Prices on the menu hint that The Pines would be a first class high end restaurant......but it isn't. This place desperately needs a makeover. Dowdy comes to mind. True, windows offer a spectacular view of the lake but inside is no better than a cafeteria. Tables could use white table cloths, flowers and starched napkins. The menu is not extensive and the limited wine available is expensive. The best deal perhaps is the tasting menu with wine pairings at $125 a person. Service was excellent. Note: Breakfast is also served starting at 8AM. After eating go for a walk on the pier and watch the sunset. I recommend this restaurant because it will get you out of Jasper which, as a resort town doesn't hold a candle to Banff. (in my opinion). Cheers
Loved the food at this restaurant overlooking Pyramid lake. Isaac took great care of us and was a great host. The food was fantastic. Not large plates, but tasty and well presented. Great flavours!. Overall, will visit again and The Pines made our trip to Jasper!
We went to this restaurant because we stayed at the resort. The menu was very small and we barely knew what the items on the menu were. I am a picky eater and asked for the kids menu, but was denied. The bill was very expensive, but the portions were extremely small. Despite paying over $100 for two of us, we still had to order pizza afterwards. We do not recommend this restaurant.
Excellent service from all staff. My compliments to the Chef's for making us excellent meals. Cheers to Isaac who makes the dining experience special.
I have lived and travelled in Alberta for 15 years now, hands down the best meal I have eaten yet,
I will be back!!
It was our 40th anniversary which was indicated when we reserved the table. There was no mention of it at all, so why ask? We ordered the scallops and the trout. The scallops were flavourful, but a small amount. The trout was a small portion accompanied with a spinach salad. The trout had good flavour, but was over seasoned. There are no sides available to accompany the main course which would have allowed us to compliment the meal.
Overall, the attempt was there to provide a upscale meal, but it missed the mark. My wife and I were disappointed, as we were expecting more, as this is supposed to be one of the more romantic restaurants with high end food.
I would not return or recommend this restaurant for that special evening.
We had the 5 course set meal, outside. It was so good! Best dine out we’ve had in a long time!!
Wonderful dining experience, and truly excellent service.
The duck and the pork jowls were our meals of choice. Both were excellent. Our server Isaac was a lovely young man and very attentive to our needs. The view from the dining room was outstanding. Would highly recommend
Fantastic food and cocktails with 5 star service!!!!
My wife and I did the 5 course Lakeside Patio Tasting with wine pairing. It was absolutely amazing.
We will be back.
Absolutely amazing service from Jessie and the food was spectacular, we did the five course patio tasting with the wine pairing! Well worth it!! Will come do it again!
This was our fourth visit to The Pines. The service was efficient and modestly friendly, The food was very good, although the prices for the cocktails and dishes were at least 20% higher than our last visit in May, 2021. The restaurant does have very good food, but it isn't fine dining, even though the prices are close to that price point ($75 per head).
Food amazing. Reserved for the Tasting on the patio. View very pretty. Lower ratings given as service towards end of meal was not as attentive. Was asked to move inside for new guests that we didn’t see arrive during our 45 minute wait for taxi.
Mark was very personable and knowledgeable on the wine.
Unfortunate to have the service change but otherwise a wonderful experience.
So awesome to have my egg allergy and celiac disease addressed. No gluten and no egg for a 5 course meal. Loved it
We enjoyed our experience at The Pines, our server Jess was very attentive and warm. The food was just want we were in the mood for, healthy and decadent.
Great bartender Markos and efficient and friendly server
The food, service, drinks and the overall atmosphere was flawless. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The over all experience was life changing honestly. I am looking forward to going back. Catherine and Mark were out of this world. Highly recommend
Was an overall lovely experience, we enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu. The service was great! The view was fantastic!
We enjoyed the 5 course with wine pairing on the patio. It was wonderful and our server, Catherine, was great.
Beautiful views, wonderful wine paired with each course. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a romantic evening, wine connoisseur, or a foodie. Can't wait to go back and do it again.
Delicious brunch, gorgeous mountain view and great service!
Price was high for value of the food. Also didn’t expect set course when booking the table. Excellent staff.
Came for lunch. Wait staff was incredible, fun and super helpful in learning the area. The menu is for select tastes, it would be nicer if there were more items to choose from for a broader audience. Beautiful view of the lake and comfortable.
We appreciated that the restaurant wasn’t so busy and follows Covid protocols. We shared the Scallops (3 in number), with Orange, Brown Butter, & Thyme. They were delicious but priced at $18. We also shared the “Green” salad with deep fried Brussels Sprouts (scrumptious), spinach, apple and Gouda cheese emulsion. I enjoyed the “Bear” & Flower Pork Tenderloin (it’s pork) with a tasty glaze and very healthy corn succotash medley, with sweet potato. Delicious. My wife enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Trout, with tasty roasted fennel, orange, spinach and Beurre Rouge. She felt it needed more seasoning, but was very satisfying. Catherine was our excellent server for the evening. I also enjoyed Folding Mountain Overlander Pale Ale beer. Very nice finish on that brew!
Service was very good. Food was amazing. Perfect way to spend our 35th wedding anniversary ♥️✅♥️
The view is fantastic but the food is just ok. Weird elevator music, which was off putting .
Fine dining style dinner with small portion sizes and large prices. We felt the food was good but the portions smaller than expected for the price. Having said that, we did enjoy the scallops, bison tartar, trout, and bison tenderloin.
Service was exceptional. Food was very good with a few small missteps. I ordered the duck and it was slightly over cooked and the portion size could have been slightly larger. We ordered the apple dessert and the overall composition was confused somewhat. All other aspects of the meal were exceptional
We were immediately seated at a table along the side as all the lake facing windows were taken. The wait staff was very attentive and the waiter recently from NB was very friendly. The whiskey drink with the candied bacon was delish. The menu was quite limited but what we ordered was done well. The scallops for an appetizer were inspired. Just wish was 4 instead of 3. I had the pork tenderloin which was very tasty. Husband had the duck which was very good as well. Maybe a little overcooked. The s’mores for dessert was super sweet. Much like the real thing. Bill with a tip was just under $150 but the quality, service and location reflect it.
Wonderful food, great service, loved the setting! Thank you to the service staff, they made our evening memorable and that much more enjoyable!
Great special occasion restaurant! Great high end food!
Delicious food with amazing view! Excellent service.
Evening menu was disappointing, limited options 5 entries only - duck, bison, trout, pork and a vegan dish - not a great family dining experience for what I would expect for a family lake hotel. If you are a family not wanting more variety drive in to town to find a restaurant with more options.
Food was amazing. Cocktails even better. Great service and stunning views. What else do you need ..
Food was awesome service was good good value for buck. They could do some decorating though
Valentine’s Day 5 course dinner. Was really great as a whole!
Great food, taken care of, service was wonderful. My wife and I really enjoyed our time together. So peaceful
It was a quiet Saturday with only a few tables occupied.
The server was friendly and knowledgeable.
The food was really good.
My partner had their special venison meatloaf and the portion did not disappoint.
I had their seasonal vegetable bowl and it was really good too. Followed by the chocolate decadence dessert. The salted caramel gelato on top was amazing.
I only wish that there were lights on the lake so we could see it but outside of that a great night.
Fabulous food and outstanding service. We had a wonderful experience dining here. Thank you!
