rising there has to be a balance and I would have thought providing value for money would be more likely to bring people back. Providing small portions for high prices I can imagine will result in empty tables. There were only 6 tables of 2 dining on a friday night , surely one of the busier nights of the week. Such a shame as the food was lovely but even just some vegetables served with it would surely be lower cost but give better value for money.

    Recommended by friends and glad they did. Lunchtime visit. Food was very good. My wife had risotto while I had the burger. Both very tasty and filling. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere very pleasant, although the older couple sat at the next table talked constantly and loudly - perhaps they were both hard of hearing. Clearly not the restaurant’s fault, though. Service was on the slow side and my wife requested some bread which never arrived. The waitress was very apologetic. Overall a very good meal/experience and we will definitely go again. Recommended.
